Nope.

Lennon would have. Definitely. McCartney had a completely different style.

I must be missing something. I don't hear the Beatles influence in this album.

I should be really mad and raving my cane at you kids for comparing such things.

But I won't, cause I happen to like Green Day

I think Billie has is own sweet sound. His voice doesn't sound like anyone i've ever heard.

Billie's voice is so beautiful...

have you ever noticed his 'trills" or "ornaments" on the words, Night, earth, and rest...its beautiful..sounds like something out of Celtic or early music...its stunning......

You're right, Pauly was always the sappier one, but Johnny boy was into some sappiness too every once in a while.

But I actually meant melody-wise. LNOE is Lennonstyle, no doubt about it.

yes, because it sounds "out there"

ya know what i'm saying?

like Strawberry Fields Forever

NOT saying the songs sound the same, I'm saying the atmosphere and tone of the songs are the same.

When I read the lyrics of Last Night On Earth, I thought that the line "Sending all my love to you" is some kind of reference to Beatles' All My Loving  There's nothing wrong with BJ sounding like Lennon, or Green Day with little Beatles touch in it.

Not really.

Tbh honest when I listened to 21 Guns for a very first time it kinda remind me of Working class hero but no longer.

they're getting into more of what the beatles did, but not their sound.

it's hard to explain...

in other words, they don't sound like the beatles, but they're exploring like the beatles did?

ugh. i hate words. lol.

EDIT: You guys are wrong. While it might sound similar to John's voice, I think Paul would write a song like LNOE, not John.

I actually kind of agree. They are exploring thier sound with this album and with that song.

But I don't see really any big link or correlation between the two.

And Billie's voice is unlike any I have ever heard before. It is completely unique.

the new album definately has a beatles edge to it. but i don't think billie sounds a whole lot like lennon. john's voice was higher pitched and a bit more nasaly whereas billie's is deeper and sounds more slurred like he's drunk. but in some songs he does sound a little bit like john.

haha yea. I think it's great that Billie copied that line, it's quite powerful in a lovesong

I wouldn't be bothered if we saw little more Beatles-influenced Green Day.

I see a bit of a similarity now that you mention it, but had I not been given the notion I never would have made that connection by myself, haha.

When I first heard LNOE I thought of John Lennon. Now after many listenings I am inclined to think that the song is done in the style of John Lennon. I do not think Billie sounds like John.

Yup.

The Beatles may have had an album every year, but they stopped touring to work on them.

Green Day still tours, but they DID take a big break for this album, so I say it's about equal.

and about Billie's voice - you're right. it's unique. it's not like some modern "indie" music... they sound the same to me. they sing with the same "accent" (it's not really an accent, just the same type of voice that makes them sound the same... hard to put it into words)

When I first heard LNOE I thought of John Lennon. Now after many listenings I am inclined to think that the song is done in the style of John Lennon. I do not think Billie sounds like John.

it's the "atmosphere" of the song that gives people this feeling.

It's not like this is the first time they're doing this though. You can go back as far as "Welcome to Paradise" to hear a slight Beatles influence.

I agree 100% with "Last Night on Earth" reminding me of John Lennon.

When I heard it I sent it to my Beatles loving friends who are not even into Green Day to see what they thought and they completely agreed.

I like that The Beatles influence they have always had shows really strong in some of the songs on this album.

I really think John would like 21st Century Breakdown. I mean I don't KNOW that for sure, but I think so.

hmm.. interesting.. I haven't noticed in 21st CBD, BUT.. I can hear something in Working Class Hero, that I connect to the "original voice", and at the end, when John sings "If you want to be a hero, well just follow me.. " it's actually him singing not Billie, and that's something I didn't notice at first (actually till I saw somewhere written that it was John singing that part).. xD

That makes me think that the voices are a bit similar (in that part).. But, for the other Green Day songs, I don't connect the voice to anyone else but my Billie.. I love his unique and amazing voice! as some of you have referred..
