Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love
Gonna listen it again in a few, and make some notes last night I wasn't exactly feeling like doing that. But I remember I liked the parts of JOS and St. Jimmy in other songs (BOBD, KYE etc), and I really liked the Dearly Beloved part of JOS, and the whole of BOBD, and I can't remember anything else. Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love
I just listened the whole album and jotted down some things. Will put it in a spoiler if someone doesn't want to read it, idk why, but it won't harm to do. Sorry if people think it's too much of if I'm going too deep into things while I haven't even seen the musical. I just like analysing things like this. And warning, it's way too long and sorry for any spelling or grammatical errors, I don't particularly feel like going through the whole thing to correct everything. Keep in mind I really like everything, everything I've written down are the things that I noticed, whether they'd be bad or good. Also, I still haven't seen the actual musical (damned shortage on time ), so sometimes I'll get a feeling with a song that might not match up at all with the story of the musical. Also, this isn't the first time I've heard the album, so apart from the LOTAG thing because that was put in later, the majority of my opinions on things aren't negative because I have to get used to it, I was already somewhat familiar with it, just not in such good quality. American Idiot: I really like the canon thing, but it sounds kinda weird when the women come in, it just sounds a bit awkward. It stands out a lot. Really like the rest of the song Jesus of Suburbia: I really like the build-up of "I don't care if you don't"-part. I'm in love with the Dearly Beloved part. The "to live, and not to breathe" etc part, is really kinda weird, I'm a bit every time I hear it. Don't know why they did it like that, maybe it makes sense in the musical though. And it sounds kind of weird how they don't hold the words in the end, like, they go instead of "I won't apologiiiise", "apologise", it's very short. Sorry, I'm not very good at explaining musical techniques in English Really like the rest of the song. Holiday: I really like the bass intro. For the rest, I just really like this. No special things, for the rest. I know that apparently the performance in the musical is very impressive, I'm really curious to finally see that. Boulevard of Broken Dreams: I just love it, it's so good and beautiful  the acoustic part reminds me of the Green Day live shows (Rotterdam <3). I also really like the "city of the damned" and other parts of songs during the end, it sounds cool and it fits. This is one of the songs I like best of this, it's just really good. Favorite Son: I really like this, liked it from the first time I heard it (from a bootleg). I really like the women's voices in it, it just gives it this vibe, I don't know what, but I really like it. And I like the multiple voices in there, and the key change. and the transition into Are We The Waiting. Are We The Waiting: It's very beautiful, it just sounds like a big unified thing. It kind of gives me the feeling of a goodbye (and then in St. Jimmy Johnny meets St. Jimmy. That's what I get from only listening the songs, again, I haven't seen the musical yet, so I don't know if I'm maybe completely wrong here) St. Jimmy: it's just awesome. Don't need any other words for it, it's awesome. I love the way Tony sings it, he just nails the song and the character, it's awesome. Give Me Novacaine: I noticed the drum sounds a little different. I really like the acoustic part, it's soft and beautiful. After that, it's still beautiful, but more powerful (like in the original xD). One -thing, though, "Johnny says it's better than here" - who sings the song? I really liked the build-up to "Oh novacaine". The second voice (is that the right name for it in English?) sounds a bit weird though, in the end I think (it's the last note I made about the song, anyway xD) Last of the American Girls/She's a Rebel: it's great It just sounds great, the two songs mixed together. It kind of gives me a feel like he's torn between what he thinks about her, on the one side the good, saint, angel side (LOTAG), and on the other side the 'bad' (not really bad, but I hope you get what I mean), more rebellious side, and in the chorus they join together and they're the same. Then St. Jimmy butts in, and he has a temptation to go to that, or something. Kind of like, he's torn between what to do. That really sucked, sorry. Last Night On Earth: It's just really beautiful, I really like it. I like the two voices thing. Too Much Too Soon: that song is already one of my favourite songs anyway, and they just did it awesome. Nothing really special striked (??) me, it's just awesome =D Before the Lobotomy1: It's beautiful, soft, I really like the canon thing, it works very well. beautiful (: Extraordinary Girl: The beginning "waaaaahhhh"-y thing sounds a bit Middle Eastern to me. Which actually makes sense (I think?), since it's in the hospital with Tunny and the nurse and all, and Tunny is on duty somewhere in the Middle East. For the rest, it's a nice song. Before the Lobotomy2: it's so powerful, and supposed to be, I really like it. When It's Time: such a beautiful song The WMUWSE guitar thing kind of distracts me because I know the song (September) so well, but it fits and it's nice. I love this song. Know Your Enemy: it's powerful, and sound really good. It doesn't bother me in the slightest they cut it. I really like the JOS parts in there, it just fits so perfectly, and just sounds really cool. I really like how they go 'higher' when they end the JOS parts. I hope that was understandable. 21 Guns: This song has already been overanalyzed because it was released as a single, so I'm not gonna get into that apart from that I really like it and it's beautiful and powerful when it should be etc Letterbomb: It's awesome. Thing that comes to mind is GIRL POWER!!! It's probably the song that needs most getting used to it being sung by a female, but it definitely doesn't take away from it's power, and I think Rebecca did this one really good. I love the scream (although it's better live). I also like the build-up of voices in the "You're not the Jesus of Suburbia / the St Jimmy is a figment of" etc part, it's really cool. Wake Me Up When September Ends: I really like the beginning, it really shows a lot of emotion, which I really like. I also like the multiple voices thing. When it gets more powerful, it's still really nice but it's less impressing than in the original. Again, I like the multiple voices, and the extra strings in the end. I really like it after the solo, there it seems more powerful than before, I really like that. I really like what they did with the song as a whole. The end sounds a bit funeral-y, though (I don't know what happens in the musical at that point). I like the reverse cymbal fading thing. This song is really close to my heart to begin with, so yeah, I like what they did with it. Homecoming: till Rock'n'Roll girlfriend, nothing special. I like the drum and guitar solos in RRgirlfriend, but it doesn't really fit in the song, imo (and it's not the first time I've heard it, I've gotten used to it but I'm still not too fond of it). I really like the specific line "The world is spinning round and round out of control again", I like how it's sung. I like the whole "We're Coming Home" part of the song, it sounds awesome and powerful (haha, I really overuse that word ) Whatsername: it's just SO beautiful in the beginning, . later (when it's like, big and electric and the vocals are there too), it's still great, but it doesn't beat the first part. The end feels a bit empty to me, without the guitar through the guitar (ouch, that sucked). I like the string ending, though. When It's Time (Green Day version): I want to marry this song. If you read that all, I'm impressed.

Katarina.
If you read that all, I'm impressed. I can't believe I just read all that. xD (I'm just replying to Sanne's post in my spoiler, if you don't want to know anything about the musical or whatever, don't read it.) Anyway, we pretty much have the same opinions about the songs, though I just love everything. I don't have any moment when I think like.. .. I need to listen to the album a lot more to notice things like that. Though I have to agree with that part in JOS.. To live etc. That part sounds The Network-ish/techno to me, very funny xD And about what you said about Give Me Novacaine: Both 'Johnny' and 'Will' sing the song. I've seen the musical recording (..xD) and Will sits on the couch playing his guitar and singing that line with 'Johnny says it's..' And yes I can't stop listening to When It's Time. It's beyond beautiful. /rant
