Green Day's on Rock Band!

This shit pisses me off. It's ridiculous. I don't think many people out there consider the Guitar Hero and Rock Band games to be of equal value to a real instrument.

It's like saying playing Call of Duty is stopping people from joining the army. It's a game, and people know it. People are just bitching about video games distracting from "more worthwhile" pursuits like they always have. It's just easier to blame these games, because of the peripherals. If you played 'em with a regular controller, no one would say a word.

Completely agree...it's a game and that's all it's meant to be. It wasn't put out to be a substitute for playing any real instruments, it's just for fun, that three or four people can get together and play.

But I'm more than excited for the Green Day Track Pack/Standalone, whatever it turns out to be.....

I know people who were inspired to learn to play real instruments after playing Rock Band/Guitar Hero, so I don't think it's valid to claim that they're stopping people from learning real instruments...there are always distractions from real life, your job is to make sure that they *stay* just a distraction and don't take over.

Cool. And when will people realize that Billie's name is not Billy?

Never, unfortunately. That's like asking when people will stop being fuckwads. Sadly, it will never stop.

personally, i hate all video games (but will admit to having a guilty pleasure/addiction to the 1st 3 tony hawk games on PS1) and what i really hate about these "rock n roll superstar" games is they do keep people from actually picking up a real guitar or getting behind a real drum kit and going for it. HOWEVER, the things i feel are very cool about the games, some of the younger kids are starting with these games, and actually DO progress on to the real instruments and thats awesome...but whatsmore than that, is its introducing new generations to some REALLY gnarly music they may otherwise never hear, or trash it without hearing it because "its something their parents would listen to" and if it takes a video game to introduce "Jr." to motorhead, ramones, ozzy, etc....then so be it. i mean, how many of us on this forum were introduced to punk rock via dookie? or for the youngsters, via american idiot? so what if _____ has something to say about how ______ got into liking ______???? i see both sides of the argument of the games...all i know, is my friend's 3 year old daughter LOVES heavy metal because of these games...that cant be a bad thing. you ever see a 3 year old make a fuckin' metal face? priceless. and adoreable to boot.

THANK GOD FOR YOU. AGREED 100%!!!!

Fuck I'm so sick of people saying " PEOPLE SHOULD LEARN REAL INSTRUMENTS!!!!". I play drums bass and guitar but I love GH and Rockband. They are just meant to have fun. It's not like the fucking creators had a master plan to get people to stop playing real instruments nor is the game actually causing people to not play real instruments. If you really want to play a real instrument you will, this game is doing nothing. Like said before if this game was played on a regular controller no one would fucking say ANYTHING.

Really most people that complain about this shit are people who play real instruments that fucking suck ass at the game. It's just their way to bitch and feel special.

This stuff makes me feel old, I haven't got a clue about any of it. I only vaguely know what Rock Band is. I kind of gave up playing video games years ago.

From what i've heard though this sounds pretty cool.

I just read it and I cant wait. I really hope it isn't for the psp version of rock band. I want to play the song on my rock band drums and guitar, I also want to sing. I want waiting.

They are probably going to use the new album. I still want some of the older songs.

What if they have like a "Rock Band: Green Day" like the did with "Rock Band: The Beatles"? and what if it comes with a rock band controller version of "blue" or "floyd". I would be in heaven.

A "blue" rock band controller would be amazing! It could come with a sticker sheet too!

I've been hanging out for Green Day on Rock Band ever since I started using the stuff on there as real backing tracks. You record the songs (using line out to your computer) on guitar practice mode without hitting a note, then you're basically left with a backing track with original drums, bass & vocals, and get to play along on real guitar!

oh well, might be fun to sing along and play bass and drums.

I wonder if I can add the songspack to my future beatles rockband

ultimate game right there,

I have Guitar Hero and not Rock Band. Maybe I will have to invest in Rock Band after all...

I'm sure it will be worth it.

Oh and I can't believe some people are against these video games because they somehow distract people from picking up a real instrument. It's a video game FFS. Not everyone wants to learn an instrument, sometimes video games are just more enjoyable and less serious. I have other things I want to seriously concentrate on in my life and learning to play an instrument is not one of them. But a video game is something that I like playing once in a while.

Green Day will have something Rock Band-related out this year, according to statements made by lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong during a KROQ appearance. An audience member asked the band if they were planning on putting songs out for the game, and Armstrong revealed that something was in the works.

"Yeah, we're doing a whole Green Day Rock Band, uh ..." Armstrong responded, unable to finish his sentence due to a swell of applause. Green Day Rock Band what? Game? Downloadable track pack? Expansion disc? Guitar decal line? Instructional video? Whatever it is, we'll find out about it soon, because it's supposed to be out by the end of the year.

The band, having just previously made fun of social networking, went on to discuss how they were too old to play Rock Band well. That's how you connect with your young audience!

Oh bloody hell why not Guitar Hero?????????

But otherwise YAY! I hope my little brother decides to get this, I have a feeling he might. Given my current level of addiction to Guitar Hero I can't even imagine how I would be with this

That would make me have to buy this. O_O I've never owned or cared to own Rock Band or any video game system at all, but a Blue controller? Wow. That'd be sick!
