They've been my favorite band since I was 14 and they are still my favorite band at 29 so i'm guessing i'm gonna be in for the long haul.

I was how Andres said a lot of people end up when I first started liking Green Day. I figured it would be a phase, I'd only like them for as long as they were popular. But when I discovered Green Day I was only 12, the age my brother is now, and I was still growing up. To me it's sort of like, Green Day grew up with me in such a great part of my life. The years between then and now have been some of the best parts of my life. They helped me make some of the best friends I have now. They were such a good part of my life that they've stuck with me. I know it's only been 4 or 5 years I've been a fan but it just doesn't feel like a phase. They're very close to me and I would like to say I am in it for the long run. I can't see myself never liking Green Day. Especially as I started liking them during American Idiot, and then had such a HUGE wait between AI and 21st CB. I think that if I was ever going to stop loving them it would have been through that huge gap in albums. But they've stuck with me and I'm happy about that.

So yea, I think I'm in it for the long run. :)

Green Day was the first band I ever really got into which was about when American Idiot was released. They will always have a special place in my heart.

this.

Me not loving Green Day? I can't imagine such a thing! Put me down for the long haul, Green Day is everything that's right about music to me and that's not going to change.

I've been a fan for almost 4 years now. I'm not as obsessed as I was when I was 13, but they are still my favourite band and I plan on still listening to them and posting on this forum for a long time.

I don't know what it is about them, after discovering literally hundreds of bands since 2006 I still regard them as being in a different league to all of them.

It's wierd how everyone who's really into music has 'their band'; it's definately Green Day for me.

I think me.

I thought my mate would be, but recently, Ive tried to get him back into them. But lost him to Techno and Screamo, this really wrecked me up :(

Im not going anywhere, there is something about their music..

Well, I've been a fan since the early 90's, but the interesting thing to me is that my love of their music has just grown with each passing year. I think it was about the time Warning came out that I realized I was in it for the long haul (Minority had a huge impact on me, and I loved a lot of the other songs on that album). That's not to say that I liked each album more than the last, but with each album, their entire catalog up to that point became more important to me.

I'll be quite surprised if I give up on them after all these years.

I haven't been a fan for as long as alot of people, but I have gone through alot of phases as I grew up. I always thought that I would always love something, and then I grew out of it. So, speaking from that experience- how I feel about Green Day is totally different. I've never had any of my phases mean as much to me as Green Day's music does. And it's not just their music- it's them. They inspire me in so many ways.

Not only are they these massive rock stars, but they're real, down to earth people. They do so much for charity, and they're just all around amazing. Plus, they're not afraid to speak their minds, and I love that too.

So I'm thinking it's safe to say I'm in for the long haul.

Ok, i'm a little drunk while making this topic, so it might not last. But, this is something close to my heart... Green Day. Fans come and go, but who's really in it for the long haul? I've been a fan for about 15 years now and i see no reason why Green Day shouldn't continue to be 'my' band. I believe in their music and everything they stand for. What about you? I don't think there's much loyalty in music, when it comes to bands, but i'm proud to say i'm a loyal Green Day fan. :)

As Andres said, some people outgrow the band at some point; my ex-girlfriend heard the preview of Know Your Enemy and decided that she's 'over them.' She's my age, been listening as long as I have (since '94).

But fuck that. This is my one favorite band; I haven't been, nor will I be, nearly as loyal to another band as I have Green Day.

I have been a die hard for pretty much 15 years now. I loved them 15 years ago, and I love them now. It's increased into something bigger than it once was, it's increased into love, healthy respect, and loyalty. This is my band, and I love them more than most people understand. And I don't see that ever changing.

I've got a tattoo, for fuck's sake  I'd say that's pretty indicative of commitment

Green Day aren't really my favorite band any more but I still like them a lot and I think I will for a really long time. Also, after hearing their new album last Friday I think it's gonna help me like them even more.

Yeah, it kinda is. Kinda :) Some of it anyway... And I'm sure if GD ever decided to give it a go, it probably would far from suck. Billie would rock da mic.

I'm way to white to try and pull that off.

so here is the conclusion: we'll always love green day

In a nutshell, yes. Those of us long devoted to the call of GD sure do. They're gonna garner short term fans. But they sure have garnered some long term, kick ass fans. This is the best fanbase there is. Period.
