East Jesus Nowhere

I used to not like this song, but I've listened to it more lately, and it's been growing on me. It still a good song, but the one part that I really don't like is the "Oh bless me lord I have sinned" part.

i don't know if this has been mentioned before but , you know how at the beggining of the song there are voices that say "dont test me" when played backwards?

well, according to the closed captioning on my tv, the lyric played normally is "beside the water."

it's not really a big deal, but i never actually understood the lyric until i watched the video with closed captioning.

I love this song, especially the middle section. That gets me every time with the "Oh bless me lord for I have sinned." Holy crap, Billie.

After seeing the 21st century breakdown vid...I'm gonna go crazy if they leave that live performance video as the official video. I want this song to do well and it needs air time and a great vid to do that.

I second that.

I mean, i love EJN and i almost drop dead when i saw the "official video" of it, they can do it so much better, i mean it's really a kick ass performance and everything and i really like it too, but i expected so much more of that video and that made me not get to love it, tho. So if they make another video, i wouldn't grumble about it.

And we need time to watch it repeatedly on screen TV! :P

Can anyone explain what the "saving" the child thing he does during this is ? Had a look but couldn't find anything on it.

It's my favorite song from 21st Century Breakdown 'cause it rocks and I hate faith fanatics.

This is definitely a floor-shaker when performed live.

What are your thoughts about EJN?

Agreed. The highlight of the current tour for me (if I had to pick one!) Destined to become a live classic forever.

My friend said this song was s**t today

I opened my mouth to argue and thought, "you know what, why bother?"

I love the song, and he has a tendancy to be ignorant at times, so I figure it's his loss  lol

I really have no idea why I didn't like this song when I first heard it. Now I think its the second best on the album, behind Peacemaker.

I absolutely love this song.

This, and before the lobotomy were my 2 favourtes before I bought the actual album..

They aren't my favourites anymore, but i still love them

Is the bit at the beginning a quote from something ? Or just a random wee bit.

This song is amazing live

I wish I could find a studio version of the song that has the elongated bit of Jason before Billie sings the last chorus and before the person is 'saved'.

It's the music for an advert on tv here in the UK.

Every time I hear it I look up, and freak out, lmao xD

I love this song though. So amazing live.

This is one of my favourites on the album - along with Peacemaker and Last Night on Earth.

It's one of those songs which are so amazing live that it's hard to describe it. The bass was so murderous it felt like my ribcage was going to shatter.

It's an amazing song.

The "saving" thing Billie Joe does is something to symbolise being saved from the hypocrisy of religion in our mordern world and it's also a parody of someone who is exorcised of their inner demons.
