I love this album

I like Holiday but I don't really like the way he sings the 'Sieg Heil to the president Gasman - because we're outlaws yeah!'-part =/

Theo sings that soooooo much better live. Theo has a unique voice but it's not coming through in the OCR.

LNOE=Big Effin' WIN. I heard it for the first time yesterday and the arrangement, the duet, the harmonies, the way John and Rebecca are working with each other on that, I swear I stopped dead in my tracks and just thought "WOW." The cast version of When It's Time is also really, really well done, and I love how the duet at the end of BOBD works.

KYE comes across as a little corny on the cast recording but I'm going to wait to pass judgment on it 'til I see how it's done live. I do like the way they wove the first-fifth refrain of JOS into the end of it -- RHS isn't used for the show and I find the callback to JOS equally effective instead -- It's like at the end of KYE, Johnny is pointing the finger back at himself and saying "I'm my own biggest fucking problem." "Do you know your enemy? Well there's nothing wrong with me, this is how I'm supposed to be...." I LOVE how the two songs play off of each other that way.

Ok so now I'm getting really pumped to see the show on Thursday.... :woot:

Here's the Berkeley version of "Holiday" that was posted a while ago:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1eUuPkYu8Q

Of course, blocking changed at the beginning as well as some choreography. And then there's Matt Caplan as Tunny and Morgan Weed still in the ensemble, but yeah... Theo still sings his part. :)

It's actually Tony Vincent that sings that song, not John. But yeah, that song ended up amazing.

Yup. As Eirik pointed out, it's Tony, Rebecca, and Mary singing in LNOE. :)

Also, JOS in KYE is sung by Michael not John, but John does sing at the end of KYE (You can't tell on the track, though). However, I'll let that part be a surprise for you. ;) KYE (and BTL) are probably the ones that work the least in on the OCR but it does work in the show.

I really can't wait for ya to see it. Heh...

I'll trust your judgment on that and can't wait to see it all done live. And MAN I need some Cliff's notes on who's singing what parts of what -- hard to tell, especially when you're so used to hearing everything being sung by Billie Joe anyway. :)

Cliffnotes, huh? :shifty: I have nothing to do while waiting for the washing machine. Heh... I'll just do it for the ensemble songs, the parts where you can't tell. I made note of the lyric changes from the OCR. A "..." means that the person/group of people sing the lyrics until the next notation.

American Idiot:

Gerard: Don't wanna be an American idiot/Don't want a nation under the new media

Andrew: And can you hear the sound of hysteria?

Declan: The subliminal mind fuck America

Above plus Joshua & Miguel: Welcome to a new kind of tension

All across the alien nation

Where everything isn't meant to be okay

Above plus Chase & Ben: Television dreams of tomorrow

Whole Male Ensemble: Now everybody do the propaganda

And sing along to the age of paranoia

[Don't want to be an American idiot

One nation controlled by the media

Information age of hysteria]

John, Michael, & Stark: It's going out to idiot America

Company: Welcome to a new kind of tension...

JOS:

John: I'm the son of rage and love the Jesus of suburbia...

Michael: Get my television fix

Michael: It didn't say much but it only confirmed that

Stark: The center of the earth is the end of the world...

Ensemble: I don't care if you don't...

John: Everyone's so full of shit

Born and raised by hypocrites

Michael: Hearts recycled but never saved

From the cradle to the grave

Stark: We are the kids of war and peace

From Anaheim to the Middle East

Michael & Stark: We are the stories and disciples of

Company: The Jesus of Suburbia...

Mary: Dearly beloved are you listening?...

John: To live and not to breathe is to die in tragedy

To run, to run away,

John, Michael, & Stark: to find what you believe

And I leave behind this hurricane of fucking lies

Michael: I lost

John, Michael, & Stark: my faith to this, this town that don't exist

John: So I run, I run away

John, Michael & Stark: To find what I believe

And I leave behind this hurricane of fucking lies

And I walk this line a million and one fucking times

Company: But not this time

When there ain't nowhere you can go

When you've been victimized

Tales from another broken home

Michael: You're leaving...

Holiday:

Stark: Say

John: hey!

John: Hear the sound of the falling rain

Coming down like an Armageddon flame

The shame, the ones who died without a name

Stark: Hear the dogs howling out of key

To a hymn called "Faith and Misery"/ And bleed,

John: the company lost the war today

John: I beg to dream and differ

John & Stark: from the hollow lies

John: This is the dawning of

John & Stark: the rest of our lives

It's St. Jimmy

John & Tony: and that's my name

Company: And don't wear it out

LOATG/SAR (This is to the best of my memory... they changed it the two times I've seen it on Broadway... so, it's probably the least accurate... heh...):

John: She wears her overcoat for the coming of the nuclear winter

Chase: She's salt of the earth/And she's dangerous

^ wow I cant believe you took the time to write that

still .. thanks :)

LOL. It was mostly a cut & paste job and inserting names. LOTAG/SAR was the hardest since it was a mash-up and they've changed it a bunch of times. :)

I've kept myself from listening to any of it beforehand (except the preview of the Green Day version of When It's Time), so I'm really excited to hear it for the first time. :woot:

after listening to a few trailers and so on I must say that I absolutely hate the musical stuff. I don't think that this has to do with green day but rather with standard musical guys singing good green day songs. I hate musicals in general and so i hate this one.

although I'll buy the album firstly to have a complete collection and secondly to give it a chance winning my love.
