  • 1 year later...

oh yes. i've totally changed. people notice it too. i REALLY got into them this past summer, and came back to school and everyone was like "your wearing black nail polish. you wear black clothes. you act so different!" it's not that i'm gothic now, its just, i'm finding myself interested in things i would have never been into last year. i LOVE hot topic now. i'm so much more of a "rocker" or whatever. people tell me that all the time. i took a great interest in rock music now. i was a goodie good before, the one who never did any wrong. but after listening to green day i've changed. i take more risks and i'm more confident in who i am and who i wanna be or what i wanna do with my life. they've helped me so much. i just wish i could tell them that, face to face...

I would be completely different from the way I am now if I didn't like Green Day. If I didn't discover them I think that I would be listening to Avril Lavigne and Lady Gaga right now. Green Day also made me want to play Guitar.

I've become a completely different person since I started listening to GD, for better or for worse.

I definitely get into a lot more fights with people nowadays, because I'm not afraid to say what I think and I stand up for what I believe in.

And I'm generally much happier than I used to be.

yeah! I'm less shy, now I say what I think and I dare to tell people what I think about them even if they don't appreciate it!

and I also know now what I want to do for a living!

Definitely. Without them I honestly would not be the person I am today (people say that all the time). But thanks to Green Day I have a lot more confidence, more self-belief and more interests. They've helped me through some pretty tough times in my life aswell. I can't even explain how much this band means to me.

And also, without them I wouldn't be posting on here, and wouldn't of met some of the amazing people who I now consider my friends. :)

And this.

Lots of ways.

1. More dirty language from me.

2. I stopped listening to heavy metal and MOST hard rock (QOTSA is still in my Top 5 bands).

3. I've tried pot once. Is nice.

4. More flipping people off.

5. I don't watch cartoons like a 10-year old anymore.

Yes, without a doubt. Before I had gotten into Green Day, I didn't even really know who I was. I was just a mindless child who went along with what others said. If the news and the government said something, I believed it and never questioned it. If my parents or friends told me something, I would believe it and not question it. I did things just to make other people happy. But after getting into Green Day, I obtained something I was in desperate need of but wasn't sure how to get - a voice and opinion of my own. Green Day's music helped me understand that questioning things and going against other people wasn't cruel, it was normal and okay to do. Overall, Green Day made me much happier because they helped me get my own voice. I also used to be extremely shy. But after listening to Green Day for a while, I became a little less shy. I still am shy and withdrawn at times, but not as bad as before. My passion to want to learn how to play the drums also came from Green Day. If it wasn't for Green Day, who knows what I would be like now. Probably that same shy, people pleasing kid without a voice.

Of course GD has changed me. I'm more confident & not afraid of what the others think. (And usually they think I'm nice cause I'm being myself.)

And well... I'm learning to play the guitar ^^ I've always wanted to do that.

They've had a massive impact on my music taste and I've branched out a lot more, listening to different bands etc.

Their live shows have also made me appreciate live music on a whole new level.

But in terms of political views and how I present myself, well nothing has changed there to be honest.

Oh yeah, one more thing: before I got into Green Day, my taste in music was fairly mainstream pop, heavy metal and stupid shit like that. When my taste in music was mainstream, I had more friends. Now that I listen to GD, I have less friends. I could give two fucking shits: screw friends, listen to Green Day.

12 is only a number.

Lmao. What world are you living in that Green Day isn't mainstream?

39/Smooth, Kerplunk. My preferred albums.

Their songs helped me with certain things. But I was already 360 degrees changed years ago when I started listening to My Chemical Romance.

Green Day smoothed it out a bit.

Yeah i guess i did, cos GD made me realise who i was in a sense, and now i am more confident and whatnot and i think its the music that changed me, i was always shy and wouldn't speak out before.

Same here Emma, i wouldn't be who i was either, lets face it, i would be dead without question, if i hadn't heard green day on that one fateful day, i'd have attempted suicide again. So i suppose i can say they changed my life hell of a lot. And everything you say there is exactly the same as me.

I, without question, wouldn't be the person I am today without them. I'm the best version of myself that I can be because of these guys.

I found my voice because of them. I realized it's okay to speak my mind, and a good thing to have controversies in the world because it means people are fighting for what they believe in. This attitude made me want to be a journalist - one that is bold and doesn't give half-truths. I respect the things that Billie talks about, and if I could positively influence even a small fraction of the people that Billie influences every day, I'd feel privileged.

My range of interests grown greatly because of them - first and foremost, I found a whole new kind of music to get into. Music has always been apart of me, but when I found GD, it was like a whole new world had just opened up. Thinking about it now, I wonder what horrific %*$# I'd be listening to today if I hadn't found them.

Because of GD I'm more confident in my own skin - the day I found them was the day I stopped caring about labels and cliques. I'm just me. I dress how I dress. I act how I act. If people don't like any part of that, then I don't need them in my life. This was such an important thing to learn from them, as I realized this just going into middle school. Without this confidence, I shutter to think how bad my life could've been trying to "fit in".

I could go on and on about all the ways they have touched my life, but most importantly - I'm the happiest I've ever, ever, ever been. I can't imagine my life without them in it - I don't even want to. My life is good normally, but with them in it, it's great. These guys are more important to me than I could ever express. Every downfall, every high in my life - they're right their with me, helping me get through the hard times and celebrate the good times. I'd be lost without them, and I know that I will never come across a band - or anyone - who has so greatly influenced my life like they do every single day. I consider myself very lucky to have found them.

Wayyyyyyyyy back when I was like 12 was when I first heard them, I changed the way I dressed and views on certain things, to this day I am still the same and my mother is still pissed. She doesn't understand why I STILL dress the way I do. Actually she doesn't even understand how I could love this ONE band after 15 years. I guess she's just an old fart.
