Nimrod99
SNL is on right now. The channels like FOX, NBC, ABC, CBS don't run things 3 hours earlier.
BlueDays
Does anyone know of a website that plays the full episode? I wanted to see this episode because of them but I was gone and then people said it was hilarious all together, so...yeah. =[=[Try to find re-runs? Kate Austen
I was a bit let down with the live rendition of 21 Guns. Billie didn't even attempt to hit the falsetto on "Guns" - except at the very end. Don't get me wrong, the version they played tonight was rockin (especially the chorus) - but the highlight of the song originally, was how he sang "guns".Bah

Kate Austen
the "guns" part IS part of the chorusI know that...never said it wasn't.My point was, I was let down he didn't attempt the falsetto on that word. At the same time, I also thought it was rockin how the chorus was more so yelled. BUT..the original for me, was so great because of said falsetto. Therefore I was dissappointed. There you go - I have hard time making a full complaint against Green Day. Even when I see negatives, I try to throw up positives. So while this version IMO was worse then the original, I could see a silver lining in the new rendition.
British Idiot
I thought that when I saw the Live from Abbey Road thing. He sings the "guns" bit weirdly and I'm not sure if it works. He does the falsetto on the very lasy one which sounds great, and makes me wonder why he's not doing it all the way through...

I just went looking through videos, and seems like on some shows, he was doing the falsetto. But recently, all the new live renditions (SNL and Abbey Road) are him just yelling "guns" instead of the falsetto, and only attempting the falsetto at the end.He might of just decided to go with this new rendition. Of course, only time will tell (when the tour starts). But def leaves me a bit...disappointed.

I was going to crack an Ashley Simspon joke and say "Acid Reflux", but I decided against it. Sorry to say it, but he butchered the "guns" part (the ones that were supposed to be falsetto). It just didn't sound right

It just didn't sound rightAs a singer myself, I know how frustrating falsetto can be. Particularly with such loud guitars in the chorus. A singer wants to ensure they're heard, and if they're not comfortable with the way falsetto sounds, they skip it. I know, I've done it myself. Granted, if a singer leans close into the microphone, the mic picks up a lot more sound, and with practice a singer can use that to their advantage. Off the top of my head, Chris Martin and Prince are two singers who have used this technique enough to have it down moot, but Billie's new to this. Plus, he's up there in New York City on THE most popular variety/comedy show for the last 20 years, being seen by millions of viewers and performing a song from an album that, from what we've heard, damn near pulled a Heath Ledger on him.My point is, give him a break. Nothing performed live - and I mean NOTHING - sounds exactly like the studio version, but particularly when you've produced the shit out of it. Be grateful that they rocked it as well as they did and that he felt comfortable enough to give a little bit of it at the end. - Jacie the Cat
Miqui_Dee
Just watched the show and the skits were hilarious, plus Green Day gave amazing performances. The Jeopardy thing almost killed me. "What is the color of green?" And then the ensemble song where Green Day joined in and BJ attempted to play guitar over his head/behind his back... god, it was like the greatest episode of SNL ever. I taped the majority of the show. The Jeopardy skit had me laughing so hard I was crying. The song at the end was another gut buster. Man, I sure miss the days when SNL was good (the mid to late 90's with Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell, at al). Tonight's was pretty good though. Live this isn't really feasible (unless they pre-recorded, which would suck), and just one voice singing the falsetto would sound really weak compared to the rest of the line(s). So instead he sings it normally, as not to take away from the emphasis of it.
