RE: Green Day losing out to blink in AP most important band

Hey everyone.

Some of you may remember a couple months back, I posted a topic and a scan of a poll in Alternative Press magazine where their readers voted blink-182 "Most Important Band of the Decade" over Green Day. I voiced my discord here (and to AP mag) and a lot of you guys agreed.

I haven't been around since then because right after that, my computer got a virus and put my computer out of commission for a while.

But, I'm back, and I just got the March 2010 issue of AP magazine and they published the letter I wrote complaining. I didn't get a response or anything, but at least people got to read the truth haha I just thought this was kind of a small victory for us Green Day fans.

I totally agree; apart from that, you can't compare a band like Green Day with Blink 182... Maybe another band more important, but Blink 182 can't win the most important band, they'd be ignoring another bands that do deserve to win, not only Green Day. Anyway, I really liked the letter and congrats for getting it published

they remind me too much of the douchebags i went to high school with. and their concerts were filled with them too.

I'm a blink fan, but I think everyone gives them too much credit without thinking who paved the way for them....Green Day (and The Offspring). Everyone is always like "blink-182 changed music!" But it was really Green Day who changed how things worked, and it's sad that people forget that.

Great letter

I don't uderstand why Blink 182 won the Most Important Band of the Decade, especially over Green Day. what's funny that Blink broked up in 2005 and they back only last year but in the other hand, Green Day always been togther. Also, I don't really need to say how much influence they are for new bands while Blink aren't, in my opinion.
