^Oh my god, your sig is amazing

Poprocks is such a heartfelt song, loved it when it came out with International Superhits and still do! Fits in with the Warning era, where i think Billie Joe was coming to terms with how important his marriage was.

I love it when it builds up towards the end.... "if you should fall, you know i'll be there!"

Bllie's voice is great in this song.

Agreed. I love how the lyrics look so simple on the face of it, but they mean so much. The simple phrase "you know I'll be there" is really effective, it's such an honest song.

Although now whenever I hear it I think of Tre Cool saying in an interview that it's a good song to make out to

Isn't it 'I'll go anywhere, so I'll see you there?'

I might be wrong...

You are SO right!

I should always check lyrics when I've had a glass of wine before posting :)

^ yeah, liking that one too!

Listening to Desensitized this morning and thought of this thread...

"Give it all away.... give it to me NOW!!!"

Love the way he says that bit!

:o I'm very partial to the way he growls that line too.

I've been enjoying Do Da Da lately, what a brilliant little quirky song it is,

"Handcuff your soul to my wrist

And I'll vow my trust to you"

Love that imagery!

It's one of their better love songs... but if ya think about it, they don't have toooo many love songs. Mainly on 1039 and Kerplunk. There's some here and there...

I think, on some songs, Billie Joe's voice is so sweet. Precious  Like The Saints Are Coming, there at the beginning? Gah. I love him lol

That song is the smeg, it will be played at my wedding, if I ever get married  and if the groom objects, well, he won't be my groom :) for real, I want it played after/when we kiss. I've wanted that ever since I heard the song the first time... I just love it...

Rush into my depression

Sacrifice everything!

Waste with me into nothing

Well now you're stuck with me! Stuck with me! Stuck with me!

 makes me so hoooppy.

Oh my god, that would be a fabulous wedding. Any man who wanted that song would definitely be worth marrying! And then you could swing-dance to Foxboro Hot Tubs at the reception :woot:

^Ooh, I love that song. My favorite lines are:

"Are you locked up in a world that's been planned out for you?"

and

"Scream at me until my ears bleed."

Of course you can! The whole community is invited... you'll even be on the same table as the band themselves!

 Have to make sure you keep the leopard print thong on for the wedding night too.

Good point, noted. For her pleasure, of course.

even though i can't pick a favorite song, i usually tell people (meaning people i talk to via internet of course)

that my favorite song is Do Da Da. it's very special to me- as is the whole shenanigans album.

anyway, i never thought it was "handcuff", but then again the shenanigan lyrics on gda has been known to be wrong at times.

oh well!

----

what's this i hear of a green day theme wedding eh?! YES! i shall be there immediately!

as for lyrics...erh....

"So when you think you're all alone, noone's left to come around, drop like flies and empathize

cuz i know that i will someday.

and i know that i will suffocate"

A Green Day theme wedding!! Hadn't thought of that.

"You and I together,

hand in hand, we run away

(far away!)"

:)

Absolutely, I plan on it! I'll let people throw Poprocks at me on our way out  but not coke... that would be... disastrous...

ooooooooh Roshambo just came on!

I don't believe I asked opinion (?)

I don't believe I've stretched the truth

I am not looking for a bargain

All I really believe in is yooooou...

at least that's what it sounds like to me. That's what I sing when I sing along... I love this song...

:o I'd never looked up the lyrics before, you're right, it's apparantly "hand up your soul to my wrist"

BUT there's no official lyrics so that must just be what random people think it is. "Hand up" sounds like nonsense to me, it makes no sense. So I'm sticking with "handcuff", that way the line makes sense, and it's much better :P

^ totally. i was thinking about that before...handcuff makes a lot more sense.

and gives a clearer image

i also noticed that some of the 39/sosh lyrics differ at times. in my tab book, it has the lyrics, and they appear different than the ones in the album booklet.

i'll put those up sometime, when i find the tab book lol.

"I'm hexed with regrets and bad luck

so keep your distance- it's rubbing off.

or you will be damned to spend your life in hell

on earth with me tangled at your feet."

nice.

I'm impressed by how many clever "putting himself down" phrases he crams into that song. Of course what makes it even better is he's being totally sarcastic, it's some proper nasty biting wittiness. Love it.

The line "Torture me, I've been a bad boy" is a source of major amusement in my household

Ha, yeah, I love that line - 'torture me, i've been a bad boy' - and he actually sounds very childish when he says it XD

I forgot how much I loved that song, I haven't listened to Nimrod in a long time, I really should. The album is full of ingenius lyrics like those.

I loved this verse from 'Jinx', as well:

"A slap on the wrist

A stab in the back

Torture me, I've been a bad boy

Nail me to the cross until you have won

I lost before I did any wrong"
