My favorite line of American Eulogy is when Mike sings "I don't give a shit about the modern age!"

American Eulogy sounds a lot like Deadbeat Holiday, not that I'm complaining.

I love this entire album, favorite songs being Murder City, American Eulogy, iViva La Gloria!, and 21 Guns.

Im really fucking impressed with the guitar work this time around. There are heaps of solos (not nesasarly that good) but opening riffs (like Lobotomy) are really good. I think Billie could have put a bit of fast playing in the solos, made them longer and a bit of shred, I can see some where it would be good to add fast bits, make them more complicated.

The album is growing on me quicker then AI did too! The soft intros kinda bug me though..

Is anyone having trouble listening to 21CB on Rhapsody?? The audio is really choppy for me and it has never done that before with Rhapsody...

I was pleasantly suprised after listening. Every track is great in my opinion. I particularly enjoyed Mike's parts in American Eulogy. Great lyrics and a catchy, simple melody is all it takes to hook me. haha.

The overall sound is incredible. Billie's guitar tone is as powerful as ever, vocals are smoothly mixed, and everything just works. It's too early to tell if I will enjoy this album more than American Idiot, but It will definitely come close. It beats it with the amount of tracks at least. :P

Kudos to Butch Vig and the guys. They should be proud. :D

I've been listening to the album while reading lyrics. I pretty much a general idea of what the plot is, but I'm getting tripped up on "Horseshoes and Handgernades". Especially these lines:

I'm not fucking around

I think I'm coming out

All the deceivers and cheaters

I've think we've got a bleeder right now

I'm not fucking around

G-L-O-R-I-A

So....is he singling Gloria out? Is he mad at her? Is this from the perspective of Christian? This really is the only song getting to me.

make sense what you are saying.

but he says all the deceivers and cheaters. so its not only for gloria.

also, we should keep on our heads that this song was written 5 years ago, or so said billie.

also, this song sounds a lot like pieces of truth from FHT.

I kind of wish they were more clear on what happened to the two lovers. It's not very clear. We get the revelation that Gloria is also addicted to drugs (or at least uses like Christian) on Viva La Gloria? - then III act opens with Horseshoes and Handgernades...and that is ambiguous. As said above, almost sounds like he might be singling her out. After that, they are never mentioned again until "American Eulogy" and it just says "Vigilantes warning you. Calling Christian and Gloria" - which doesn't say much.

You would think there would be a better wrap up to their plot, seeing as they are on the album art. I get the album is not just about them, and is more deeply about society all the problems we face in the 21st Century. But the love story def is laced throughout (and serves as the main plot that pushes the album along). I kind of feel they ended their section weak.

well, one of the songs says that Christian sang the eulogy, meaning that it could be a callback to the beginning of the album, making 21stCB a story that's backwards.

Yeah, I really like Static Age. The chorus is kinda cheesy, but who cares. Its a great song.

I don't know why, but I'm particularly liking the album's lyrics more than GD's other albums. They're just damn impressive. After hearing the music with the lyrics, they just all seem to be so clever and perfect. That is the way with a lot of other of their songs, but I wanted to definitely point that out.

Viva La Gloria and Last Night on Earth are definitely my two favorites from the album... not tremendously astounded by all the songs, but it's a new sound for a new age I suppose.
