I already made a thread about this one, well, about the different singles on Large, which is quite the same as EMP.

Also there is a thread about all the albums and SE's and such you can discuss.. so I don't see why this needed a new topic :)

It's gotten confusing, hasn't it? I'm pulling my post from the 21st Century Thread over here to help you out. I believe the Deluxe Edition is the one the original thread poster has found at the link above:

OK, here's what I've got with regard to the various rumored versions of 21st Century floating around. I don't know about the rest of you, but I was confused about what exactly was going to be available, other than the basic version and the Special Deluxe Vinyl/Artbook/CD version.

There are various versions advertised as "Special " or "Deluxe" on both play.com and amazon.com. Not sure if they are anywhere else. But very little description or details.

Here's the poop:

The version with two extra tracks is Itunes/digital only. It does come with a digital book.

Deluxe version is the CD in book form (probably a lot like the AI diary if you are familiar with that) including all the artwork. No extra tracks, though. I think this is the one advertised for a little more $ on the various sites. Sounds like it will be well worth it and a nice way for those who couldn't afford the big dollars version to have all the artwork in smaller form.

Special Deluxe version is the expensive one you could only get through greenday.com. (Limited to 3000 initially). That has the CD, three 10" vinyls, and the full size artwork book.

There will also be a Double 12" vinyl set and of course the basic CD.

Does this make sense? Hope it helps.

Thank you for that. I'm far less confused, but still upset. I wanna buy EVERYTHING.

I think the "digibook" means an electronic version of the artwork that comes with the deluxe versions. So you could have it to look at on your screen via Itunes or Ipod. Just speculating, though.

Looks like the UK'll also be getting the Maxi CD of 'Know Your Enemy.'

if someone were to hand me a million bajillion dollars, i'd go "sorry, im not donating any of this. im buying all the expensive green day delux stuff that i can cram into a U-Haul". I suppose the DVD has the KYE video along with the songs and maybe a short commentary?

OMGF LIKE ITS TOTALLY HEART LIKE A HAND GRENADE IN DESGUISE!

no that wouldn't be worth it. we had the same discussion already in my thread about it :D

why should it be more expensive if you get just a digital version.

a short summary of what we found out in my thread:

-there will be many, many, many, ... deluxe editions. one only for online buying, one for trading etc.. (source: e-mail by german greenday site; official)

-this edition will include 52-pages-advanced-booklet (source: emp.de; lights out and hearts collide were also mentioned there before anyone knew about them)

-a digiPACK is a special cd box, like used for biab. (someone found this out on the internet)

-21st Century Breakdown Deluxe Limited Edition on GreenDayMusic.com, the one with 3 vinyls, special booklet, cd etc limited to 3000

-21st Century Breakdown Special Edition, being sold at some online stores and at the Green Day International official shop, we are not yet sure what it contains.

-21st CB Digibook, it seems to be the same as the American Idiot book, that was an enhanced booklet and the normal CD.

-21st CB Digipack, the CD in that cardboard paper packet, sort of like BIAB, it's normally cheaper and there's normally no booklet.

The link I sent Beth has the image that other websites are using for the digibook, and it says there is a DVD included, so we are not sure about this yet, but don't get your hopes up just yet.

Hope that cleared some stuff up for some of you! :)

And the 47 dollar one on amazon is the Japanese edition with bonus tracks, and it seems to come out 3 days earlier.

Ah, I was thinking it was just more expensive because of the bonus tracks? I didn't have time to read your thread, sounds like an interesting discussion.

Perhaps the Special Edition that Marie mentions in her post is the same as the Digibook. It seems like a lot of places where you can preorder use different ways to describe the same thing. But who knows? The available versions for the US and Europe/UK may end up being quite different, and of course Japan's will probably be different yet again.

For now, I am content that I kind of have it straight in my head what will be available from what source. I think the book form will be worth getting in addition to what I have preordered already. I love my AI version of this kind of packaging. Even better if the rumored DVD is included.
