Favourite Line from a Green Day Song

Right now I really like:

Maybe you're the runner up, but the first one to lose the race...

and

I'm a hater, a traitor in a pair of Chuck Taylors right now...

and of course one of my alltime favorites

There is no place like home when you got no place to go... So damn right, Billie!

It's a tie between...

"If you could see inside my head

Would you start to understand

The things I value in my heart" - JAR

...and...

"Gotta make a plan

Gotta do what's right

Can't run around in circles

If you wanna build a life

But I don't wanna make a plan

For a day far away

While I'm young and while I'm able

All I wanna do is..." - JAR

...such an amazing song! :D

And I think its alright,

That I do what I like cause thats the way I wanna live

I love J.A.R.

Oooh yes, J.A.R. is amazing, I recently fell in love with it all over again

"Dont test me. Second guess me. Protest me you will disappear"

"I can hear the sound of a beating heart, That bleeds beyond a system that's falling apart, With money to burn on a minimum wage, I don't give a shit about the modern age"

The line from Knowledge

"All I know is that I don't know

All I know is that I don't know nothing"

'Cause when they came to Chile (1998), BJ singing that part in Spanish and it was beautiful...

I also the line from "letterbomb"

You're not the Jesus of Suburbia

The St. Jimmy is a figment of

Your father's rage and your mother's love

Made me the idiot America

I love that part

I love lines that just lead up to like, an instrumental rant. Like in letterbomb-

"Where will all the martyrs go when the virus cures itself?

And where will we all go, when it's too late?"

And then the scream.

Are you locked up in the world, that's been planned out for you?

Are you feeling like a social tool without a use?

Sceam at me until my ears bleed

I'm taking heed just for you.

 LOVE!

lol, these lyrics always confused me:

"ain't this uniform so flattering? i never asked you a goddamn thing!"

but...didn't he just ask if his uniform looked good? lol nice going billie

i don't know if someone already replied to this, so sorry if you did, but i think what that line means is he's asking about his uniform and if it looks good, and we're to pretend that someone didn't think it looked good, so then he goes nuts and says "well, i didn't ask you a goddamn thing!" because he's offended.

lol at least thats what i think

and my favorite line is

"the brutality of reality is the freedom that keeps me from dreaming" - before the lobotomy

Holy shit, that's what that line says? I always thought it said:

"The brutality of reality/ It's our freedom, that keeps me from dreaming"

I LOVE that line.

"when its time to live and let die

and you cant get another try

something inside this heart has died

you're in ruins"

"life's a bitch and so am i the world owes me so fuck u"

" i beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies"

"kill all the fags that don't agree"

These are some of the lyrics I remember well from the concerts I went to <3. You know how you come out after a show and heaps is a blur, but there are always little bits that always stick in your head and replay in your mind when you listen to the songs afterward? Yeah that.

I now love this song and it's lyrics so much more!!! hehe

You like that line ? :ermm:

I like that line - and the others that go with it - in the context of the song and the way they're delivered...

And you lost all sense of control

And you thoughts have taken their toll

When your mind breaks the spirit of your soul"

I love the end of this song

Does he really say play at the end? Cause I don't hear anything. Maybe I'm just crazy haha.

"A sullen riot penetrating through her mind" -She

"One light, one mind, flashing in the dark, blinded by the silence of a thousand broken hearts" -Minority

That's all I can think of for now :)

Reading through these lyrics makes me happy  Theres so many good ones!

I love the end of J.A.R. and 'Home is where the heart is but what a shame.....' etc.

Also I don't know why but I like 'Where have all the bastards gone?' from Letterbomb...I think its just because I love the song and the way it's sang :D

A lot of them make me smile or inspire me, but when narrowing it all down, my favorite is she screams in silence, a sullen riot penetrating through her mind. Waiting for a sign to smash the silence with the brick of self control as well as the entire chorus of She (hence my username).

That's a little more than a line, but oh well. :)

Actually, I think it's supposed to be a contradicting statement because most religious fanatics are literal "walking contradictions". I always felt that East Jesus Nowhere focused more on blasting the hypocrisy of religions, and that's one of the lines in the song that sheds light on the theme.

"I swallowed my pride and I choked on my faith, I've given my heart and my soul. I've broken my fingers and lied through my teeth, the pillar of damage control." - My favorite lyrics of all time. I think that everybody can relate to it in some way, swallowing the pride you have for yourself and/or something else, choking on whatever faith you have, giving your heart and soul and getting nothing in return, breaking your fingers (not literally) over something, lying to make someone feel better or protect them, and ultimately being a pillar of damage control both physically and emotionally. That's deep.
