How has Green Day changed your life?

Green Day Freak 1

I think we need to put on '21 Guns' and see what happens :eyebrows: Or better yet! What a better way to serenade a love one than with Dominated Love Slave. That's how I lure them in.

"DLS", for sure. They'd totally be into it.

Same for me. I wouldn't be me without them.

I shudder to think at the possibilities of who I might have turned out had I not heard "Holiday" on the radio when I did. I could have been a Young Republican!

^ Haha, I know, right? I've always been interested in politics, but Green Day really got me interested in current events and even more into politics than I already was. My parents are Democrats, so I probably would've turned out Democrat anyway, but Green Day definitely gave me the extra nudge.

I do think having Democrats and Republicans definitely limits your way of thinking. It shouldn't be a competition, it should be doing what is best for the country and it's citizens. That has nothing to do with anything, though, sorry.

I could go on forever about how Green Day has effected my life. I've finally narrowed it down to a few sentences:

They made me who I am. They make me happy. I don't know what I would do without them. I love them.

My mom is a Democrat, my dad is a Republican. I probably would have been a strongly opinionated Democrat anyway, but, yeah, Green Day did give me that little push to become the bleeding heart liberal I am today.

You summed it up perfectly.

They definitely did..As I started to became a fan ( I know the music since I was 8, because my best friend Karsten forced me to listen to Warning, so I originally started with Warning) I was a hip hopper girl..and the lyrics touched me and made me a complety different person..I'm so happy, that he let me listen to Warning..Green Day changed my life a lot and gave it a sense..so..Thank you guys!!

Ugh, just ignore them, babe. Without having the balls to come out and say it, they're trying to call you a poser/teenie/groupie/whatever just because you like Hot Topic and black nail polish now.

There's nothing wrong with admitting you like Hot Topic, but 99% of the human race all think it's up there with saying, 'I wanna sacrifice my firstborn's head to Satan'.

I'm not part of that 99%. =P

Yes, absolutely. Things such as being who I want to be, and doing things I want to do, and believing in myself :)

Yeah, they made me be more into music and to be more open to new bands. I also probably wouldn't have started writing songs and other stuff if it wasn't for Green Day. They help me when I'm not feeling great and I just want that energy that I need to get better again.

Yeah they we're more of encouraging to be my own person and I grew up stealing my brothers Green Day albums so I don't know to be anyone else. Green Day we're more supportive of do what you want to do, consiquences me dammed.

If I didn't listen to them I'd probably be a bit more sheltered... and not as dirty minded, let me tell ya. They inspire me to be happy and run around naked. And do things because I WANT to and not because people tell me to.

They also inspire me to sometimes tell the people I love to fuck off if I need some time to crawl in my bass drum until morning... ew that'd be nasty it just SMELLS of wood... and not the good kind.

im a totally different person.

im less afraid to fight for myself and my beliefs, so people who know me dont fuck with me usually. although im still so laid back alot of people still do

i wear different clothes. all black and a bandana on my jeans like Billie

i can be spontaneous like Tre, silent like Mike, or just...like Billie. i find myself saying like and y'know alot more than i used to

i didn't know what music could mean untill these guys, they made me want to be in a band of my own and now im working towards that.

i give them credit for my rebelious attitude.

basically. they created me

I believe that both GD and GDC has a huge impact on me and honestly I think that GDC has turned me into a different person.

Green Day did not exactly change the person you were in that way with politics. They may make you more aware or encourage you to do some research and shift through it and find out what you believe and where you lie. But they do not exactly base your political views from them. Like there are Green Day fan's whom are Republican. You yourself actually formulated those views and throught them through. Or at least I hope you did and were informed.

Yeah, they did. When I really got into their music, I was about 13 or 14 and I was just figuring out who I was and what I believed it. They influenced my oppinions a lot. Like before, I wasn't interested in politics at all, I didn't really care about what was going on in the world.

In the beginning, I became very rebellious, I kinda tried to become "a real punk" and I had lots of fight with my parents about it. Later, I realized that I don't have to look like a punk to have my own opinion. When I was 15, Green Day helped me through the hardest year of my life and they made me stronger and motivated me to stand up for my believes.

Today they still have a huge influence on me, they make me think about what's going on in the world, about politics, religions, society and I still have some kind of a "punk attitude" towards some things. I don't really dress like a punk though, I wear Chucks and a studded belt, but that's it. I don't think clothes are important.

I agree, clothes aren't important to being punk.

I actually hate when people go all out and say that they are punk because they dress a certain way and don't have any other connotation to the lifestyle or anything and that those who don't dress punk aren't 'real' or 'poser's' Hmm.

I couldn't agree more. I wear Chucks and skinny black jeans, and sometimes pins & patches and stuff, but mostly to show other people who I am. It's a shame that "punk style" is so fashionable, it's hard to tell if people are wearing those clothes because they're punk or because they think that it looks cool.

Fashion = NOT COOL. :down:

I don't Green Day changed me that much, I mean, it was already there, but they just brought all of my personality traits out further, and I'm way more obnoxious now. xD

I bet most real punks rarely use the word 'punk' in a sentence. Only gangsters use that word several times a day just as some derogatory term to cheeky pricks, i will never know why.

Well, gangsters and poser punks, obviously, only use that word that obsessively.

It might sound excruciatingly typical, but Green Day has really changed me as a person. GD is what really introduced me to what it means to be punk, and what drove me to start questioning what society set as my norm. Green Day is such a huge part of who I am today, its hard to believe I would ever follow anything else.

I didn't change my style.

But since I grew up listening to them, they definitely had a huge impact on how I think now and how I am now.

If I didn't have Green Day to lean on for all the shit that has happened in my life, I definitely wouldn't be the person I am today.

They helped me handle a lot of things better than I would've if I didn't have them.

They're the one thing that no matter how shitty of a day I can be having, they make me smile endlessly when someone brings them up, or when I see them, or when I listen to them.

Instead of flipping a shit when someone pisses me off, I just listen to Green Day and everything goes good.

Thanks to Green Day, I'm not scared to be the loudest person ever.

I don't get nervous or ever worry about what people are thinking of me, I just think, fuck them who gives a shit.
