iLozza!
I want them to play Knowledge so I can go on stage. Haha awesome, good luck to you.I hope they play a lot of their new songs on the next tour. Quite a few of them, just a couple of AI songs, something like basketcase or longview from dookie, a couple of Warning songs, then good riddance or summat. W Axl Rose
They're bigger now. a LOT of people at their concerts on the last tour ONLY knew American Idiot... heck, one time I was talking about how Dookie was a good album in a chat room, and someone was like, "THEY PUT OUT A NEW ALBUM?!?!"Plus, they had all those years to play their old songs. They couldn't play 21CB any time before now, so why not play most of their new songs? Eventually these songs will get old and won't be played as much.I want them to play Knowledge so I can go on stage. After Dookie, you would have been hard pressed to find a fan who thought they could ever top that success. Especially after Warning bombed commercially. At the AI club shows I saw , everyone pretty much knew everything but then again at those shows you have the really freaky hardcore fans. Regardless of how big they are there is no reason why they can't throw out some old songs. It isn't like Pasalaqua,Christie Road, etc. sound that dated. Listen ,no matter what they play not everyone will be happy. I am probably one of the only fans who can't stand Basket Case and uses that song to go to the bathroom at a show. However along with Time Of Your Life (which I still love) it is probably their biggest song and will not be dropped in an arena setting. They pretty much always play Knowledge. farley drexel hatcher
What the fuck are you talking about? I 'll bring it up ten times if I want to. It is relevant because IMO, the setlists were better back then. Who the fuck said anything about being better? A fan is a fan if you have seen them once, ten times or not at all. There are just different levels that people take their fandom to. I am lucky I got to see them so often. I never said that makes me any better of a fan. I'll stop posting my pics with Green Day so you don't think I am trying to prove I am a "better" fan.Past setlists would indicate the band plays these older songs for the warmup shows then drops them in an arena setting.I didn't even know you'd posted photos of yourself with the band. But telling people they were too young and weren't around when the 'better' setlists were, as thought they can't have an opinion on the matter, that's putting yourself above them in my opinion. W Axl Rose
Yeah, in your opinion. I wouldn't mind if they dropped songs like Basketcase and When i Come Around, Welcome to Paradise. I love Minority, but still, it's been played a million times. I'd be totally content if they only played the new songs. So explain to me how bringing up past shows I have seen when discussing what the set will be for the new tour is not relevant? take a poll of people who have been GD fans for ten plus years and I bet the majority of them would vote for older material. You pretty much get the response of "I would be happy no matter what they play" from newer fans and people who have never seen them live.

W Axl Rose
so why are you asking if they will drop the old songs? you already know that the majority of the songs they play will be the new ones not the old ones.To stimulate a discussion other than some of the ones about Billie Joes hair? A band like Pearl jam for example will play 2.5 hour shows every night, mixing up the set from all 8 albums. You would never see the same show twice, not even close in terms of set list. They do this for the fans who travel to multiple shows and to keep things fresh for themselves. If Green Day can't be bothered to switch up their set, that shows lazyness on their part. W Axl Rose
If it really bothers you that much, don't go to their shows. You don't have to defend everything they do. They aren't going to see your post and bring you backstage. I'll decide how many shows I wanna see, ok? Thanks. As a paying customer it is my right to discuss/complain about the set lists. I have friends that I have seen Green Day with since High School. It brings back a lot of good memories for us when we are there. Road trips are also a good time. Somewhere in that enjoyment, the set list comes up. If it isn't an issue for you, great.

You pretty much get the response of "I would be happy no matter what they play" from newer fans and people who have never seen them live.Dude, fuck off already. You're talking as if seeing them early on is the only way anyone can actually have a valid opinion. It doesn't matter if you saw them in the 90's or haven't seen them at all. It just doesn't fucking matter. If you liked their old shows better, great! Go find some videos and re-live your best memories of the band. That doesn't mean the news are shit, that just means IN YOUR OPINION they're not as good. And people will disagree with you. Being a fan in the 90's or not until American Idiot is completely irrelevant in that discussion. I'm sure there are people who became fans in 2004 (or more recently) who would rather go to a show where they only played old material -- just as i'm sure there are people who have been fans for 20 years who would prefer to go to a show now. My point is simple. Some of us like going to shows because Green Day puts on a damn good show. I could care less if they played older songs or newer songs, because it's still the same 3 guys putting on show. Would i love to hear a set of stuff from Kerplunk or all of Dookie, yup! But that doesn't make me think newer shows will be any worse because they don't play those.

I actually like their music as well, but I'd also love if they threw some older stuff in their. Just for the sake of it. I mean, I love new stuff, but old stuff is great and you don't hear it as often as the newer music. I agree with the other guy, we are paying so we are allowed to have out concerns. That doesn't mean we don't like them, 'cause we do, why else would we pay a fortune to see a show?

They put out their material and play shows because thats what they like doing, and the idea is that people who also enjoy what they do, should go and be a part of it.
