Favourite Line from a Green Day Song

Not a Green Day lyric as such, but i was thinking of this, this morning...

"You're a bunch of funny little people!"

... from Woodstock '94.

I love the way he says that. Quite a humorous Green Day show by all accounts!

i've been thinking about When I Come Around tonight, i love the song to death but sometimes i cant get the lyrics right for the life of me!

"im just roaming for the moment sleazing my backyard so dont get so uptight"

now how the heck to i actually sing that! lol

-----------

i think it's unhealthy that im so addicted to On the Ave lately.

listening to it over and over atm, may as well post some lyrics.

"We chased each other wet and soggy like a crashing wave

Grey and filthy in the gutter breaking all over the place

Down the ave. in the pouring rain

Saying, even more! even more!

At the reservoir you impaled your wrist

On razor wire climbing the fence

I cut my thumb trying to climb into the blind-deaf school"

[edit] im posting the whole thing

"I had some friends, a psychotic couple

They had a room in a residential hotel

They fought in the bed

While we fucked on the floor

We'd only slept an hour together when

The manager set the place ablaze

I awoke to the smoke and flames

and had to kick down the door

Time rolls over me

Time rushes over me

Why try to run so fast

It still passes you by

Why talk about what could have been

Why walk around lost reliving moments

Why walk around at all

When it's easier to drive a car"

oh my god :cry::wub:  beautiful song!

I have to listen to On The Ave at least once a day too. And Anniversary Song. And West Side Highway.

My favourite Pinhead lyrics are from Brother - "Well you selfish little motherfucker, I hope I never live to see you hurt another, cuz life you touch is life you smother - like mine..."

I also love the way lines and themes from Pinhead songs crop up in GD ones.

Actually I really like this one too:

I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies

This is the dawning of the rest of our lives

yeah. its not my favorite but its all i can be bothered to say now

"In the streets of shame

Where you've lost your dreams in the rain

There's no signs of hope

The stems and seeds of the last of the dope

There's a glow of light

The St. Jimmy is the spark in the night

Bearing gifts and trust

The fixture in the city of lust

What the hell's your name?

What's your pleasure and whats your pain?

Do you dream to much?

Do you think what you need is a crutch?

In the crowd of pain. St. Jimmy comes without any shame

He says “we're fucked up”

But we're not the same

And mom and dad are the ones you can blame

Jimmy died today !

He blew his brains out into the bay

In the state of mind it's my own private suicide"

I cant choose a favourite line from here ,

They're all amazing

I wanna be the minority

I don't need your authority

Down with the moral majority

Cos I wanna be the minority

Fantastic!

yeah, there is a pause after 'so don't get', before he starts the next line. but i always mix those lyrics, one part of the verse with another.

but minority is great. the lyrics in those verses are brilliant.

"better thank your lucky stars." I think it's in the song waiting. since some dood already took it in myspace, I put mine with "starx". I did the best I could.

And he don't even know that you exist

Standing still when it's do or die

You better run for your fucking life!"

It's hard to pick a favourite line from Waiting, but I think these really get me:

"I've been waiting for a long time

For this moment to come

I'm destined for anything at all"

It's such a fucking amazing, hopeful song

Oh my, I'm also still addicted to On The Ave

Yeah totally! "I Walk Alone" springs to mind :D. And I like how each Pinhead album/EP seems to be related to whatever Green Day album they were working on at the time. Like how Carry The Banner has slightly angry, bitter songs, like Insomniac. And the later songs are a bit more folky, like Warning. It's cool how that happened even though it was Aaron writing the songs. What an amazing songwriter he is, I can read those lyrics for hours!

I love Crazy Horse,

Sitting...with a mischievous grin

Staring...she drew me in with her eyes

And held me there with her lips

Completely agree! I always thought MPLS Song (even though its off of Jump Salty) sounded like something that would be on Insomniac..

"Broke and lonely, cold and hungry

and though it may sound funny

I'm doing alright...

It's another dreary night."

"dumbstruck, colour me stupid."

- waiting.

anything from any song from insomniac, especially;

"the world is a sick machine breeding a mass of shit.

[...]

i wanna jump out."

- panic song.

& the whole of misery & letterbomb. [:

Yeah, that's pretty much some of the greatest lines ever written lol I love that entire song.

Dumbstruck, color me stupid/Good luck! You're gonna need it/where I'm/going if I get there at all!... oh, I'm so much closer than I have ever known... Wake up!

WOOT!

But what I came in here to share is this line, probably in my top 5 favorite lines in ANY GD song, for some reason. I put this as my myspace status a lot lol

Where do we go from here and what did you do with the directions? Promise me no dead end streets, and I'll guarantee we'll have the road...

I think that entire song is brilliant, really.

Staring out of my window

Watching the cars go rolling by

my friends are gone

I've got nothing to do

So I sit here patiently

watching the clock tick so slowly

gotta get away or my brains will explode.

Basically the whole song....

Come to think of it, MPLS Song always make me think of Welcome To Paradise. Something about the lyrics - especially those lines, funnily enough.

It's definitely one of my favourite Pinhead songs, the whole thing is beautiful. My favourite line is

"Shiny lights are shining down on me, down on me, down on me!"

^ same, i've been obsessed with the song since I first heart it. The lyrics, the way he sings it; I can't really pinpoint it, but I know it's one of my all time favorites.

I love that song, too - it makes me feel so wistful.

I've been listening to my Green Day Plus Sides playlist all evening, and I've heard most of the songs people have discussed just above (Church on Sunday, MPLS, On the Ave v2, Waiting, Christie Road, Panic Song ...). I love shuffle.

Anyway, this line from Letterbomb just played - so simple, but ... the way he sings it ...

"...and don't look back..."

What a voice with what a heart behind it!

I hadn't really associated it with Welcome to Paradise, but now that you mention it...

I am in love with his voice as he starts the song-

"Iggy Pop is playing downtown.."

Definitely not sappy!

One of the best songs off of Jump Salty.

Although Keeping Warm in the Nighttime is my other favorite

..hopes and dreams and even impossible schemes seem possible

anything's possible, everything seems so clear."

Today I am completely obsessed with the snarling, spitting rant in the middle of Platypus. Sums up exactly how I feel about someone.
