This doesn't really count as GD reference maybe (?), but this is the graduation cake I was surprised with yesterday :woot: :

BLUE.jpg

I didn't want to eat it, it was so beautiful hahaa. They said the decorator was planning it for two months.

omg that's the most beautiful cake I have ever seen!!!!

I was looking at a box of mike'n'ikes the other day and in the corner it said "10% more free"...so naturally I thought of Macy's Day Parade.

Then once I heard someone say "here we go again" and I just started singing Going to Pasalacqua to myself...Sometimes the smallest things can be Green Day references to me and keep me entertained for at least 2 minutes haha

God, my mouth is watering and my eyes are so big right now, that is AMAZING! And congrats on graduating! (Yes, I realize we're not supposed to post pictures, but since this is so epic and it got stuck at the end of the page, I feel like I should keep it in my post so more people can see this amazing cake!)

They played American Idiot during the MTV Movie Awards tonight

Both in the newspaper. I was reading more about the cumbria killer [ :( ] and then it says: his mother Mary, 80, said...

I had to stop reading there. I couldn't read it all morosely when I was like Mother Mary!!

but then later it was showing this woman who got some fuckn serious chemical burns from the hairdresser on her wedding day, and it said she was from Hitchin.

I'm reading Black Rabbit Summer by Kevin Brooks right now and the main character said "cross my heart and I hope to die" which reminded me of All the Time.

In the script for this shitty play we have, it said at some point "sings 'all by myself' to self while walking alone". And of course I thought of the Dookie hidden track All By Myself instead of that dramatic "allll by mysee-eee-eeelf" song, which was the one they probably meant.

In that play, which was today, that song was cut by the way, also one of the songs was Boulevard of Broken Dreams, and I found that out today. So when I found it out I was like :woot:. And then they started playing it and it was just SO fail. The guitar was okay, I guess, although not quite perfect. From where we were standing we could only hear the drums (which wasn't like, out of beat (if that's the expression), but it wasn't the original drums from BOBD). The singing, well, not very good. And they just repeated the first verse for the second verse, and also started too early. And the guitar solo was just awful. It was made up and COMPLETELY off-key and just horrible

After that the guys behind me in class kept singing it without knowing the lyrics and later they printed the lyrics out and kept singing it. (and then after a while in one of the 'ahh ahh ahh' parts they started with Communist Roll'd.). Which on the one side was a bit meh because it wasn't that good, but on the other side it's MUCH better than the shit they normally sing and it was like 'yay Green Day yay Pinkpop *daydreams*"

And I have one more but most people don't read long posts in threads like thisand I really like that one so I'm gonna post it later :D

I was looking for photoshop textures today on flickr, and in the comments of one of them a user made a pic with that "School is practice..blahblah.. Why practice?" quote of Billie Joe on it  So random, it's like the last place to find something Green Day related. I laughed though, cause according to the pic the quote was by 'Billy Joe' :whistle

there was a school trip to china last week and we were watching the video of the highlights in form. at the end when they were showing the pictures of them leaving, time of your life was playing in the background.

bit shit but y'know. :P

there was last summer by lostprophets in there too, although at the end when they mentioned the song they spelt lostprophets wrong, as well as good riddance (time of your life). D:

I saw a dude in red skinnies, black shirt and black shoes today. Which then reminded me of Billie.

and I also have a note in my phone saying 'Mike dude Shakespeare' but I have yet to remember what the hell that was. I think it might have been in this movie about MacBeth in English, that some dude who was only in the video for a second looked like Mike, but I have no idea.

And today the class anthem still was Boulevard of Broken Dreams. Or more Boulevard of Broken Lyrics since they don't know the lyrics (and that's starting to get REALLY annoying after hearing the same guys 'singing' the song non-stop for two days )

Also, in Dutch, we were talking about this poem. And when I saw it I was like "holy shit this is SO similar to One of My Lies!" and it really is and it still blows my mind. It's in Dutch, but I'll post the poem anyway... I mean, it's not exactly like OoML but similar enough to make me go  Like, exactly the wondering about life and death and such..the ending not so much anymore but yeah. If you can read the poem, you'll understand what I mean, probably. Sorry to everyone who doesn't speak Dutch

Toen ik jong was, bestond ik in vormen

Van het leven, dat komen zou;

Een vervoerend de wereld doorstormen,

een lied en een eindlijke vrouw.

Het is bij dromen gebleven;

Ik heb, wat een ander ontsteelt

Aan het immer weerbarstige leven,

Slechts als mogelijkheden verbeeld.

Want ik wist door een keuze verloren

Ieder ander verlokkend bestaan

Ik heb dan ook niets verkoren,

Maar het leven is voortgegaan.

En het eind, dat ik wilde ontvluchten,

Is den aanvang gelijk, dien het had:

Onder Hollandsche regenluchten,

In een kleine Hollandsche stad.

Ingelijfd bij de bedaarden

Wordt het hart, dat geen tegenstand bood.

Men begint met het leven te aanvaarden

En eindlijk aanvaardt men den dood

I just realized that El Scorcho by Weezer has a brief style parody of Green Day.

It's the bit that's at exactly 2:00 into the song that goes:

How stupid is it? I can't talk about it

I gotta sing about it and make a record of my heart

How stupid is it? Won't you give me a minute

Just come up to me and say hello to my heart

How stupid is it?

For all I know you want me too

And maybe you just don't know what to do

Or maybe you're scared to say: "I'm falling for you"
