East Jesus Nowhere

Great song. Great energy and intensity. The music and the lyrics go together with rage and anger that perfectly express what's trying to be said.

I thought March of the Dogs might have been a better title, since there are dog lyrics and it's more poetic (it gives the image of an army of marching religious hypocrites).

that was probably why it was originally called march of the dogs.

i do love this song to much sometimes, for some bizarre reason i find it relaxing when i'm stressed, same happened with st jimmy!

I know what you mean. Sometimes when it's stressful, it's good to just let the energy of a song overtake you. It kinda takes your mind off everything else.

I remember reading at one point why the song's name was changed, but the details elude me at the moment.

I know I should not be laughing, but I did.

Sorry, but it was so funny how you said, the B.) part. :)

And yeah, this is one of my favorite songs on the album.

somehow makes me all wired up.

 it's okay

I'd been looking forward to this song ever since it was first mentioned in an article last year because of the subject matter. But when I actually heard it I was totally blown away not just be the lyrics but by everything about it! It's my favourite song in the world. The power of the music and the lyrics is just amazing, I love it to death.

I can't get enough of it live either. I especially like the way he whispers the "don't test me..." part SO quietly :D

the second verse+bridge is my favorite (oh bless me lord...)

the way he sings it

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Oh yes :eyebrows:. It is raunchy. Sounds like the Rev himself is singing it.

He got the name from a line in Juno

The only way I could possibly love this song more is if it had the far superior name, March Of The Dogs.

Yeah, I was hopeful because it sounded like it was going to be a cool political song. The only hint they gave was a Zach de la Roca style whispering at one point. I ended up hyping the song up a lot in my mind, but the final result didn't disappoint.

Ah that's right, thanks

It is gross and sad, but that's the point. It's like saying that confession and religion doesn't mean anything, you just become a "sacrificial suicide" that's lost all power and dignity (sodomizing is the ultimate act of rape and control and it strips the victim of everything). And dogs are blindly loyal to humans, man's best friends, so they used dogs to compare it to people who blindly follow religion and put their faith in it, like dogs put their faith in us to care for them.

I would say this is true. Plus pure shock value as well.

^Yeah it reminded me of something FHT would do.

I could totally see Reverend Strychnine Twitch singing this song

I like this song a lot. Has a nice beat and I agree with the message of the lyrics.

In my top 3 without a doubt.

I love everything about this song. I have the line "put your faith in a miracle; and it's non-denominational" stuck in my head permanently.

I like this song a lot, and for some reason, it puts me on ''Bitch Mode"

God, me too.

This song and Horseshoes and Handgrenades does that to me.

Its a good uplifting hate song for me to want to stand up for what I believe and speak out.

I like songs that speak out for what they believe even if it may be the minority. Or just put out thier views on a sticky issue.

This song is easily the best song of the album for me, I love the song, the message everything about it.

And the part where he goes "forgive me lord for I have sinned" and on just gets me. Its my favorite part.

And I do like more secular songs with a strong message for some reason even though I am partially religious.

And there is not one part in the song that I hate. It is mostly the first one I listen to on the album.

And I fall in love when its played live, just supurb.

How does this sound like Hottubs?

Really, if you are going to say it, freaking back it up.

I don't think the whole song does, just the filthy sounding raunchy bit in the middle. Pure Rev :D

Plus all the religious imagery is quite reminiscent of the Tubs. Stop Drop And Roll is packed with religious imagery.

It's pretty cool when an anti-religious song infiltrates a Christian but it did to me and I love it. I have always found a hypocrisy with religion. It doesn't make me an atheist but that's not what it's trying to do.
