blitzkriegdeb
These awards are for music videos, and unfortunately they've released two unremarkable music videos. If they start being a bit braver with their choice of singles and videos (whoever it is that chooses them, fairly sure not the band), they might get somewhere. Honestly, you'd think a band that sticks their neck out to make such a wonderful ambitious album would be allowed to stick their neck out a bit more with what they release from it. Releasing the two most conventional songs with less-than-ambitious videos doesn't do the album justice. Bring on East Jesus Nowhere!Of course, we should all still get voting. You never know This. It's so sad to think that 4 years ago, they fucking dominated the VMAs, and now they only get one nomination. They put so much time and effort into the album, it's sad to see two half-assed music videos for two of the weakest songs on the album. I seriously hope they do a 10x better job on the East Jesus Nowhere video. (if it is the next single.)But then again, the music scene isn't what it was when AI came out. Back then, there wasn't really any sort of theme going on with music, and I think people were just looking for the next big thing to make copycats out of. Nowadays, everyone's taking samples of everyone else's songs and making hits out of them. :/
Mar
MTV is just so bad these days, so frankly I'm not surprised by the lack of nominations.I'm not normally an optimistic person, but I think they may take this award home. MTV likes to give awards to those who perform on the show, and it would be silly to have GD there to only perform, and not win anything. Of course, there's a little flaw in my thinking: Paramore is in the same situation (only nominated in this category), and they will have a brand new CD coming out in September, and have the damn Twilight hype surrounding them. If they're announced as performers, then I'll be nervous, but I think they'd like to give an award to someone who can perform on the show, propagating the myth that MTV is a music network! Also, I'd like to think that winning SEVEN Moonmen 4 years ago, and then going down to nothing would just be too weird. However, if they don't win, they don't win. I'll just scream at the TV loudly, curse the days when I listening to Paramore a lot, since I helped to make them big (and now I'm kind of sick of them), and hope that the Grammys, while they've gone down the tubes in recent years, will still recognize 21CB...Grammys > Moonmen! In the meantime, everyone make sure to VOTE for 21 Guns! (Maybe the OP of this thread can update their post with this link?)

Katarina.
^ Agreed.I'll still vote for Green Day, they just have to win this award. I wonder if they'll get nominated for any award show next year. Maybe even a grammy nomination? You never know.

Angie-Marie
Since when do people vote for the VMAs anyway? I know it's been a while since I had any interest in the VMAs so maybe I'm out of the loop, but I thought they had a Viewers Choice category that you could vote on and that was it. HoneyDo666
Wait, what happened at the Kerrang awards? Did they already happen? I'm voting 3 times a day minimum. Green Day deserve this, they work hard and give their all for their fans, it's time to repay the favor! And they're so much better than their fellow nominees!Let's go Green Day!Edit: I can't believe Slipknot beat Green Day at the Kerrang Awards! VMAs are ours! Hopefully the Grammys too! And don't forget about the Teen Choice Awards! On the plus side, GD is in Kerrang in the 50 Best Albums of the 21st Century issue w/ American Idiot! IscoredWaddlesgoals
It's not really a suprise that they've only got three nominations. Lets face it, the single choices haven't exactly been overwhelming and the videos haven't blown me away. If the record company have chosen them, surely we're only rewarding that (and encouraging them to do it even more) if people vote ? Also, rock and political music isn't really 'in' at the moment. Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Britney are the artists MTV play the most these days and the nominations reflect that. It isn't the end of the world if Green Day don't win an award given by an increasingly irrelevant company for a single they probably didn't even pick. The bigger acts on the night will get more coverage so I doubt many people outside here would even notice.
HoneyDo666
Green Day are one of the big acts of the night! I think they'll probably have the opening performance because they'll draw people in and they rock! Since their performance will rock, I think they could steal the show! People remember great performances. Also Lady Gaga and Beyonce aren't slated to perform despite leading the nominations. Green Day are excited about their nominations and I'm excited for them! They're on MTV's homepage under choice videos...they're the only rock group on that list.Let's go vote!Hugs and puppies! VanessaAyukawa
I actually took the time to vote. I went and signed up and voted. I wonder does the voting help. I am 26 year's old and feel I will be unable to match the rabid teeenage-twilight fans that will vote for Paramore. but GD does have the edge, they will be there and MTV usually gives the award to those who show up. I know it's been a while since I had any interest in the VMAs so maybe I'm out of the loop, but I thought they had a Viewers Choice category that you could vote on and that was it.It hasn't been too long actually. Last year may have actually been the first year, don't quote me on that though! I try to pay very little attention to them. Green Day are one of the big acts of the night! I think they'll probably have the opening performance because they'll draw people in and they rock! Since their performance will rock, I think they could steal the show! I just saw an MTV News bit that emphasized that GD will "rock" the house (or something like that); this is giving me a little bit of hope that they may give them the award. Of course, there's always Paramore (I'm love/hate with them, but if they beat Green Day, it will be hate!). The fact that I'm this optimistic about something is disturbing me; to quote arguably their biggest rivals in this category, for a pessimist, I'm pretty optimistic! watsername182
"Any one of those bands — besides us — could definitely take that award. I really like the Paramore video ["Decode"], because I usually think that movie tie-in videos are hard to do, there's not many that work, but that one did," he said. "Green Day is an unstoppable force, and I think this might be Kings of Leon's year. They're everywhere this year, so I wouldn't go against them in any award."Looks like Pete Wentz knows that Fall Out Boy are gonna lose.

HoneyDo666
I want them to perform East Jesus Nowhere! Everyone in the audience will be rocking out and then the message will hit them and they'll be like "WHOA! That's awesome! Green Day's hardcore!"--hopefully!A wide audience needs to hear that song.
