How has Green Day changed your life?

Green Day Freak 1

Definitely. Without them I honestly would not be the person I am today (people say that all the time). But thanks to Green Day I have a lot more confidence, more self-belief and more interests. They've helped me through some pretty tough times in my life aswell. I can't even explain how much this band means to me.

And also, without them I wouldn't be posting on here, and wouldn't of met some of the amazing people who I now consider my friends. :)

this.

+ I learned to play guitar because of them. I'm so happy about that

if it hadent been for them i dont know where id be at all.

they got me into music in general, if it hadent been for them i wouldnt have my beautiful les paul custom :) or my bass or my drumkit. or half of my wardrobe, or my style. id just be a regular person that doesnt stand out. im getting a green day tattoo next year. I've grown up listening to Green Day and rock music in general, so i havent really changed, i've always been the way i am. The music over the years, as i've become more into the lyrics rather than "that song sounds nice", now thats changed my attitude of the world around me and towards myself, not necessarily in a positve way either.

I would like to think that theyre going to be my favourite band for the rest of my life as they have been for a long time now. But as i've experienced over the past few weeks, nothing is forever, really :/ so who knows:)

Green Day has changed my life alot. I know some people think that a band shouldn't change you, but I feel like many things change you whether the change be a small tweak or a 180 and that if things change you for the good, then so be it. I got into Green Day this month, five years ago. I was eleven and was going into my last year of primary school. Today I am 16 and am going into my last year of secondary school. I wouldn't be who I am if it weren't for Green Day. I'd be worse.

If it weren't for Green Day I very probably would not have gotten into music so besides missing out on them I'd also miss out on all the other amazing artists. I would be far less of an individual and I'd just try and be like everyone else. I would feel far more isolated and I would feel I was insane because of my anxiety, paranoia and depression. I wouldn't have found punk and chosen that lifestyle for myself. I'd have not gotten into fashion and art. I'd have no real interests. I wouldn't have connected with my family and in particular my dad so much. I wouldn't have such strong opinions on things and I'd be less educated, less strong-willed. There'd be a massive void in my life and I know for certain that I wouldn't be here (and I don't mean GDC).

I don't copy or take on Green Day's beliefs, tastes, styles, etc but they helped me realise that it was great to have my own and to be myself. To stand for something. To live for something. I love this band and I cannot describe what they mean to me.

You said I was trying to say much more eloquently. I agree with every word, I really do. All the points of your life that they've touched - it's the same for me!

I can't say that they have changed the way I look at the world, because I've always been an individual and I've never let anyone tell me what to say/do/think. BUT, they've definitely made me think more about myself and my own actions. I've realized that I have to try and be more positive and not let my own thoughts get the best of me. I made a huge mistake this spring (I ended up hurting myself physically & mentally). Those songs (especially 21CB album) got me through some really bad days. If I hadn't listened to them, I think this summer would have been a disaster or at least a lot worse than it was.

I think they've definately influenced me as a person...

mostly just to be myself and not try to "fit in" because its easier to be loved by who you are instead of trying to be someone else...

and JAR influenced me a lot so now I appriciate people more and I try to be optimistic everyday.

:) :)

lately i have started to change the way i dress, like wearing black skinny jeans, slim fit shirts, anything 'dark' coloured etc. i used to wear regular jeans and baggy shirts, but it seems i have grown out of that phase.

i have also found a passion in playing the guitar; thanks to green day for the inspiration.

i like to follow billie joe's fashion sense, and i have had my hair styled like his hair ever since the American Idiot days.

as for attitude, i guess as i have matured, i have started to understand and realise what green day have been saying in their songs for years.

They really have. I went through School listening to them every day and they helped me get through some hard times. But they were also there for the good times. Every Green Day song I listen to brings back and old memory, it's awesome. As for changing the way I dress, they've not really influenced me in this way. I'm still not sure why anyone would wear a lot of black because someone in a band does, I still wear music influenced clothing. But I find it important to be yourself :)

Yeah, they did. When I really got into their music, I was about 13 or 14 and I was just figuring out who I was and what I believed it. They influenced my oppinions a lot. Like before, I wasn't interested in politics at all, I didn't really care about what was going on in the world.

In the beginning, I became very rebellious, I kinda tried to become "a real punk" and I had lots of fight with my parents about it. Later, I realized that I don't have to look like a punk to have my own opinion. When I was 15, Green Day helped me through the hardest year of my life and they made me stronger and motivated me to stand up for my believes.

Today they still have a huge influence on me, they make me think about what's going on in the world, about politics, religions, society and I still have some kind of a "punk attitude" towards some things. I don't really dress like a punk though, I wear Chucks and a studded belt, but that's it. I don't think clothes are important.

They were my gateway to punk. They didn't specifically change me, but they influenced me to look at other bands and artists, and all that combined changed me. Or maybe not changed, more like allowed me to figure myself out. Politically and socially, my views were already in tune with punk culture/GD, I just didn't know anything about it before jumping in headfirst. Fashion and stuff changed a little, but I'd always been sorta...out there...clothing wise.

Most importanly, Green Day gave me music back. I was in school band for 7 years, and I decided when I graduated I didn't want ANYTHING to do with music. I was a percussionist. Luckily, I found the guys the summer before my senior year and after a few months of thinking and drooling over a Mike Dirnt P Bass, I got the cheapest instrument at Guitar Center and spent a year learning it. Now I have my MD bass, and I've never been happier playing music. If they hadn't come into my life, I probably would have given up one of the things that is most important in my life.

They also make me happier. I was pretty depressed before finding them, but realizing I wasn't alone in the world helped. And don't get me started on how concert high's help me...GD also showed me that you wanna be in the pit at a show, lol. Thanks to the FBHT with standing room only...

Like many other here, they introduced me to punk rock - something that is continuously encouraging me to see things from different perspectives, be informed, question everything, stand up for what I believe in and actually contribute to society (not that I'm doing much of that right now by sitting on my a** in front of the computer but anywayz), - if that's not a change in myself because of GD then I don't know what is.

i definitely changed since I started listening to Green Day. Before I got into them I was very very nerdy and was into some real crappy music. Thankfully that changed. I started wearing band t-shirts and getting into punk music and totally changed my appearance. I think I scared my family members for a while there. I had a complete attitude change as well. I got into the messages the music was conveying and started to get involved more in things going on in the world. I became rebellious at school (which was stupid). I became the person I had been waiting to become for 13 years, and I am now more comfortable with who I am than I could've possibly imagined back then. Green Day definitely changed my life for the better and made me who I am. Strange how that happens.

They have definitely made a huge difference in my life and made me a better person. For a start, they've opened me up to so many different bands and genres linked to their music. I've always been into music as it's a first love of mine, but being an older Green Day fan than when I was 5-10 I wasn't into too many bands. I also think that they've helped me bond with so many people and also helped me find some the my best friends I've ever had. I thank them every day that they're in my life, as sad as that sounds, but I do really owe a lot to them. I love them :(

Green Day didn't just change my life, they made my life. Listening to Green Day helped me make friends as a shy eleven-year-old. That was the same year Bush and Kerry ran for president, so following GD's lead I started watching the news more often...and I "voted" for Kerry in our school's mock election. Now at sixteen I'm a proud bleeding heart godless liberal.

And they did influence the way I dress. My mother personally blames them for all the black I have in my wardrobe.

Exactly what I was thinking about you.

I think we need to put on '21 Guns' and see what happens :eyebrows: Or better yet! What a better way to serenade a love one than with Dominated Love Slave. That's how I lure them in.
