Favourite Line from a Green Day Song

I was listening to American Idiot on the way to work this morning and the line "Now everybody do the propaganda!" just really stood out to me suddenly. I laughed because it just sounds so clever, using such a conventional instruction with the word "propaganda." And it's doubly amazing when you watch the video and see him twist and dance as he sings the line. Wonderful

Oooh, I have a few.

'A gag, a plastic bag on a monument' - Holiday

'Call me pathetic, call me what you will' - Longview

'Give me a long kiss good night and everything'll be alright' - Give Me Novacaine

'I wanna take you through a wasteland I like to call my home' - Welcome to Paradise

'like chewing on tinfoil it's so much fun' - Ha Ha You're Dead

I could go on..

At the moment I'm loving 'You're a stray from the Salvation Army' from Viva La Gloria? (Little Girl).

at the moment:

"well the world is a sick machine, breeding a mass of shit"

I looove that line, idk if it's my favorite but I luv it

You're not the Jesus of Suburbia

The St. Jimmy is a figment of

Your father's rage and your mother's love

Made me the idiot America

That's definitely one of my favorites

"Every time I look in my past

I always wish I was there

I wish my youth would forever last

Why are these times so unfair"

I love how he sings that, he like exaggerates there, forever, and unfair. lol :P

I like the line from Homecoming...

"Here they come marching down the street

Like a desperation murmur of a heart beat

Coming back from the edge of town

Underneath their feet..."

I also like these likes from Letterbomb...

"You're not the Jesus of Suburbia

The St. Jimmy is a figment of

Your father's rage and your mother's love

Made me the idiot America"

This.

I also like this line from Jackass:

"To know you is to hate you

So loving you must be like suicide."

and

this line from Stuart and the Ave:

"I may be dumb,

But I'm not stupid enough to stay with you."

"Take away the sensation inside, bitter sweet migrane in my head.

It's like a throbbing toothache of the mind."

"Hey you looking at me, tell me what do you see"

"...and mack me in the forehead with a chain!"

"So when are all my troubles going to end I'm understanding now that we're only friends, to this day I'm asking why I still think about you"

"Christians crying in the bathroom,

and I just want to bum a cigarette,

we've come so far, we've been so wasted,

it's written all over our faces"

.... and tre and mike's part from homecoming.

"I want to know who's allowed to breed

All the dogs who never learned to read

Missionary politicians

And the cops of a new religion"

"So what ails you is what impales you

You are your own worst enemy

You're a victim of the system"

"All I want to know

Is a God-damned thing

Not what's in the medicine

All I want to do is

I want to breathe

Batteries are not included

What's the latest way that a man can die

Screaming hallelujah?

Singing out "The dawn's early light"

The silence of the rotten, forgotten"

"Did you try to live on your own

When you burned down the house and home?

Did you stand too close to the fire?

Like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone"

I'm not fucking around, I think I'm coming out

It says home is where you're heart is but what a shame, 'cause everyone's heart doesn't beat the same

I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies, this is the dawning of the rest of our lives, on holiday

It's a tie between...

"If you could see inside my head

Would you start to understand

The things I value in my heart" - JAR

...and...

"Gotta make a plan

Gotta do what's right

Can't run around in circles

If you wanna build a life

But I don't wanna make a plan

For a day far away

While I'm young and while I'm able

All I wanna do is..." - JAR

...such an amazing song! :D

Oh wow. Been way too long since I've listened to that song properly!

I always loved those last few lines though!

at the moment my favourite lines are in Static Age.

I'm obsessed with:

Billboard on the rise in the dawn's landscape,

working your insanity

Tragic a la madness and concrete,

coca cola execution

oh gosh, I just love it so much
