It's called "Main Offender" and I honestly wouldn't be shocked if Green Day got sued over it. Especially since everyone seems to be lawsuit happy lately. This song sounds MUCH more like the Hives, then Coldplay sounded like Joe Satarini (and he sued).

I guess my main problem with this song, is it doesn't really sound like it belongs on here (at least to me). Usually, even the really heavy songs have a catchy chorus. This is, a rock opera afterall - supposed to be melodic. And for me, Horeshoes is just really loud and distorted devoid of any real melody or hook. I do agree it's a bad ass song tho.

you're so right, i just youtubed the hives song, the rifts are almost identical. Still like the Green Day one much better though :)

Anyone think know your enemy sounds pretty out of place on this album? the other songs just highlight how crap that song actually is. 21 guns or east jesus nowhere for next single please

I wouldn't say it's crap, but it's definately the weakest link there. Good job Know Your Enemy didn't set the bar for the rest of the album.

I dunno, I need to listen to this more. I haven't really listed to it all in one sitting...waiting for the cd to come out to do that...but I think I like AI more...I loved the epic rollercoaster songs of JOS and Homecoming...I'm just not getting that same feeling so far...

hmmm

I still say the best part of the album is "Last of the American Girls" to "Murder City". Shit knocks me on my ass every time! My biggest problem with this album, is still ACT III. I'm really not feeling it, besides 21 Guns and American Eulogy.

While I def like "See the Light" - it feels weak to me. Homecoming to Whatsername was a much better closer to an album IMO. But other then that, this album is superb. Gets better with every listen.

Honestly. The new album blew me away far past my wildest expectations. They have never been stronger in all aspects of their music like they are right now. This is by far better than American Idiot in every way. American Idiot was the middle school era of the band, and 21CB is the band growing pubic hair and shaving with a real razor blade. This is the band at it's best. I didn't think it could be done, but I think 21cb kicked Warning off the top of my favorite Green Day album list.

With that being said, I have a sick in the pit of my stomach that this album won't sell as well as AI. I think the band still has a very loyal fan base since their beginnings in the mainstream, but with AI 5 years ago, they gained a whole new fanbase of the "Myspace generation" which helped that album sky rocket in sales. However, that was 5 years ago, and I don't think those new fans were as patient as we all were. A lot of them have moved on, and Green Day seems to be like a distant memory to them. GOD I hope I'm wrong. I don't think this album should be an unappreciated antique that dusts away in your attic like Warning was. That album didn't deserve the lack of reconition, and neither does this album.

Please let me wrong Lord, Please!

It's very "melancholy" and "reflective". That is why it succeeds so much. It literally makes you go back, and think of all the songs on the album - makes you fee like you have been on this incredible journey, and it's coming to and end.

See the Light tried to be that (i think) - and did not succeed.

"Last Night on Earth" would have been the better ending for this album. But i am not nit picky, i love every song.. except "Know Your..".

see the light reminds me too much of a u2 song. not a bad song, but should not be the closer. but thats a tiny tiny annoyance that i'm sure i can live with.
