GD Addicts Anonymous
They haven't really changed me... I don't pay attention to their political views (I'm just not into politics, and even if I was, I wouldn't let them influence my views), and I still have the same attitude as I did before I started listening to them, for the most part. I do like rock music a lot more now, though. They really helped me get into it. Before them, I was in a rap phase, and they snapped me out of it, thankfully. jimmydiedtodayandsodidi
I can't even begin to tell you how they've changed me, from little things like the way I dress to much bigger concepts like who I am, not to judge people, not to label, and then my expansion of the musical world. UR MOTHER MUHAHAHAHA!!!!!
yes Green Day has changed me alot...I used to quiet, shy and kept to myself and hardly sworenow I am loud, expressive, and I swear a shit load
TotalBasketCase13
Well, they saved my life, but the only way I think they "changed" me is I now have broader musical tastes. And I guess they helped me come out of my shell a bit because I don't really care what people think anymore (but a lot of bands helped with that too). Lolra
i think it's more my attitude towards myself that's changed.cos when i was outed as a green day fan at school, i got loadsa shit, cos they were only popular amongst a few of the skaters, so no one was sposed to like them (apparently). thing is, i'd been a fan since dookie, and it was only when i got to high school that i had to stand up for myself over my music taste, and i think that played a huge part in my increased assertiveness, as in i would verbal challenge someone rather than just hit them.it kinda made me more comfortable with the way i look and dress too, because i was always the weird looking one, until american idiot came out, adn suddenly all these people were wearing the same sorta clothes as me (albeit some were doing so cos they thought it made them punk). so i don't know if it's directly related to the band, or if it would have happened anyway, but the shit i got for being a green day fan and dressing like one definitely got me outta my shy little shell, and gained me some respect amongst my peers, adn not just cos i was top of the class. RubbishGator101
wow..take a spelling lesson. ...anyway. Yeh. They got me into being punk-rock when I was 11. I had been listening to them years before that though. They showed me all thses other awesome bands and everything. They deffinetly made a huge impact on my life. Around the same time I began to become all 'Punk-rock'-ish I picked up the guitar, It's all thanks to them.Yeah same here. And they are also the reason I started playing guitar
Tits McGee
I might be changing, but that must be a part of growing up, I doubt they have anything to do about it.But I DID buy a leash and pick for my bass guitar, so yeah.
refinerysun
I think so...I used to be shy but now I think I'm more open kind of person. They got me into punk rock and 70's and 80's bands and I learned to play guitar by playing along Green Day songs. Billie Joe is the reason why I started to play guitar. If I would have never opened the tv and taken a look for a music channel when american idiot was played there, I think I'd be very different kind of girl. I admit they changed my attitude and the way I look now too. Wow, pretty big effect from just(?) a band.

Sunshine2385
The very reason I love rock in the first place. As far as fashion goes, I wear whatever I want now without caring about people's opinions. I follow my own political views and do what I think is right for me. I don't know it's hard to say, but yeah, I felt I've been changed for the better. Before I was a pop music loving, gullible kid who just did whatever her friends/family wanted her to do. A.I. was such an empowering album and gave me a much more open mind. I then knew it was ok to question something and believe how I wanted to believe. I am able to be the minority and not feel ashamed. I've heard their music since I was 8 years old, but when I heard Minority I knew my life was about to change. Somebody was finally spreading a positive message. Suddenly, I didn't care about the trends, none of that mattered, all I cared about was me just trying to be myself. I need to stop, I could go on. My favorite Mike quote: " Rock and Roll has always been an educational source for us, whether it's punk rock or rock and roll. It has taught us to be dangerous, and ask questions and be individuals." klytaemnestra
Yeah, they opened me up into the music I like now. & I've learnt to respect other people's opinions. Oh & I'm the only kid in my school who likes GD/MCR/Paramore/whatever & I don't really mind it as much as I would've done, cuz I've learnt it's okay to be the minority. So yeah I'm proud of that now
Sunshine2385
No musician I was a fan of back in the day was saying it was ok to be yourself, it's nice to know someone cares enough to say it. Because of them I found something I could relate to especially when I was in the middle of high school, which is confusing in itself. I vowed never to try to be popular, because in the end it didn't matter. I remember taking all my britney/nsync posters and cd's and literally throwing them away. I told myself I would never look back. They weren't saying anything meaningful, or intelligent. ...DAMMIT!! I said I would stop!
Emoolly
style, no not really. it has changed since before i listened to them, but i think that was more of just myself growing older and just basically changing, because everyone changes, i don't think green day had an influence on me changing the way i dress.but as for the way i act, i geuss they sorta had an impact on me. i was alot more shy before, but then they showed me you can act like an idiot and just have fun and not worry about what other people think.i geuss i just got to look at things a whole different way when i started listening to them, and that did change me alot

haushinkapritchard
I guess in one way I would say no and in another way I would say yes...See after listening to Green Day I got into alot of great bands that I would have never have started listening to if it wasnt for them. And I guess in some ways they have inspired me to be proud of who I am. And there music gives me hope and cheers me up sometimes. But I think everyone is already the way they are, sometimes they just need something or someone to bring it out of them (like Green Day)...Like I have definatly changed since I started listening to them but I mean I was about nine when I got into them and I am 14 now so I would have changed anyways regardless of if I listened to Green Day or not.But yeah they have inspired me alot which I guess has probably changed me, and they definatly have changed the way my life turned out and I try to have a more positive outlook on life which is always good, so yeah I guess they have changed me to a certain degree But to them people who say their um "style" and so on has changed....Does that not mean you are just conforming to the way er "green day fans" are um "supposed to dress"????Or am I just being an ass???
