pooldude256
I don't know, it just reminded me of U2/a U2 songintrobut hey, maybe because it was the first time I listened to itU2 don't do songs that...fast-paced. jose armstrong
I disagree. I can relate to these songs, it's all a matter of experience. Not everyone can relate to everything.true.I can relate A LOT to Restless heart syndrome, probably why I love tso much the damn song

Fink
Yeah, it is a matter of experience. For me, I think Jesus of Suburbia had a more profound effect on me. It could be the number of songs that are about Gloria, which I regard as most and I can't really see a connection with myself to her. Like I can't consider myself to really be "The Last of the American Girls" or a "Little Girl". Though I do relate somewhat more with Gloria and I do with Christian.True, there is a storyline throughout the album, but what goes along with that storyline is life. Describing two characters going through life, experiencing something, such as Christian and Gloria makes it able to relate to for us listeners even on the most basic level: being human.Especially "East Jesus Nowhere" is extremely easy for me to relate to as I don't agree with much of what happens because of religion or organized religion itself - so I can take much from that song and appreciate its existence on this album. WrenchNinja
Pretty good album. I really like it. Only problem is that they edited Billie Joe's voice a little too much.

Green Day Nerd
I disagree. I can relate to these songs, it's all a matter of experience. Not everyone can relate to everything.True. But Green Day used to write songs with something that everyone could relate to. Loneliness, Boredom, or even masturbation, etc..I miss those kind of songs from them. It's why I like their old stuff so damn much. But that doesn't mean this album is shit. Its still Green Day. And its still good.
Peel Slowly And See
My theory is that "poop" is the greatest word in the english language, because it's fun to say and sounds exactly like what it is. It begins with an explosive 'p' and ends with one, and between there's a long, sensuous 'oo.'

St. Jimmy of New York
I am not one to compare old albums to new or anything. I am listening to this album front to back right now and I can honestly say I am loving it. Only one persons opinion but this album is fantastic and even if everyone in the world hated it at least I would be happy yay

Break of Day
Something I really, really dislike about this album is that like none of the songs ever start. Murder City does but most of the songs have long, drawn out intros when I just want to listen to them damn song. Compare 90% of this album with anything off of dookie or any other green day album. The song burnout just starts right up and kicks your ass from the very beginning. Most of these songs are too experimental for my liking. I love murder city and I dig static age and a couple others, but this isn't green day to me at all. Hate me all you want.

And its still good.We still have the old stuff. We have a shit ton of love songs from the beginning, Dookie is full of the things you mentioned, and so on... now we have this album full of unique songs that I bet after a few more listens everyone will realize they can relate to various lyrics and perhaps even full songs like I've realized. Just jump into the story and realize that every song Green Day have ever written they have written for themselves, not for us, but since '89 we have related and that's how they have gotten to continue making these albums. Props to them. I'm loving it.
