Dookie Song relations

People need to stop looking for rock operas. Rock operas are often bloated and pretentious. Just look at The Black Parade, The Wall, and even Tommy. I love Tommy and I have respect for The Wall, but they're so hugely flawed and bloated it's unbelievable.

I don't remember where it was but somewhere on here called American Idiot the only "real" Green Day album because the others are just randomly arranged songs. If you ask me, I really, really, really want Green Day to stop doing rock operas (given that 21cb isn't a rock opera, but they need to stop even flirting with that idea).

They said themselves that 21st CB is an rock opera.

They said themselves that 21st CB is an rock opera.

But the story line (In my opinion) is a bit less subtle than American Idiot.

They said themselves that 21st CB is an rock opera.

They said the songs spoke to each other like Springsteen's Born To Run. It's a collection of songs interspersed with some story here and there. The characters are used more as symbols than actual devices for a storyline.

I don't think we were necessarily looking for a rock opera, I think the original poster was just kind of noticing the common themes between songs on the different albums kind of like a story and wondering if anyone else noticed it too.... I will agree with you though that the person who said AI was Green Day's first real album was on something. :)

Well, in that case, yes they are related, but that's how it goes with nearly every album ever made.
