Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love
Well, I don't know him, and if it's not star-casting for the sake of star-casting, I'll hold off any judgement.
Laura!
Weird choice for a replacement, I think. I have no clue how his voice is, so I can't really judge yet.
sundaymorning6am
Though this does really make me want Kelly Clarkston as St. Jimmy... flame me or not... she's got it going on. I was actually surprised at the music that she put out after American Idol. I'll cosign for Kelly as the next female St. Jimmy. Let's get this contract in the works. And yes, Justin was fine in Women/Verge, but the show was a massive waste of energy and he didn't have ALL that much to do... though you know, neither does Will! jetsrule128
the guy is not a rock singer there has been so many rock people on idol ....if it is stunt casting because of idol they picked the wrong guy and insted of esper's blue hair where going to have justin's afro? can he even play the guitar? just wrong
Bastard of 1967
it just felt kinda more tight knit than normal theatre casts... Still is.
Moffie
No one can replace Esper. But as long as they don't advertise Justin as "That Guy From American Idol" and he can work it, I think I'll survive.

sundaymorning6am
No, justin's totally not a rock singer - or maybe he's just never had the opportunity to rock it out before. Who knows. As for most of Will's songs in the show - they're not all that punk-rock either. Give Me Novocaine? Pretty mellow until the end. the guy is not a rock singer there has been so many rock people on idol ....if it is stunt casting because of idol they picked the wrong guy and insted of esper's blue hair where going to have justin's afro? can he even play the guitar? just wrong
Moffie
it was 10 years a go american idol fans think of him as a joke if they are smart they won't advertise as the guy from american idol how is billie ok with this So true. He was cast in a Broadway show before American Idol he chose American Idol instead of that show. I think that was a bad move. I heard good things from "Women On The Verge" and that was far from stunt-casting. Maybe he really impressed those involved with casting. Let's see what happens. I just can't shake off the old "American Idol" tag he still somewhat has on him. It's not his fault but I always hated when American Idol alumni joined shows. Sometimes, it's almost like a death sentence. I will keep an open and refrain from hating on him before we even have confirmation that he IS going to be Will. jetsrule128
i love how that poll is like people want adam lambert and they give us justin guarini lol
sundaymorning6am
I would watch for the news to break on BroadwayWorld first. They're less official about waiting until the producers say an embargo is over on a certain press release, and they'll usually release something a bit earlier than Playbill. plaid ducky
Well, considering the other Idol alum joining a theatre, just be glad we didn't Sanjaya. When they recast, they aren't usually going to have people who look like the original actor take over. Does Gerard look anything like John? Not by a long shot. If Justin is Will, then they'll will deal with how to make him his own Will and not a copy of Esper. Because quite frankly, I would find that more disappointing. People should not be heading towards the ledge yet. It's hard enough to join already a well-oiled machine but to have a target on your back and people already disliking you before you even step on stage, well, that's just not fair. IMHO.

Lorraine.
I can't get over the fact that a runner up of American Idol will be in the musical. Doesn't scream American Idiot to me. It's weird that Mayer and Armstrong are sort of okay with this, unless the kid has amazing talents we don't know or maybe it's out of their hands. But, man...I can't see anyone else performing Will besides Esper. I said that with Tony and Melissa wasn't as god awful as I thought she would be. I gotta wait until I see this one. I feel like the musical is hitting bumps in the road though.

Jaymee!!
I just lol'd. All I can picture are Justin's curls Out of curiosity, I decided to do a premium seat search for one ticket on the evening of the 27th...sold out! I'm excited! jetsrule128
any st peacock reviews yet?
plaid ducky
He was great. His hair reminded me of Sweeney Todd/Edward Scissorhands. His costume was basically Kobak's old costume, the black shirt and pants. He didn't have any other costume item until Whatsername with the jacket, which is different since all the other Jimmys had the jacket by LOTAG/SAR. I don't think that I can be totally objective since I've just wanted him to go on. He could have been bad and I still would have said he was good. But honestly, he did a good job. He had a couple touchy vocal moments but you can tell it was nerves. I was just really proud to see him go on. Heh. As a friend of mine pointed out, this was one performance that I wished there was video for. Besides St. Peacock, there was Ben!Tunny and Van!Johnny. Ben!Tunny is amazing. I love Stark but Ben makes me cry. Van's Van, It's my 3rd time seeing him in the past three days. I still prefer Gallagher. Also, I heard a rumor of who's replacing Christina. It's an interesting choice if it's true. I actually saw her at the show tonight... Let's just say, it's another SA alumni.

plaid ducky
Heh. Would y'all want to know the casting rumors or keep them vugue? The news of Justin made everyone in a tizzy so it's probably best for casting rumors to be kept vugue. You can guess, there's no harm in guessing. Plus, the casting rumors that I've heard are all Broadway/theatre people so you wouldn't know who they were.
Velocity
IdiotArmyGirls on Twitter just posted this: New EG? RT @lucasbrady: RT @MarissaODonnell: congrats to my girlie @KrystinaAlabado on American Idiot!! Rock the old white way friend! So I guess we know who the New Extraordinary Girl is. According to her profile, Krystina was part of the 1st national tour of Spring Awakening.
mallorymaloney
For fuck's sake. Am I ever glad I got to see the musical twice before the producers decided to fuck it up with all of this possible stunt casting. Not to mention it's going to make the fact that at the beginning of the show, you can hear Ryan Seacrest's voice announcing 'This is ... AMERICAN ID ---' just before American Idiot kicks in and swallows up the word 'Idol' seriously fucking ironic. ... In a bad way.
Nmd
I really do hope this ends up going on tour. Obviously it would be different without the obc, but I still think it'd be amazing.
Moffie
I love Krystina and I know she'll do great (and she's an absolute doll) but I'm a little exhausted from SA alumni coming in. And this is coming from someone who went to DC just to see the Tour cast. But we'll see what happens. Won't this mark her Broadway debut if this rumor is more than a rumor?
plaid ducky
Yes, it's her debut. She was who was at Idiot tonight. Like I said, she's an interesting choice, especially opposite Stark. She's has the foreign look that they probably wanted. We'll see. .
