Boston
Green Day introduced me to punk rock. It was through them that I started checking out the scene and playing the part. They also made me feel OK about being gay, and it was through them that I met my first crush, lol.

Morgaine
Hmm... They introduced me into punk rock. And maybe they caused that I don't give a shit to what people think of me anymore. I used to worry about it so much and now I don't.
Bryn
They came along at a time in my life when I was going through a massive change, and they helped facilitate that, reinforce it. Believe me, it was a very good thing.
Prokhor
I don't know really. After the day I heard Green Day for the first time I didn't change my lifestyle as well as style in dress or my outward. And even after my first Green Day year I didn't change anything that we can call outward. But nevertheless something inside me have changed. I can't describe it, but I've learned what is a good music and a bad one; what is true emotions and what is hypocrisy. I have become more adult. And I think this is due to Green Day too... DisappearingBoy95
^Agreed. They opened my eyes to the fact that not all Americans are rednecks. Also they helped change my attitude to life, although thats part of growing up anyway.Green Day hasn't changed me, but I say 'Fuck You' to a lot more people than I did before. Oh and yes, not all Americans are rednecks or stupid for that matter. The country does currently have its head up its ass, but there is actually a small percentage of them here compared to the non rednecks. They're just stupid so ignore them. But the rest of us normal Americans don't appreciate that fact everyone is always making fun of us. Plus a lot people in this forum seem to forget that Green Day are American too. adzik1410
... but hardly any of it is lifesaving, influential, or emotionally charged.I just have to disagree on that, because some of the songs really raise my spirits, some could make me cry. But ok

saurus
i guess. maybe. but at the end of the day it's music. it's somebody else's view of things. somebody else's lyrics. and yes. they might be influencual, but they haven't "changed" me as such. "change" is the wrong word. if you ask me what a lot of people are saying is they are "copying" green day's views on stuff. i would maybe use the word "influence". they may have influenced me to do some things.x

mayday01
Green Day did change me a lot There's always those finding yourself teenage years, and Green Day entered my life at the prime of that. I was obsessed for a bit, and convinced I needed to change my entire being to like them (which is ridiculous, of course) and I started wearing black nail polish and such, band shirts, black loads, and I really just was kind of 'lost.' I was adapting to attitudes and likes that really weren't my own; I just started feeling like no one understood me, everyone sucked, I was all alone, etc. which really wasn't true. And through that change, and changing back I s'pose, I found out and felt comfortable with who I actually am. I mean I'm still changing, coming into my own, self conscience, etc. but I know much more firmly who I 'am' than I did before my Green Day morph, and interests-wise a bit. You've always got changing obsessions but I know now more firmly what I like, and as it turns out, Green Day and music aren't life to me as I previously believed. I once thought I couldn't survive the day without them, and I don't listen to them much really and have gotten on just fine. Which does sound a really corny. Most of that's growing up, but listening to Green Day did play a part.
