Green Day

One of the only good things about being older than most of you is the fact I can say I have been able to enjoy being a fan since 1994. I'd love to say I had heard of them prior but unfortunately Longview is the first GD song I ever heard. I have loved going through the hype and excitement each and every time a new album has come out since then. I tell people Green Day is my Elvis and I'll have a picture of them hangin in my living room when I'm really old. They've been my fave since I was 21, I doubt that changes anytime soon.

i've been a fan since 05. but the only reason i heard about them is because of their fame from American Idiot. I asked for the AI cd for Christmas and instead i got International Superhits! and i instantly fell in love with it. (i said this to clarify i am not just a fan because of AI. I heard about them from their success from AI.)

anyway yeah i would say im in it for the long haul.

I've been a fan for about 8 years. Other bands have come and gone, but Green Day has always remained a staple in my life. In fact, Green Day is probably one of the only "pop punk" bands I listen to. I used to get made fun of a lot by hardcore punks in the scene for liking them but I will never be ashamed. I'm in!

9 years and I'm still not tired of them.

Actually I don't have a lot of memories before Green Day, I was just a kid and they just put everything I am and everything I was going through in their songs, and they still do.

It's more than just music, they changed my whole fucking life, and my life would have seen a lot different (bad different) without them.

They helped me carry on and make decisions and never let me down.

That's it, that's all I've got and it's all I want.

I've been a fan since 1994, and I honestly don't see myself giving up Green Day anytime soon. Traditions have formed over the years involving the band (going to at least one show with each album), and I can't see that changing anytime soon. Green Day has such awesome fans, and I am in for the long haul like many of them.

That reminds me of last night in Gilman. I´ve heard people talking about the Fox show cause they went there and a few minutes later when the band who played on stage asked who likes Green Day, everyone went like "Nooo", "Buuuuh" and so on. (The band played "I wanna be on T.V." after that). I felt kind of strange for liking GD while being with all those hardcore fans but oh well. It was kind of funny actually :)

It took me forever to notice that this is Billie with a guitar

Hehe, it's from the shirt, but I actually got it from a sticker at a vending machine at an ice cream place! They had all Green Day stickers for 50 cents each, I kept coming back with change to get them all!

Its okay because I know what it is and that's what matters. I once had someone ask me what it was when we were at Coney Island, NY. I was like umm... it's Billie Joe Armstrong playing the guitar. And she was like, oh it looked like a monkey. Psh.

I agree with what the other person said about being able to experience Green Day since 1994. It's been an amazing ride for this long. Sometimes I wish fans who just go to know them from AI were around at that time. It was awesome to see them grow from Longview, and to buy Dookie, the album that made them famous, on the day it came out.

I knew then, Green Day would be my favorite band for life. And for 15 years, I've been right. I don't see that going away. They've inspired me to love music, to create a website, to be myself, to get through the death of people who meant a lot to me, to overcome my wanting to take my life.

As one of my favorite songs Reject says, "Who the hell are you to tell me what I am, and what's my master plan?"

I am in for the long haul...

When I was 14, The Beatles changed my life. They were my favorite band pretty much 30 years.

Until four years ago. A lot happened I won't go into. American Idiot acme out, and that was when I knew. Green Day had taken over.

People thought maybe it was a fad, maybe just a band I was really stuck on for a moment, but would stop loving so intensly...

Still I haven't.

They have topped the list of every band I love. I can not imagine my life without Green Day's music.

Do I still love The Beatles? Fuck yeah I do.

The difference is I relate to Green Day, with the Beatles there are a few songs I relate to (USually JOhn's) but overall with them it was the sound only.

With Green Day it is everything.

So people may say "Well you said you were with The Beatles for the long haul.".To which I would answer yea, I did.

It is kinda like this. You meet someone, and you sort of hit it off. You're young. You change though, as you grow you change. So eventually the person ends up a friend, and that is that.

So one day you look across the room, and there is someone else. You talk, and you know. You just know that that person is going to have you forever.

So you are friends with the person you met when you are young, but the person you saw across the room. You are with them forever.

That is kind of a dumb way to explain it. I know. People are fickle and not the best example. It is all I can think of as I am super tired. Just got in from a long night.

Still I know. Green Day are somethign I will never leave behind.

I'm only 20 so I wasn't really listening to it when it first came out but as soon as I picked up Green Day I got into everything...1,039 to now 21st Century Breakdown. I can relate to so much of what's written...it will always be a part of me.

Well I'm 18 but I know them since I was around the age of 11. Anyway I know them since the release of Warning. Couldn't say I liked them instantly (my music type at that age was slightly different) but after hearing it a few times I bought the album and then it hit me.

I hope I can last for the long haul. After all these years they have never disappointed me and I still like them as much as I like my cat. Haha :P Believe me.. that's much.

Green Day is just a part of my life that hopefully will stay forever

I'm a 12 year old girl from Williamstown, New Jersey.

I would just like to say that Billy joe is so hot but he swears too much and that makes god cry. It makes me sad that he loves Obama so much though. Obama is a terrorist Muslim, or at least that's what my mom tells me. I hope that the Green Day show over the summer doesn't happen on the same day as Kelly Clarkson, because that would bea totally stupid.

I just found out about greenday, but boulevard of broken dreams is such a great song. it so sad, and makes me want to cry. but billy is so hot that I just smile. I heard their new song and it sounds fun. maybe avril and them could tour together. :D I don't think I'm gonna be a fan once her new album is out, because I like her music better. Its more fun to dance to.

hahaha... i liked this.

Awe, well I first spotted them in 1994 on MTV (ga) with Basket Case and I was hooked. However, I was into other music when I was around 10, 'cause nobody that I was good friends with liked rock, they were all flogging towards J-LO and all that shite. But the flame was re-ignited in 2003, and it's never been brighter. Although I wasn't into them for a few odd months last year *hence why I was saying I didn't like Tre, I feel like a fucking cow for saying that now* but it's back baby, and this time, it's for good. They're the band I've spent the most money on, so yeah.. haha.

The thing about Green Day for me is that I cannot say I am their number one fan for their music but don't get me wrong, I like a lot of it. Green Day were handed to me about 13 years ago by a close friend of mine who thought they were the best. He still does and seeing that in him makes me smile about Green Day too. What really draws me to this band though, other than their music is the men themselves. Not in a teeny 'gosh they are hot' way but their dynamic together and the public personalities we see. (I say public as I am sure there are many elements of personality that remain hidden!).

For me, Green Day are special as they stay together and continue to produce (on the most part) excellent music and seem to be the best of friends. Unlike bands such as U2, none of the members seem to have been swallowed by ego and I think that for me is a major reason for my love of them.

umm - I am going to stop rambling now.

i can't actually pinpoint when i became a fan, b'cause i actually remember singing along to when i come around, since my dad was a fan and kept the CD in the car.

it was only when AI came out that my dad told me that the band who did when i come around was in fact Green Day, who also did minority and good riddance.

so basically when AI came out, i'd heard most of their hits, without knowing it was them (if that makes any sense at all xD)

2 years ago, GD was the only band I listened to, I couldn't imagine liking anything else, and I kept telling myself the first gig i go to would be them. But my taste completly changed and i got more into metal etc. But i've still got a place in my heart for GD, i can't forget the years of obsession i had when AI came out. I'm just not as obsessed anymore. (:

I've liked them for a good four or five years now, 'cause earlier than that, I wasn't really aware of their music. I'm hooked though, now, and I always will be. I kinda wish I was a few years older, so I could have appreciated their older stuff when it first came out.

i'm in for it.

as long as i'm alive, green day will be in my life.

i can't thank them enough for what they've done to me. they have made me the person i am today. if it weren't for those three men, i wouldn't be in my music course, i wouldn't be listening to the music i listen to and i definitely would not spend a lot of money to see the bands i love.

i've been a fan since '97, and i'm positive i will never stop loving them.
