I do give him credit.... I sound like a dying elephant. I taped the majority of the show. The Jeopardy skit had me laughing so hard I was crying. The song at the end was another gut buster. Man, I sure miss the days when SNL was good (the mid to late 90's with Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell, at al). Tonight's was pretty good though.

can u post it on the internet?

anywhere?

i really wanted to see the skit... well, actually, everything u taped!

=p

please!

Green Day seemed really good at SNL. They still have it. I don't really agree on the choices they made with the songs, but still good.

He's the new guy. He performed with them at all of the secret shows.

As a singer myself, I know how frustrating falsetto can be. Particularly with such loud guitars in the chorus. A singer wants to ensure they're heard, and if they're not comfortable with the way falsetto sounds, they skip it. I know, I've done it myself. Granted, if a singer leans close into the microphone, the mic picks up a lot more sound, and with practice a singer can use that to their advantage. Off the top of my head, Chris Martin and Prince are two singers who have used this technique enough to have it down moot, but Billie's new to this. Plus, he's up there in New York City on THE most popular variety/comedy show for the last 20 years, being seen by millions of viewers and performing a song from an album that, from what we've heard, damn near pulled a Heath Ledger on him.

My point is, give him a break. Nothing performed live - and I mean NOTHING - sounds exactly like the studio version, but particularly when you've produced the shit out of it. Be grateful that they rocked it as well as they did and that he felt comfortable enough to give a little bit of it at the end.

- Jacie the Cat

I can give him a break - I just said it was let down by the new version. And I'm hoping they don't stick to that version for the rest of the tour. If they do, so be it. Not that big of a deal. The falsetto is just what made the song special for me - as silly as that sounds.

Well you figured they were going to do Know Your Enemy it was just up in the air what the second song would be and it turned out to be 21 guns which I thought was performed brilliantly

The first time I heard "21 Guns" and Billie's falsetto, I thought to myself, how is he going to be able to do that in concert when his voice is worn-out and over-abused?? This album is so much more vocally challenging than all their previous ones, even AI. I think Billie's in for a long, tough tour, voice-wise.

I hope he's taking care of those vocal chords...maybe even giving up smoking!

Jeff Matika, it was announced sometime this winter/spring that he would be a third guitarist and backup singer. :)

He's there because of the overlays and background vocals on the new songs, I guess. :)

I watched the whole episode last night, it was great :). They seemed like they were having so much fun and the performances were beautiful.

I thought they performed both songs really well. For some reason I enjoy watching Green Day perform KYE live despite not liking the song all that much. The performance of 21 Guns was amazing, I have a feeling that song is going to become really popular.

I wish they had played something other than 21 Guns; it's obviously being groomed as their next BoBD or Good Riddance. Great song; I just would have preferred something else like Peacemaker, or Lobotomy, or RHS... anything that demonstrated their growth a little better. Oh well. Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance (as did I).

since they are doing those shows for marketing purposes, of course they are gonna play their singles. :)

I would have loved to have heard east jesus nowhere and she that they played afterwards. :)

I loved their Know Your Enemy performance. My brother wouldn't shut up with saying "they sound just like the song!" But during 21 Guns he wouldn't shut up with saying "they don't sound as good this time... Mike looks so weird... Billie Joe... eh."

I loved the whole show (I'm a huge fan of SNL), but the KYE performance was probably the best part. I was happy that Billie played part of the guitar solo. 21 Guns was good too but I wish Billie would have made his voice go high on "guns" like in the album instead of just yelling it pretty much, because he sounded so good when he let his voice go high.

*sigh* I was just all round good seeing them performing on TV again.

I really want to see the final sketch again--I think I missed a lot of what was going on in it. I looked on youtube and it's already been taken down. Everything else from the show is still up except for that one bit. grrrrrrrrrrr
