21st Century Breakdown Collaboration

Peel Slowly And See

Recommended Posts

Influence is in absolutely every song on this album. That's the central theme. I know it'd never happen, but I had an idea about how cool it would be if different artists performed each song.

1. Song Of The Century -

2. 21st Century Breakdown - The Who

3. Know Your Enemy - Carbon/Silicon

4. ¡Viva La Gloria! -

5. Before The Lobotomy -

6. Christian's Inferno - Beck

7. Last Night On Earth - Elton John

8. East Jesus Nowhere - Rancid

9. Peacemaker - Gogol Bordello

10. Last Of The American Girls - Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers

11. Murder City - PJ Harvey

12. ¿Viva La Gloria? (Little Girl) - Mekons

13. Restless Heart Syndrome - Arcade Fire

14. Horseshoes And Hand Grenades - The Hives

15. The Static Age - Bruce Springsteen

16. 21 Guns -

17. American Eulogy - The Hold Steady

18. See The Light - AC/DC

So you can say where you think I'm wrong, what you would put in, and stuff like that. Help me fill in those four I have blank, too.

Also, here's a rule: The artist has to be musically active. They cannot be dead and the band cannot be defunct.

4. ¡Viva La Gloria! - Avril Lavigne.

I know, I know, most people on here want her to spontaneously combust, etcetera etcetera, but I personally like a lot of her music.

And think about it --- A studio version of her singing Viva La Gloria! would sound pretty goddamn awesome, especially since the midway point of 'She smashed her knuckles into winter' has a very similar guitar riff to Avril's song Girlfriend. :D

She'd nail the highest notes, too.

At first it just seemed like American Girls was just a phrase and it had no relevance to the song American Girl. Then you realize that the choruses sound similar.

I want this....

21st Century Breakdown--Bruce Springsteen

Know Your Enemy--Rancid

Viva La Gloria!--Paramore

Before the Lobotomy--Queen (after they get Adam Lambert to sing for them)

Christian's Inferno--(Let those God Awful "Girls With Guns" take them. They suck)

Last Night On Earth--Paul McCartney

East Jesus Nowhere--The Offspring

Peacemaker--NOFX

Last of the American Girls--Weezer

Murder City--Weezer

Little Girl--My Chemical Romance

Restless Heart Syndrome--All American Rejects

Horseshoes and Handgrenades--Metallica

The Static Age--David Cook

21 Guns--Andres Martinez (LOL)

American Eulogy--Avenged Sevenfold

See The Light--Foo Fighters

A lot of those are bad choices IN MY OPINION, but I considered Springsteen for the titular track (The Who just works better), McCartney for Last Night On Earth, and The Offspring for East Jesus Nowhere. Rancid taking on Enemy and Weezer taking on Last Of The American Girls are good ideas.

Beck is perfect for Christian's Inferno, by the way.

There's a song thats meant to sound like EJN by Marilyn Manson but I forgot the name of it.

And the chorus from 21 Guns sounds like the Full House theme apparently.

if the Who should do a song here, it should be Before The Lobotomy, good call with Gogol Bordello

American Girl happens to be my favourite Petty song :D

Weezer covering Static Age would be pretty awesome.

14. Horseshoes And Hand Grenades - The Hives
well they made main offender, which sounds pretty similar to H&H, but i don't think Pelle has the voice to scream around like Billie did. he's more the high/shrill screaming type.

I say Paul McCartney could do Last Night On Earth... I mean Billie stole the lyric from him. :P

but I could also see Paul doing Before The Lobotomy!

this. I don't agree on some but the idea of Paramore playing Viva la Gloria! makes me smile.
