American Idiot Musical (Theatrical Production)

The production will be at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre with previews on February 26, 2011 and opening on March 27, 2011. If Idiot closes in January as many predict, then it seems like she'll have enough time for rehearsals before previews. Then again, Idiot could continue and Heather could just be recast.

Thanks for the info about the show. And yes, there could be a recast. We'll see what happens.

She sent out such a sad tweet about being hurt and out of AI for a few days. Didn't say anything about the BroadwaySpotted tweet.

Urgh. Gotta see this show a few more times by January. I am going to try lotto tomorrow, but I don't have the luck of the Irish when it comes to that damned lotto, lol.

The two times that I won lottery was when they were for someone else and I either couldn't see the show or I already had a ticket. LOL.

It looks like I'm moving back to Florida at the beginning of next month so my last Idiot show will be on the 29th. Probably the 10 PM one. I hoping the lottery will be easy since it's going on when other shows are just beginning.

Well, if it's casting for any of the leads, then it won't probably happen until January because I know that both John's and Stark's contracts aren't up until then. Quite frankly, I rather them not stunt cast the show. Billie coming in as St. Jimmy was not stunt casting since he wrote the music and everything. But if say, they bring an American Idiol person in for Johnny, I won't be pleased.

I rather the show ends on a high note with a high quality cast than be dragged out with a sub-part cast. That's kind-of what happened with Spring Awakening, IMHO.

If an American Idol person came onto the show, shit would hit the fan and sort of go against the show.

Hunter was not the best Melchior (in fact, he was the worst Melchior, imo) but Gerard and Emma were my favorite Moritz/Ilse pairing.

Ah, sorry that you are leaving. That seems sudden! I hope all is well.

Wow, a 10PM show! Dang, I'd love to go to a late night Idiot. Nice that they are giving the cast off for Halloween night! Sadly, I'll be on my way to DC for the Stewart/Colbert Rally.

Fuck, I hope the show can hold out 26 more days until I get to see it ... I'm going to be seriously, seriously, seriously fucked up if it closes before then. It's not going to be pretty. At all.

I really hope they would give the public the courtesy to announce the closing, like, a month or so before. I doubt they'd be like, "Sorry dudes, we're closing next week! Had a ticket? S2BY!"

Exactly. If they did that at least I, and everyone else planning to see it, could at least find a way to somehow switch everything over to a new date ...

But I've heard so many horrible stories of Broadway shows literally being open one night and then closed the next without any prewarning whatsoever. So ... Yeah, terrified over here, lawl.

It's because those shows drew in no crowd whatsoever. Besides, they could bring in Billie again at some point for profits. And for profits sake, I like to think these producers would announce the closing for some time to get there in advance.

The rumor is January/Feb anyway so chill. :)

Jet, the answers to your questions can be found in the post above yours.

Mallory, you're fine. There are rumors that they're going to have Billie come back in November, so they'll keep open until then at least.

Fuck, I need a job so I can see this again.

I've become quite addicted to this little musical.

I'm not complaining though.

yeah but why are they doing a 10 pm show?

someone posted this on a broadway site

American Idiot has a lot of plans to keep the show running till at least next summer. Very exciting casting that is yet to be confirmed or a done deal

obviously no one saw this

the show is not closing soon

That's great but did you get it from a reliable site or a message board? Message boards tend to have some legit information but a lot of rumors.

well THE CAST BETTER GIVE A MOTHERFUCKING GOODBYE SHOUTOUT TO OUR PLAID on the 29th then!

stuntcasting means throwing in some D-list type famous actors on the stage like the backstreet boys?

BTW, I'll be at the rally, too. Kinda helps living in DC. :) If there are a good number of GDCers about, maybe we should have a meet-up. Is there a thread somewhere about it?

Heh. My friends and I have some Halloween things planned so hopefully the cast will play along. I didn't know I would be back on the 29th so on the 10th I gave Johnny a Trick-or-Treat bag between shows. When I talked to him at Rockwood, he said that Theo had already started eating the candy corn.

Stunt casting can be good but for the most part, it's bad. I would say that "In The Heights" has been doing some stunt casting with Corbin from "High School Musical" and Jordin from "American Idol." Ashlee Simpson going into "Chicago"... that was stunt casting. "Chicago" has been stunt casting for years, though. :D But yeah. If they announce that Nick Carter was going to play Tunny, that would be stunt casting.

I'm pretty sure it will last its original run. It's just a gut feeling I have, so don't fret until you hear otherwise!

I thought you lived in NYC, oh well, my bad, lol.

I don't think there is a thread for it that I know of. I'll be with my old political satirist group, Billionaires For Bush, so I'll be with them (we are neither billionaires nor for Bush, by the way...), but if you see a bunch of people in tiaras and tophats, that will be us!

yes, please. i'm down with that.

So all this talk about closing is unfounded?

Me and my bezzie were making preliminary plans to fly to New York in Dec to see this because we thought it might be closing 31st Jan... Then i realised that I can't get time off work.... grrrr. And my parents won't let me skip school. But if they're planning to keep it open until the end of next summer at least then there is hope!!

Living in England REALLY sucks. Or rather living in England and being broke really sucks...

Hmm, that's true ... I should really relax, I know, but I've been like this with everything even moderately important my whole life: I worry the fuck out of it.

Damn, it'd be awesome if he showed up on the ninth! :D Haha, I'm not picky, though, any show is better than no show.

This wee exchange made me realise that Plaid is a lot closer to the cast memebers than I ever suspected! Forgive me if this is a prying question, Plaid, but have you known any of the cast members for a long time as personal friends, or ...? ((Feel free to ignore this if you don't wish to disclose.))

Thanks for the reassureance, Tee! I'm feeling a little better now after everyone's replies, I must admit. I'm so pessimistic with things like this ... Ugh!

OMG, I'm guessing they thought she was Rebecca?! How awesome would that be if it were true?! I love Serena.

hmm...i don'T know...it's 50x50..i don¨t know,if i like this .....

What d'you mean ...? :o
