GreenDay808
Ugh, just ignore them, babe. Without having the balls to come out and say it, they're trying to call you a poser/teenie/groupie/whatever just because you like Hot Topic and black nail polish now. There's nothing wrong with admitting you like Hot Topic, but 99% of the human race all think it's up there with saying, 'I wanna sacrifice my firstborn's head to Satan'.I'm not part of that 99%. =Pwow. that is soo wrong. i don't worship satan and shit.so what if im a teenie? who gives a fuck? i'm sure lots of other people are also.thanks for the help also, your the good 1%
Ila Reto
i dont think they "changed" me, but they definately formed who i am today. since i discovered the band when i was 12, which is a very crucial year for character development, i've been growing up with them ever since.so of course their lyrics and ideals have been incorperated into my own personality. and i love it <3oh yes. i've totally changed. people notice it too. i REALLY got into them this past summer, and came back to school and everyone was like "your wearing black nail polish. you wear black clothes. you act so different!" it's not that i'm gothic now, its just, i'm finding myself interested in things i would have never been into last year. i LOVE hot topic now. i'm so much more of a "rocker" or whatever. people tell me that all the time. i took a great interest in rock music now. i was a goodie good before, the one who never did any wrong. but after listening to green day i've changed. i take more risks and i'm more confident in who i am and who i wanna be or what i wanna do with my life. they've helped me so much. i just wish i could tell them that, face to face...awee you're just like me when i got into green day. that's great! (i found a medium, but trust me you are not a teenie. you're not all LYKE OMGZ I WUV BILLY JOE HEs SO HAWT AND IM SO PUNX BECUZ I HEART GReeN DAy! you're a pretty good and normal fan from what i have seen. (and trust me, it's okay to think he's gorgeous....because he is ).thats the whole point of the band, to tell you that it's okay to be confident with who you are and what you want in life. im glad you figured that out at 15 ). Freeny
well i didn't really have an attitude or style when I started listening to them, hence I was only 12 when I did, but without them I could've become a compeletly different person, what do I know... Seedless_Reject
I have learned to accept the fact that I have ADD as a positive attribute instead of a negative. I have also been able to find friends that accept me for who I am, both on here and in real life. I was also able to find people that I could relate to... otherwise I'm drawing a blank
*Minority*
Definetly! When I started to listen to Green Day, I was 14 years old and it was in a crucial time, I mean it was very important to discover their music at that age, because that made a big part of who I am today!! I don't think I changed that much, I think it was more about paying attetion of what was going on whit me and around me. I think I started to be more active in social issues and I'm not so worried about being who I am as I used to be. So yeah, listen to GD was and still is very important to me and keeps guiding my way of thinking!
Moz
I hadn't even found a style or attitude before green day, and now i finally feel like i know who i am and i'm much more confident and happy for it.

Pihla
I think GD have changed me. I've started to pay attention what's happening around the world and I'm not so scared to say my opinion anymore. I used to be very shy and I'm still but not so much. My style and attitude has changed.First when I heard some GD song I didn't really like it. But then, when I later heard more of their songs... it was like "YES! EXACTLY!" I realised that their lyrics actually made sense lol.Anyways they just make me happy. They've made me realise that it's okay to tell your opinion and be exactly who you are. Who would want to be around people who don't accept you as who you are? Before I just tried to follow crowd and be accepted but not anymore. There's always people who don't like you so why even try. I am much more confident in myself now
¡Juliana Homicide!
I wouldn't say I'm a whole new person because of Gren Day, but they inspired me in different ways. I'm not very bad-ass and never will be, but their whole "We don't give a shit about what others think" attitude inspires me and makes me feel better about myself. I also think that they've made me feel more okay with being angry, when someone pisses me off I often feel better after listening to some angry Green Day songs. They've also helped me discover what being into music is all about, I don't listen to "whatever is on the radio" anymore. And yeah, they also inspired my way of dressing and styling my hair. Papercut
Just wondering if anyone has any amazing stories....Heres mine:When i was 9, my dad was diagnosed with cancer in his neck. It was stage 2 and the doctors said that the operation will either be fatal or that he would never be able to use his right arm again. Just about a month before that we had started to foster my now brother and sister, twin 6 month-old premies. Trent, the boy, was not expected to make it past 1 year and Tricia, the girl, would have severe mental problems and probably never grow psat a 6 month old. With all of this thrown at me at once, i went into a depression, things just always seemed to get worse, never better. At that point i had just given up on life and started cutting. Every night I added to the growing number of scars and cuts all up and down my forearms. But one day that changed. My friend had given me a burned copy of her Warning cd, as i had misplaced mine about a year before. I listened to it that night, their voices caused me to stop... just for a second and look up, and there they were, on my wall, looking back at me. It made me think. I care about them, even though i've never met them, probably never will and i won't mean anything to them ever, but i still care. and even though i felt as if the world had deserted me, there might still be that one person out there that cares. Even after that, i continued to cut, but never as deep, never as much, just enough to satisfy myself. Its like trying to quit smoking, it takes a while to weane yourself off them, but i did stop. They are my lifesavers, they got me through, i truly believe that if it wasn't for them, i would be dead right now.My dad made a full recovery and can move his arm, not any higher that his shoulder, but its a miracle that he can move it at all. My brother and sister are now 7 and healthy, happy, smart kids. Trent wants to be Tre Cool when he grows up cuz he thinks hes "super cool" and he loves the drums. Tricia wants to be a singer like Billie Joe cuz hes cute. I cry when i look at my posters of those 3 angels. those 3 amazing men who kept me alive when i felt i had nothing left. My only goal if life is to thank them, in person. and no matter what it takes i will do that.
Trina
That's an awesome story. Fuzz
That's quite a story. My life has been changed by them quite dramatically for a few reasons. I've been able to travel around the US a couple times to see them, have met an incredible amount of really awesome people, and because my passion for them brought me to work on GDA, i've been able to work on these sites for 5+ years and continue to feel privileged that their managers talk to me to help get information out. Outside of just the GDA stuff, there have been a fair amount of times when they've helped me cope with depression or just general feeling-down-days. They still have that effect on me, though I don't listen to them nearly as much as I used to. It's easy to get burnt out when you're looking at "Green Day" all day long. Sarahnade.
I don't think they've changed me, but they've definetly helped me develop into who I am now. I've listened to them for years, so much, that I can't help but let it morph me in a way. And when my depression kicks in and stuff, listening to them makes the world melt away. They either cheer me up, or help me realize that other people are just as fucked up as me and people I know. It's nice, I guess.

Freeny
OK, so my last post in this thread didn't make Green Day justice, haha. Now that I've seen them I realize just how much they mean to me. If it wasn't for them, I probably would never have met my friend Lucy, who I saw them with both times. Them playing shows etc has given me something in life to look forward to, and now that I'm going to see them in London I'm just so thankful for them giving me a real adventure, an even bigger one that I had the first times I saw them. When it comes to Green Day shows I've always been all "I'm going, that's just the way it is", and my determination has made it possible. This mights sound weird but because of the London-show this summer I'm getting a job, and it'll be my first paying job ever, haha. So maybe I should thank them for that too? I wonder how many people can thank Green Day help you to get a job XD But yeah, I really look forward to this summer! If it wasn't for Green Day I don't think I'd be as happy with stuff as I am now. They also inspired me to want to start playing instruments, and if I hadn't started that I would be in a way different place than I am now. I'm studying a music-program at School and sometime this year my class will play in front of an audience. It's going to be the first time ever since I was little that I actually stood on stage. Now that I'll have the guitar in my hand I think I'll feel way more confident than I did then, too.Sooo.. Thanks Green Day, you're awesome! novacaine_kid
Lots of ways. They introduced me to punk rock, they inspired me to write my own stuff, their songs have always been the soundtrack to so many moments in my life, and their concerts have given me some of the most amazing experiences I've ever been a part of. To me they are the most important band in my life, by a very long way
