The Judges Daughter 86
no i understand what your saying the word "bargain" does make sense but its a "f". ahhhhh idk what the word is though. i think it might be fountain. Although bargain makes more sense... i i know i hear no ba. hmmm....
Modern Zero.
I'm not hearing "fountain" at all... I definately hear a "Bar" sound when he first sings it. And Bargain makes more sense than "fountain"I wish I had some program to slow down the song, or make it so i can only hear Billie's vocals.....lol

CalmestFishintheNet
The lyrics are great! Although I don't like how it says, "gotta know the enemy right here." Right here? Doesn't sound that great to me... how about; "gotta know the enemy right now?" IDK, *shrugs*, just a silly opinion.I think it might say "God, I know the Enemy right here" as in the Enemy is right there in front of his face. Sound better? Idk I'm just throwing that out there. It's raw ham!Mm, I'm not even trying to figure out the lyrics. I don't understand a word from it. Even though I know some of the lyrics now, I don't come any further than the chorus and "hey, did he just say violence? oh, that was that line....". Modern Zero. (Woh, oh, oh, oh!)Do you know the enemy?Do you know your enemy?Well gotta know the enemy (Wah-eh!) x2Insurgency will riseWhen the blood's been sacrificed We'll be blinded.......(Guitar solo here maybe?)And then later on in the song:Well violence is an energy (Woh, oh, oh, oh!)Well silence is the enemy,So gimme, gimme, revolution! Do you know the enemy?Do you know your enemy?Well gotta know the enemy (Wa-hey!) x2Silence is the enemy, Against your urgency so rally up the demons of your soul! (Woh, oh, oh, oh!)Infantry - soldiers who are primarily trained for the role of fighting on foot.Effigy - a crude representation of someone disliked, used for purposes of ridicule.Insurgency - a rebellion against a constituted authority. Those three word's definitions seem to make sense with the song as well. ^I still think these are the lyrics.... Fuzz
I'm more and more convinced that he says "right here", just with his drunken slur that he enjoys so much just to fuck with us.
Modern Zero.
^Yeah, I agree with how Billie likes to slur his words together a lot. He tends to do that a lot, even in their earlier albums. But I'm still convienced that it's "Wah-eh" just because it seems to go with all of the "Woh, oh, oh, oh's" and it sort of adds to the theme of the song and is just there to add something special to it. The first time I listened to the preview, i heard "Wah, eh" soo...yeah. idk. :/
.Holly
I'm still really convinced he's singing "God I know the enemy right'ere". I think it makes much more sense than "Gotta know the enemy". It's like he's saying "do you know the enemy cos I know the enemy."Guess we'll just have to wait until the CD comes out...

I thought that one of the magazine articles had the lyrics "Gotta know the enemy" though....?Edit: yeah, it was in the AP article. They say, "Deceptively simple with its Clash-like guitars and shouting verses of, 'Do you know the enemy/Well Gotta know the enemy' this huge rocker is a call to arms against apathy." http://www.greendayauthority.com/articles/...Press/scan6.jpg
music_that_is
I agree with most of yours except I think it's..."We're burning down the bargain of control" I definately here a "Ba" sound when he says "Bargain" I don't hear an "F" And it makes sense because when you think of the word "Bargain" it means an agreement to exchange things at a price. I think in this case, I think it's trying to say that in the song, they don't want that control that people are bargaining for and that they want to burn that control down.Couldn't agree more. Angela.
First time I heard KYE, I was like, "Fuck, guess it's time to play, 'What the hell did Billie just sing?'". And now that I've read the lyrics that everybody's been posting, it's like, "Oh, now I hear it perfectly."

And now that I've read the lyrics that everybody's been posting, it's like, "Oh, now I hear it perfectly." Haha, I wish I had that! I only hear the lyrics right when I know them by heart, otherwise I, or don't hear any existing word at all, or I'll get very weird sentences Now at KYE, it's "Mm, chorus.....hey, he just said violence, are we there already? mm...." I catch some little words, but not much (usually "control" "demons of your soul" "violence" "silence is the enemy" "obey" "energy" and "sacrifice", that's about it). Oh, and of course the "Is he saying 'rahey' or 'wahey'?

Mommy's Little Nightmare
Yeh, I'm not convinced it's fountain. Maybe it's "frontman", then he could be talking about getting rid of George Bush. Just an idea...I doubt it's frontman. I think I'm hearing fountain. He likes to use imagery and symbolism, which is why I think fountain makes sense for him here.
