arrie44
I think I'm just a super spoiled Green Day fan. I'm so used to getting absolutely floored by their music being so good. This one isn't flooring me at all but maybe it works for someone else...just sucks for me I guess. That being said I'm not worried about the album because the 21st Century Breakdown demo was extremely fuckin solid!!
Comrade
Now I've warmed to the song, its let me reflect on how some fans just may not 'get' this album. It is a departure. The way I can relate to this is Insomniac. I like that record the least. I just don't find the singles listenable to at all, and despite knowing the album is of their characteritic high standard, I just don't 'get' it. I like everything before and everything since. I can see how people may be like that with this coming album. Luckily I'm feeling the vibe, but for alot of people, only time will tell.
Kaddi.
ZOMG I just got the email about the Green Day widget and it says that Know Your Enemy officially releases on April 16 - my birthday!!!! FUCK YEAH!*does happy dance*It's also my birthday
piratepalmer
Hmm. Well I love it - I don't think it's a "departure" in any way from what they've done in their recent history - but I personally don't have a problem with that. And it's a clip, so who knows what the whole thing will sound like - let alone the whole album. One thing's for sure: it's extremely catchy

Iwannajumpout
The studio a band records in makes a big difference in sound. As a sound engineer, I have to disagree. Tonally yes, you can change how a band sounds by changing the studio. But, I can walk into any studio with the right gear, the right people, and the right budget, and record something that sounds nearly identical to something done somewhere else. I can also walk into Ocean Way studios with Green Day's exact gear and record an album that sounds nothing like them.To clarify, your oven doesn't determine what comes out of it. It's what ingredients you put in the oven, and in what quantities. The oven does affect it to a point (whether it is burnt or raw), but it won't change the ingredients for cupcakes into a pie. (I wish)The "sound" I think you are referring to is whether or a not an album sounds like, let's say Warning vs. Insomniac. Those kind of sound/song changes come from the band, and the producer, not the studio.
Boston
The Foxboro Hot Tubs and Green Day budded and the new sound has blown my head off.

J'net
I just finally had the chance to listen to the clip and follow the lyrics. I've been so freaking busy with GDA stuff the past 12 hours that I didn't have the chance to properly enjoy it. This clip is so fucking good. Is it repetative, the part we heard, yes. But i agree with mjfisher209 about that not being a negative quality for the song. I feel like this songs builds off Minority in such a positive way. Minority was sort of the "yeah i don't care that I'm different, fuck you" song, and this song takes it to the next level, talking about that group of people standing up and taking action for the things they want. The whole kind of insurgency activist feel is nicely portrayed in the song. It might change it's meaning when we hear the album and see where it comes from, but on it's own it's really awesome. The kind of song that just picks you up, you feel sorta like "fuck yeah! i'm pissed off and ready to change the fucking world"or maybe that's just meIt's not just you . Anja
It's not just you .Right. I liked what you had to say about it and the comparison with "Minority" fits very well in my opinion I totally agree with you there.

I was just trying to say that the clip sounds too similar to AI. I know the song is new, but it doesn't have that little extra kick to get me excited.
