watsername182
Damnn I wish I got to see the musical. I'm a bit too far away though. Hope everyone who takes part in this picture thing can fulfill the punk stereotype adequately. Same. If anyone's willing to buy me a ticket from Sydney to New York I'll gladly dress in "costume". Moxy Crimefighter
Wow, so apparently a Lifestyle is considered to be a uniform now, a costume. I hope that reporter tries to take a picture of some random punk and when asked if that's " a costume for the show" gets knocked out. seriously, that's purtrid. JHyena86
A bit offended by the wording. Why is it that looking punk is a costume? I get that around here all the time. I go to the mall and people ask if my friends and I are filming you-tube videos...it's what I like, not a fucking costume. On halloween 2 years ago I was a vampire and everyone asked if I was a punk. Lame. In regards to the show, if I were going, I wouldn't be dressed up. I'd dress like me. So I guess I'd be a perfect candidate for the pictures. Though this person should also realize that most GD fans aren't exactly gonna look like Sid Vicious...

Foxboro Hot Tubs
In costume? What the fuck is up with that shit? In costume? What are punks, Halloween decorations or something? And here we were in the AI thread talking about dressing up nice and Broadway for the show... hahaha.... Sorry for cursing, Andres... stuff like this pisses me off. thanks a lot for saying that .. I totally concur I think the idea of taking photos of green day fans is pretty awesome but to tell them that they have to "dress up" like punks and stuff ... that's bullshit if they just said they need green day fans .. some of them may look like punks or whatever but this whole thing is sooo artificial .. artificial .. something that Green Day isn't it would represent the Musical and also Green Day false in my opinion

Sorry for cursing, Andres... stuff like this pisses me off. that's exactly what I thought about. I'm really annoyed!!!!!!...this kind of things makes me mad..it's like if we are a bunch of puppets products in series, all the same.. everything must be labeled..so I listen to green day and for this I have to wear in a "certain" specific way, a "costume" they said..I don't think it works in this way, it's not like: "oh, y'kow I love a certain music so I have to necessarily wear black, belts, studs, Mohawk, tatoos, piercings, chains, and I don't know what other shit they could think ...they want a stereotype, a shitty caricature...that sucks guys!!!!!... my life and my way to be aren't a shitty "costume party"!!!!!!... ..I really wish nobody will lend to this thing....or at least I hope eveyone would go in pajamas or naked..hihihihihi.. :eyebrow:
*withoutadoubt*
I think it was just an ignorant statement by someone who obviously doesn't know the first thing about 'punk' or about Green Day. If she knew anything about them at all, she'd know what a diverse fanbase they have, and how unstereotypical most of us are by whatever standard she is going by. I'm not really offended by what she said, but I dunno, it could be construed differently by different people. It's just like stereotyping any other group. You are either offended by it, or you just realize some people are just ignorant and leave it at that.
Abbey.
it seems like the ny daily news is simply trying to construct a story around the show and is looking to create the full effect of "punk invading broadway" by trying to get some images of a bunch of folks that look like "punks" outside the theater. no harm in that to me. it is historic to have a show created by a band, an east bay punk band, make it to broadway. i think it was rather kind of the writer from the daily news to reach out to our little group here at the GDC and offer to include GD fans. Of course it was nice of them to write here and I would agree with what you and Cheryl say, but the wording was not the best. Punks come in all shapes and sizes, as do Green Day fans. I am not sure if the writer gets a bunch of "punks" to "dress up" that that would appeal to punks to attend the show but create a bit of a backlash to the show in the community (which is probably going to happen anyway), in a way. I don't know, maybe if it was just to "GD fans" punks and non-punks, instead of GD Fans who are planning to "dress in costume" it would not have hit me the way it did when I first read it. Plus, who can't spot a fake punk from a mile away? Of course, I always forget that anonymous users come to this forum regarding the show and we should probably not talk about it out in the open, too. Rosie May
It's a nice idea apart from the dressing up thing. They should let people wear what they want to, get a real example of what some green day fans look like.

Trina
S'cool that she contacted GDA/GDC but I find it a little annoying that she said "in costume" ... also the whole thing she wrote was just kinda irritating to me. A bit condesending towards Green Day fans or something? I'd say it'd be funny if people dressed really silly-ish and all and did a mock interview if it weren't associated with GDA/GDC. karma1215
My exact thoughts. Talk about being labeled... that's just crazy. I may love Green Day but I'm not your average looking punk chick Jeans and t-shirts are fine by me... the rest is all silly.
Poo Flinger
Those reporters are asking to get punk'd. Dress as you planned in fine snobbery and use elegant manners...
Katarina.
Too bad I don't live in New York :/ Oh well. I do feel they kinda want to 'label' people with the whole punk look or whatever kind of 'costume'. I mostly wear a jeans with a tshirt or hoodie/pullover/longsleeve shirt. That's me, and I'm a Green Day fan too. xD

GDM
So, wear one with Care Bears on it or something. Or better yet, another band! ROFL. Haha, I mentioned an adeline records shirt. they actually want to come to my apartment and do it in front of the opening night poster from the berkeley run that i have. but it's easier for me with work just to go to the theater, so i suggested that instead. maybe i'll bring the berkeley program or something. care bears... haha... way too old for that, but it would be funny.
