I would love Last Night On Earth to be a single.

If I could have a video for it I would make it something like this.

The beginning we see maybe Billie or just some random actor send his heart to his lover and as the video progress's we see the letter make it to his lover. He walks around with little raining drops of fire slowly making him disappear. We can see the band playing in the middle on this raining fire slowly disappearing with a nice bright moon in the background. As the guy walks he just notices all the small things that the make love so wonderful. The lover is second guessing wondering where her lover is. As the song/video ends he finally disappears from all the fire so it his "Last Day On Earth" and the band now have disappeared which ended the song. The postcard gets to the lover and she smiles and starts walking into the street and thats where the video ends.

Simple video for a nice love song.

Am I the only who who really hates East Jesus nowhere? I've listened to it loads and stilll don't like it.

I think 21 guns would be amazing as a single. So powerful and moving.

Considering we now have proof that someone in the Green Day team reads GDA (and even possibly GDC), I figure it would be in everyone's best interest to find out which song the fans would want to be made into the next video

In addition, what would you want each video to have? What would you want to see portrayed in new videos?

If anyone should be giving green day advice on what we want to see in their videos, it should be from the people that respect them the most.

Because we know their music nearly as well as they do, I figure that many of you would have ideas for what you think would work for the music, and for the band.

I'll start.

I think for a potential "East Jesus Nowhere" video, it should have a parade sort of deal (yes, like Minority) at some point.

I think the boys should don their priest outfits for the video that we have all so sorely missed. But they should be bad-assed, wearing sunglasses and such. Grey filtering for the camera, so things appear edgier and grittier.

I think it would be fantastic to have the "Pope" going around with ear-muffs, an eye-shade on, and duct-tape over his mouth as he walks by victims of tragedies that the Catholic church has either caused or remained silent in. In this instance, I figure people dressed up as Holocaust prisoners, standing beside African aborigines that have red AIDS ribbons painted on them.

I think a great scene would be a priest going up to a happy gay couple with two kids, punching out both parents, and then looking down at the kids with a seedy grin, later referenced in the video by a brief shot of the kids being chased around by the priest.

Also, I imagine a scene with Mike taking a hose hooked up to a tank labeled "holy water" and spraying a bunch of hot girls (wearing crosses) in a very sexy way, to reinforce the hypocrisy of the church. And some girls dancing with Crucifixes.

Speaking as a Christian I love East Jesus Nowhere. The Pope, Bush and others don't represent what I believe! You just have these bastards abusing religion in order to achieve their own goals. (Mainly power). Bush saying he's going on a crusade against terror is bullshit. The bible clearly says murder is WRONG! People say the bible is anti gay. Yes in Leviticus it says its an abomination. It also says we should kill people who work on the sabbath and chop off the hands of thieves etc. You have to adapt the christian message to modern society. Also the bible does not condomn contraception.

Now that rant is over, I also think East Jesus Nowhere should be a single, but only after 21 Guns which should be immense, maybe a bit like a mixture of the KYE and wake me up when september ends videos.

I'm technically a Catholic, in that I'm still made to go to church, but I'm at an age where I'm questioning a lot of the point of it, and whether I'll continue going. There's a lot of argument and I don't want to go over the pros and cons of religion but as I read in the inlay booklet in the Strokes "First Impressions Of Earth"

"Religion is never the problem, it's people who use it to try to gain power."

Remember the city I live in, where it's one of the biggest problems, and that's between different factions of the SAME RELIGION. Seen and heard it all.

I'd be really unhappy with Green Day if they released a video that's so obviously provocative. There's a lot to be said about the hypocrisy of religion and I do agree with a lot of it, but the band would go way down in my estimation if they released a video in the style suggested.

21 Guns would also make an excellent video. HOWEVER, I think the best video for 21 Guns has already been made - the video for WMUWSE. Put 21 Guns over that video and it's perfect. The vid doesn't really suit WMUWSE...way to screw up Sam Bayer.

I got so engrossed in imagining that video that I swear to God I could actually watch it in my head. In fact, I sort of remember it as though it were something I watched on tv.

I imagined every detail of that video. Too bad it probably would have likely been an expensive video to make.

At least the first time you got to hear Before the Lobotomy you got to hear it all the way through. Green Day played it half way and then just stopped for no apparent reason.

That was like a "blue-balls" situation for me. Half the song! Half the fucking song! Its so cruel!

I hope that there is a 21 guns video, but that its not a war video. Rather, I hope its a video of the political/entertainment pundits in the media and everyone who is just genuinely mean stopping what they are doing, shutting off the cameras and/or their mouths, and just taking a moment to consider the world and themselves. Maybe it could involve Christian (or a character similar to how he is described), in a desperate state of mind, depressed and angry, at one point going outside to find beauty in something unexpected, simple, and humbling that he is overcome, not with tears, but solemnity.

No! I don't like WMUWSE for the video either, but I would hate to see it with 21 Guns. I hate when videos are really obvious about what the lyrics are about. The best videos aren't so literal.

I was thinking 21 Guns would be more like Boulevard of Broken Dreams (not only in terms of the video, but the single itself, leading them to a Grammy nomination and possible win), whereas Last Night On Earth would have a video similar to Wake Me Up When September Ends.

I'm extremely looking forward 2 C a rebellious and romantic video for Viva La Gloria at the same time. something shot in the streets with grafities on the walls and love making 2 look quiet punky.

Then another great vid for East Jesus Nowhere in front of a church 2 see those lovly movements of billie joe and tre and mike while complaining about he religious hypocrisy and kicking the ass of those bastards. showing them in hell and crashing their guitars at the end.

A great vid for 21 Guns while whatching the band in different clothes in different scenes performing or walking in streets while singing. sth like BOBD but more impressive. I love 2 C billie joe while playing the shit out of guitar.
