Pork and Beans is an awesome music video. Matthew Cullen did a better job on that than on Know Your Enemy imo.

I would just like to say Red Album is a pretty nice album. There are some really awesome songs on there. We can all have favorites yes mine are Pinkerton and Blue Album but I grow with the band and find something I enjoy about the new albums.

Dreamin = Sick song one of my favorites from Weezer.

i concur

hey guys. i like weezer too but this is a thread for talking about 21CB and american idiot the songs why are these weezer things being posted here? anyways i love both songs, but in terms of pure catchyness i vote AI. only because it's kinda like KYE its short and to the point, but with that signature green day punch backing it up. 21st century breakdown is more concentrating on laying out the course of the entire album. Still a rockin' song tho :)

you know?

yes billie, we know.

i liked those singles, they weren't the greatest but they weren't horse shit either

You have to admit writing Pork and Beans in a week, then recording it last minute for a record, and it still being a hit is pretty exciting for weezer.

The production was handled much better on the red album.

You can hear dynamics very well. You can thank Patrick Wilson for that. He's watching over the production for the new album too.

they did a good job producing, I just meant that record companies' requests leave bands recording "radio-worthy" songs rather than breakthrough, new stuff or experiments, oh well, I guess that's what sidebands are for.

today's consideration of pop is the kind of music that fades away with time and sounds the same, give me an album that I can remember, like Pinkerton, an album that I'd say "hell, this shit is different and good"

[/random rant about today's pop scene]

I find your post rather shallow and pedantic :sherlock:

Know our enemy is some repetitive shit and I consider it one of the worst songs by Green Day ever, and definitely the worst one in the album

yeah it's a bit amazing. with such a big fan base+ the catchiness it was destined to be a hit

I'm starting to want to change my vote from 21CB to AI. There's just something missing from 21CB that AI has. Can't really put my finger on what it is.

I'm telling you, these kind of choices are the ones that differentiate a man from a boy

I know what you're saying. I think I can safely say I like 21CB more but there is something that seems to be missing. I think AI had more intensity, so I'm kinda missing that but after a while I think I'll definitely love 21CB a lot more.

AI had this togetherness feel I really liked, AI was a complete album, whereas 21CB has this individual song's awesomeness which I also loved, difficult choice :/

Yeah that too. It's different in the fact that it has a lot of different sounding songs but that's kinda cool in my opinion.

I think 21CB is better, there's more variety of songs on there.

Does anyone here like Weezer?

Pinkerton is one of my favorite albums of all time. Its a shame Rivers Cuomo lost his fucking mind and destroyed the band and their music.

21CB hasn't affected me like American Idiot has. As a literature fan, I enjoy American Idiot's more linear story which is why it is better than all their other albums IMO. Don't get me wrong, 21CB is probably my second favorite now, but unfortunately, AI just speaks to me more. Maybe that will change, but who knows?

I think 1 thing we can all agree though is that whether we like AI more than 21st CB or 21st CB more than AI is that at least they both are still good albums. Actually they are both amazing albums. At least they didn't feed us garbage like some bands do. Sometimes whether we like albums has nothing to do with the songs but sometimes memories and emotions we were feeling at the time. I think of them like this.

AI = Got me to listen to what's going on.

21st CB = Gets me to want to take action.

We all know the story of AI, but what about 21CB? I know it doesn't really have a linear story but still here it goes:

Act 1:

Billie Joe acts as a detached narrator singing about the state of the nation in 2009 and a call to arms. We are introduced to Gloria, political activist and idealist frustrated with Bush's re-election in 2004 and tries to keep her hope. We're then intorduced to Christian, just getting stoned, causing trouble and is on the fringe of society. We hear about his frustration and sheer anger. Gloria has a boyfriend who's in the army in Iraq or Afganistan (references to fire and so on in LNOE) who sends his love to her.

Act 2:

Christian tries looking for answers from his faith and only sees the hypocrisy and abuse of religion. Peacemaker comes on the scene, who's a crazy neocon, advocating war and destruction (I am a caesar! etc). In LOTAG Christian and Gloria meet and he's impressed by her dedication and her left wing strength, trying to make the world better. In Murder City/?Viva la Gloria? they become increasingly desperate, unemployed, homeless and no hope. They uses drugs to cope and to block out their depression and frustration and confusion.

Act 3:

Christian just loses it and goes on a nihilistic rampage in HAH. Gloria struggles with the information overload in the Static Age. Gloria then finds out about her boyfriend's death (21 guns, military funeral) and can't see what he died for, why America is fighting these two wars. Everything comes to a conclusion in American Eulogy where there's a crisis every week, financial crisis, 2008 elections, global warming and they declare that they don't want to live in the Modern World. After the 2008 election Christian and Gloria emerge from the wreckage of the Bush era and look forward with cautious optimism.

Then again I could just be reading too much into it. It's all up for interpretation, and that's my one.

I don't know. AI is like carrying a story for me, it has a sentimental value that makes it unique.

While 21CB had great songs but it's so far just an album.

Does one really have to be "better" than the other?
