mplsloseroftheyear
technically its 39 smooth that turns 18 not 1,039 smoothed out slappy hours which was later released with tracks of their slappy and 1,000 hours 7 inches.
MusicalDeviant
This album is now the same age as me. I've only been alive 7 months longer than this album has been around. Wow, that makes me feel like a teenie, sort of.

J'net
Had a good listen and just remembered how much I love At the Library, I Was There, Going to Pasalacqua, 16, Road to Acceptance, Judge's Daughter, Paper Lanterns, Disappearing Boy, Why Do You Want Him? (written when Billie was 14!!!), 409!!!, Dry Ice, The One That I Want, and all the others. How many bands release albums that are so full of good songs? This has made me appreciate again the value Green Day gives us with each album. Instead of just 3 or 4 good songs with the rest being marginal, they give us song after song that's full of wonderfulness!
Hermione
What a fantastic album. I love the simple, honest lyrics, the start of something brilliant. And the gloriously sappy love songs, and the fabulous guitar solos. I need to listen to it right now. Happy birthday! The One I Want technically its 39 smooth that turns 18 not 1,039 smoothed out slappy hours which was later released with tracks of their slappy and 1,000 hours 7 inches.Nah we're celebrating the right one. 1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours is 18, it was released in 1991.39/Smooth was indeed released first, but it was released even earlier than that, in 1990. TheBullwinkle
I'd say "happy birthday!" to it, but I don't think an album can really respond to me. :/ Maybe it'll magically hop out of it's case and into my stereo!
pismodiver
Nah we're celebrating the right one. 1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours is 18, it was released in 1991.39/Smooth was indeed released first, but it was released even earlier than that, in 1990.This makes Green Day eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015. Anja
It´s almost as old as I am! Wow! I wish someone would have given this album to me on my first birthday I remember how much I loved 409 when I first got it. And how 1000 hours became my favorite song after 409! And how I first listened to Knowledge and was like "Huh. What is that?!" Now Going to Pasalacqua would be my favorite song from this album!!! This album is so simple but yet so great! I wish they would play it live from start to finish for just one show
