I love The Static Age, a lot. I hope it's their next single... Whatever is though will be the second song they play at SNL (assuming they play KYE first).

Also, anyone else think KYE was just not right for this album? I would have far preferred either one of its B-sides to be on the album (especially Light's Out) over it. It just seems like the weakest song on there... Especially to try to promote the album with it. Oh well. I was worried when it was the first single and I knew of no other songs, but I am very happy now. Great album.

The more I listen to Last Night On Earth, the more it grows on me. If I ever get married, I want that to be my wedding song.

I think KYE was the obvious choice for the first single, and a good one. It's a great song with a strong chorus, and easily recognizable as Green Day. I'm glad it was first :)

I'm listening to Viva La Gloria? at the moment. Is it just me or does the guitar in the chorus sound a bit like Blood Sex and Booze?

I'm glad I didn't wait. I love all the songs. I'm listening to a lot of Peacemaker and Viva La Gloria! :D

Too bad I have to wait a while for the album about a week or so after release, thats why I'm glad I heard the album first or else I would have gone insane.

I thought the same, I never think of wedding songs ever. But I thought this would be a good choice if I ever get married.

Peacemaker owns my soul at the min XD

Me too, it's the only one i've allowed myself to download because i'd already listened to it in a live recording. I love how he rolls the 'r' in serenade at the end xD

Same for me, at first I nicked it as not one of my favorites. But now I just cannot get it out of my head. That and East Jesus Nowhere.

i'm starting to fall in love with this album. i'm so proud- at first i was discouraged and almost didn't want anything to do with it.

murder city- it's like just lie in bed and get swept up in this song.

it's basically the "Are we the waiting" of this album, (and for the record, that was my favorite from American Idiot) and there's so much emotion comming from it.

And then songs i never thought i'd like- both of the Viva La Glorias East Jesus Nowhere and American Eulogy.

dont even get me started on my undying love for Before the Lobotomy, Christian's Inferno and Last Night on Earth. (and Horseshoes & Hand Grenades!)

and even...21st Century Breakdown...the one song i hold in such disdain because it's not the demo...it's growing on me.

This whole album, words can't describe it. im feeling like im going through another change when listening to it, like i was 3 and a half years ago when i discovered the band.

Yea, the reverend saved my soul, but even he can't make my blood and emotions surge as they do when listening to this album in it's entirety.

*chills* yea, im over-emotional this weekend.

All of the prominently different songs like Last Night on Earth, Restless Heart Syndrome, and 21 Guns are on my mind constantly. To me, they are so different from American Idiot. So meaningful and beautiful.

Plus, I've been looking at the album as a story recently, trying to figure out how each song fits.

The chorus really reminds me of another song, I'm not sure which one but I do like that song too.

Sounds to me like you are in denial. There is nothing punk (musically) about "Last Night on Earth" or "21 Guns". Face it, the band tried tackling a new genre - which is "Classic Rock/Pop". Call it Power Pop, call it whatever.

I'm not saying the band is no longer Punk, but the last two albums (for the most part) - are completely different Genres then say Dookie or Insomniac.

I don't know what genre they fit in now, all I know is The Static Age is about the most bubblegum pop thing I've ever heard. I like it very much though, but it is unapologeticly the poppiest song they ever written. When I hear it I picture a trailer for some Jennifer Aniston feel-good movie.
