I can't agree with that. For me, the guitar riff really is a rip off of that Hives song (and since' ive heard that song so many times) - this sounds unoriginal. =/

to me it sounds a little like part of prosthetic head. yeah it may sound like the Hives.. except its a hell of a lot better. cant say i remember hearing the song in question anyway. did not strike me as a familiar riff

Considering it's following up to such a momentous release, it is damn good, perhaps even matching American Idiot. Hell, give me more time to listen and it might even exceed it!

It's called "Main Offender" and I honestly wouldn't be shocked if Green Day got sued over it. Especially since everyone seems to be lawsuit happy lately. This song sounds MUCH more like the Hives, then Coldplay sounded like Joe Satarini (and he sued).

I guess my main problem with this song, is it doesn't really sound like it belongs on here (at least to me). Usually, even the really heavy songs have a catchy chorus. This is, a rock opera afterall - supposed to be melodic. And for me, Horeshoes is just really loud and distorted devoid of any real melody or hook. I do agree it's a bad ass song tho.

I love Christian's Inferno and Horseshoes and Hand Grenades from the new track listings... by which I mean from the songs that I haven't heard yet.

Fuck me, seriously, somebody fuck me, this album is AMAZING! Fuck, it is so so good. I was skeptical about this album with a few of the preview tracks, but fucks, as a whole, even the seemingly average songs work very well in this collection. This album is seriously fucking awesome. Best songs for me at the moment: 21st Century Breafkdown, !Viva La Gloria!, Last Night On Earth, Peacemaker and American Eulogy. Fucking amazing, ashame the single gave the album a very average impression. Is this album better than Metallica's Death Magnetic? No. Is it a contender for one of the best albums of the past 5 years? Yes.

I moved this here cause someone already closed my fuckin thread. Fuck. I just wanted to start some conversation. But there are rules Smoky, this aint Nam.

Okay kids. I have never posted here. I don't know the 411 on all the message board ettiquettte so go easy. Im not trolling, whatever the fuck that means. Im streamin the album right now though, and would love some conversation.

First off, I have been a Green Day Fan since I was 12 years old. Thats pretty much the same age everyone here, except I was 12 years old 16 years ago. I have seen them live 6 times, and have tickets to add 2 more to that total. I have a six year old daughter named Adeline who can sing all the words to several Green Day songs. I remember a friend in Grade 7 showing me Kerplunk. Coming from the grunge generation (wiki Nirvana) I grabbed on to Green Day and never let go. Obviously got Dookie, which completely changed my outlook on music. Maybe no dookie, means Billy aint a punkrocker. Who knows. Next came Insomniac. This is one of the most underrated punk albums of all time. Even was fortunate to catch them tour this album. Seeing them live with the Riverdales. A real fuckin punk show in a god damn stadium. The whole thing lasted 2 hours including set up and both shows. Fast forward past the other Green Day albums that I still cherish very much and listen to regularly. Needless to say, I am one of those Green Day fans, that was actually hardcore about them before American Idiot. Not trying to be an ass, but its somewhat satisfying to think the band I listened to in my kool-aid dyed, box bleached hair has maybe just released one the greatest rock albums of all time.

21st century breakdown is gonna be this generations version of "The Wall" by Pink Flloyd. Its a wonder. You all fuckin know this. You are, you have, or you will listen right away. This is Green Day's Opus. I saw them twice on the American Idiot tour and I cant wait to see this. This album is louder than anything theyve done. Its so full. The lyrics and story are followable and relevant. I think this is already my Favorite Album of all time. Easily. I know a guy shouldnt rush to judgement, but this album is gonna be remembered for a long, long time. Get excited kiddies. If you thought American Idiot was big, wait till this bomb drops.

First of all, calm yourself, Sparky. 1) There are plenty of people on this board who've been listening to Green Day as long, or longer, than you have--so the attitude isn't necessary. 2) Welcome aboard. 3) I totally agree with you that this album far surpasses American Idiot, even though I really didn't think they could top it.

you're all bloody insane.... INSANE..:unsure: :teehee: :pirate: :P

but yeah, loving the album, not going to download anyone's rip, because I want the actually album, and will rip it myself

the quality will be heaps better..

I'm not listening to the album stream anymore (one listened to the whole thing once), I'm going to be true to the band and listen to it properly on a CD, then my Ipod.

Is this album better than Metallica's Death Magnetic? No.

Well, at least it's mastered better than Death Magnetic all the horrible filters they put onto it to make it loud was ridiculous. And I don't think they can really be compared with each other.

I've got about three songs left, and from what I've heard so far here are some quick thoughts:

Viva La Gloria! - Pretty amazing. I didn't like it too much at first, but when it kicked into the heavy part it got awesome.

Christians Inferno - Meh, can't really understand what he's saying when his voice is all static-y.

Peacemaker - WOW. This is one of the most amazing songs I have ever heard!!!! One of my favorites so far.

Murder City - Realllyyyyy catchy. The solo is awesome too.

Viva La Gloria? (Little Girl) - Whatever article stated that this was like MCR's "Mama" had it spot on. Although I think it is slightly less epic.

Horseshoes and Handgrenades - This is going to sound amazing live.... it's just really one of those loud obnoxious songs. I like it though.

And then of course from the songs that were on the radio on Monday... 21st Century Breakdown is a perfect song to open the album... EJN and BTL are both awesome.

Know Your Enemy seems kind of out of place now that I've listened to the whole thing. Oh well... it's the American Idiot of this album.
