GDM Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Anyone from here who's considering going should wear dresses or suits, or any formal clothes. Cause, y'know, that would totally be the punk thing to do.
mandajane Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 i wish i could do this!!!! i hate to brag, but i have been told i have some pretty kick ass style
Abbey. Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 cmon tanya represent. go get a bunch of piercings and do it up for us. ill be in nyc on march 12th but i dont think i fit the "profile".
Fuzz Posted March 4, 2010 Author Posted March 4, 2010 "America Idiot" = Fail. It's called a typo, chill.
**nobodylikesyou** Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Right-O! I'm spiking my hair as we speak and slashing my clothes all over the place! AAAARRGGHHHHH!!!!! Haha... got get in costume mode. and what not.
Smoothed Out Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 The only people I know who are actually considering doing this aren't even Green Day fans. That would be their costume, they would go as Green Day fans. Haha, well that would fit perfectly with what they are looking for probably Oh behave! LOL! Hehe I'm evil aren't I?
Mari91 Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 i definitely wanna show up in like a pink suite with high heels and beach blonder hair.
Tripe Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Psh, this made me LOL also. I don't know anyone who is attending the show "in costume." Slightly offensive, Tanya, I agree.
Fuzz Posted March 4, 2010 Author Posted March 4, 2010 Psh, this made me LOL also. I don't know anyone who is attending the show "in costume." Slightly offensive, Tanya, I agree. Offensive? Nah. Silly wording, yes.
GDM Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Offensive? Nah. Silly wording, yes. Definitely silly wording. I wrote to her, we'll see what happens. ======= She just wrote me and asked me if I was seeing here in NYC or seeing in again in April in Berkeley... is the show going on at Berkeley again in April? "Do you plan on coming here to New York to see the Broadway show or are you seeing it again in Berkeley in April? " So... confused... maybe she misread what I wrote.
Juliette Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Fair does. I don't think people should have to dress up differently for it though, just be yourself.
Fuzz Posted March 4, 2010 Author Posted March 4, 2010 It's staying in NY. March are the previews, April 20 is opening night.
GDM Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 It's staying in NY. March are the previews, April 20 is opening night. Right, that's what I thought, Andres. Just like the Daily News.... sheesh.
HoneyDo666 Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 They're trying to make us into stereotypes. I never dress "punk" per say, just eclectic, without looking like an oddball. The best thing about Green Day fans is that we're all so unique! Green Day have a wide-reach musically and attract lots of different people. I'll be dressing up nicely, thanks very much.
GDM Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Here's part of what I wrote back to her: "I'm a bit grungy in my real life, but punk is a state of mind as much as it's a state of clothing. I am not sure what you mean by "wearing punk/grungy" clothes to the show. Truthfully, when I saw the show in Berkeley, very few people dressed "punk." They just wore clothes. And the hundreds of "real Green Day" fans talking about coming here to NYC for the show from the Green Day Community were actually talking about dressing up a bit for the boys... albeit in our own styles... which tend to be a little different, anyway... so... I can dress normally, if you'd like, but I hadn't planned on dressing as a "punk" just to see the show." We'll see what happens if she emails me back...LOL...
Tiffx Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Damnn I wish I got to see the musical. I'm a bit too far away though. Hope everyone who takes part in this picture thing can fulfill the punk stereotype adequately.
**nobodylikesyou** Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Offensive? Nah. Silly wording, yes. maybe they just figured the punks would dress up like non punks to go to the show and they wanted them to look like punks not non punks.
Guest Shangri-La Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 ewwww. i wouldn't do this if you paid me. ridiculous.
Tripe Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Okay, so this chick from the Daily News is totally not impressing me. Clueless. I do find the stereotyping to be slightly offensive. Bet the article skews heavily to the stereotypical punks in costumes as Green Day fans.
amy_runs Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 That's.... racist. Wait. Wrong word! But that's ridiculous. In costume? wtf is that supposed to mean? I still wish I was going to be there though :/
*withoutadoubt* Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 OK, I've got all my safety pins in place. I'm ready. lol Cannot wait to see who she interviews.
Rebel07 Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 When everyone takes their pics you should all flip the camera off
HoneyDo666 Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 That's.... racist. Wait. Wrong word! But that's ridiculous. In costume? wtf is that supposed to mean? I still wish I was going to be there though :/ Nope. Right word. Green Day fans are a race of their own.
