Rebellious_Marionette
That's kinda offtopic but my dad just came in while LNOE was playing and he siad it sounded like Pink Floyd... Toughts?
IzButt
they're getting into more of what the beatles did, but not their sound.it's hard to explain...in other words, they don't sound like the beatles, but they're exploring like the beatles did?ugh. i hate words. lol.EDIT: You guys are wrong. While it might sound similar to John's voice, I think Paul would write a song like LNOE, not John.this.Except that last part. I still think it'd be a Lennon influenced song I don't know why. Just kinda sounds like one.
Miqui_Dee
I guess so if you really are listening to it to see if it sounds like the Beatles. Other than that it sounds like GREEN DAY.
Bryn
lyric wise? johnny boy doesn't like the sappy crap, but pauly does.John wrote a lot of love songs. When he did it, they were great ones too. Julia, Grow Old with Me, Woman, Love....there are a lot more. I think though that they are not sappy really, they have a different vibe than Paul's. eighteen
My parents both commented on a Beatles influence on Last Night On Earth, and they listened to it separately. I wouldn't say he sounds like John Lennon, but I do hear a Beatles influence.. personally.
punkrockerlori
I can hear where there is Lennon/Beatles influence maybe...but as far as Billie's voice sounding like Lennon's? I don't really think so.Ya I have to agree with you. I think the guys from Green Day might've been listening to a lot of the Beatles or John Lennon while making 21st Centery Breakdown. I can really see it in they're lyrics the most.
Hermione
I don't know, I think Billie's singing voice is a one-off, I've certainly never heard anyone else sing like him. Over the years he's developed his voice and he's exploring more and more different singing techniques, so I suppose there's naturally a wider range of singers to compare him to now.But it's funny I've always thought he has the perfect voice to cover any Beatles song, and I think it fits Working Class Hero beautifully. So maybe somewhere in that richness of his voice there's a bit of Lennon in there.

Superfizz
My dad has mentioned John Lennon a couple of times when listening to it, but I couldn't really say myself, as I'm not really a fan of The Beatles.Yeah, my dad was the same. He doesn't even like Green Day much, but when I played 'last night on earth' he said "Is this their new stuff? Because I like this one, sounds like the Beatles" lol, it gives me warm fuzzies when Dad says he likes something about Green Day

Last Night on Earth was definitely influenced by Lennon's solo stuff.Plus I can definitely imagine Green Day doing more Beatles covers...like Across the Universe and Here Comes the Sun.
