Do we know who Gloria is yet?

Her name hasn't appeared on any of the casting calls I've seen.

everything sounds amazing but the only thing i don´t understand is that whatsername and extraordinary girl are two different girls.

i always thought they are the same person.

My friend went to the understudy/replacement audition and said there was a lot of confusion over Gloria/Whatshername/Extraordinary Girl. The casting agents didn't say much, but they did tell someone that it will all make sense in the context of the play. My friend also asked if they were casting for Gloria and they just said no.

J'net he is a nice guy, I wrote some of the lyrics to St Jimmy on his wall today and he finished them off lol

:)

All the confirmed guys in the cast are incredibly nice. I've met John, Brian, and Gerard several times and they love talking about their craft and the productions they're involved in. John Gallagher Jr. usually plays "When I Come Around" at his solo shows and loves talking music with fans. Gerard is such a little rock star, it's insane. I've never seen him have a bad night during a show, ever. Brian is really sweet and his voice completely blows me away sometimes. I've never met Theo personally, but my Hair obsessed friends say he's super sweet. All four of them are extremely talented. I really wish I could see this show!

You are just feeding my anticipation! There's so much Green Day goodness happening this year, I really don't know how I'm going to handle it all !

Ok, you may find this cheesy, but about Tony Vincent.....

Tony has impacted on the life of every individual that ever became his fan --truly. Each of us will have a unique and personal story to tell.

My story began in 2002 when I went to see WWRY in London, and my life hasn't been the same since he stepped onto the stage that nite.

There's no getting away from the fact that he is ridiculously talented. That side of him (the artist) is laid out before you all already. But, what's even more amazing than the voice, is the man behind the artist, --tony vincent (the person) who you will not be familiar with.....yet.

What is special about Tony is that he reaches out to people in need - touching lives and healing hearts, not only through his music, but through his very being - through his very soul. He is a man of integrity - a sweet natured, kind, warm, gentle, articulate, faithful, funny, inspirational, motivational rock 'n' roll wine lover, who gives of himself freely and humbly. I know I'm totally biased here, but seriously - you all will come to know what I'm talking about for yourselves when you meet him - you only have to be in his environment a short time and you're sold on him. And, if he doesn't capture you with his voice, or personality, then he'll capture you with his good looks! ...eyes and teeth everyone....eyes (esp with 'guy liner') and teeth!!!...(ohh and the hair ;).

Everyone needs a 'Tony Vincent' in their world, I think. Each day I feel continually blessed to have him, his music, and his fans, in my own life, - he is THE best, and for that reason I am committed to spreading the word on him - on his music, and on his message 'til we both frickin' well, die!

OK, cheese over! --enjoy him ;).

It's ok most of us on this board have our very own they're called Billie Joe, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool, how you described Tony is exactly how most of us view this band. That is why Green Day are so special to us seriously, it goes way beyond the music, its I don't know how to describe it really, you either get GD or you don't and if you do you don't need to explain it to anyone else that does. If you don't there's no point, GD for me are the best thing that ever happened to me, they keep me going, I have some really hard and shit times with my health but they and their music are my inspiration, so I can totally related to where you are coming from :)

Beautiful posts, both of those. Nova-Caine, I feel exactly that way about Billie, Mike & Tre as well. It's indescribable to someone who doesn't already get it. I'm glad there are so many people here who do.

It's a nice looking little theatre, I stopped by while I was visiting the Oakland/Berkeley Green Day sites yesterday, and it's insanely close to the BART station, so getting there from from Rudy's is incredibly easy. There is also a bus that can take you from there right over to 924 Gilman. I love the Bay Area transit systems, though I wish they were a bit more unified. I'm so excited to come back in a month and a half and see it!

Well my friends, my San Francisco/Berkeley trip has now come to a close, and it just so happens that I have another cast member to introduce you to! If you've ever heard the song "The Internet Is For Porn", then you know a little bit about her already. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you: Mary Faber

articles_photo1_image1223472888.jpg

Here is what Wikipedia had to say about her:

Mary Faber (born in Greenville, North Carolina) is an American singer, actress, and dancer.

Faber made her Broadway debut on December 26, 2005, replacing Stephanie D'Abruzzo in the musical Avenue Q. She plays the big-hearted Kate Monster and the easy Lucy T. Slut. Starting October 30, 2006 she took a leave of absence from Avenue Q to appear as Clea in the Playwright's Horizon's production of "Floyd and Clea Under the Western Sky." During this period, her characters were played by Kelli Sawyer, who had previously played them in the Las Vegas production of the show. Faber returned to Avenue Q on December 19, 2006.

As of October 9, 2008, Faber was no longer appearing in Avenue Q.

Faber has appeared in off-Broadway shows including Saved! at Playwright's Horizons and Slut and The Tutor. Faber also previously worked in the TheatreWorks Musical Junie B. Jones. She is currently acting in "The Corn is Green" alongside Kate Burton at the Huntington Theater in Boston. Between theater jobs, Faber is known to moonlight at improvisational clubs including the Upright Citizens Brigade, The Riot Act, and The Second City.

Mary Faber also appeared in the comic strip Least I Could Do when Rayne visits New York and sees Avenue Q.

I give her points for singing a song that has already amused me countless times.

Also, it looks like the entire cast celebrated the ending of their two weeks of rehersal in New York by going to see The Boys in Albany last night, and one even got to get high with Tre.

Also it was Tony Vincent's birthday yesterday, so I am now wishing him a late Happy Birthday!

Michael Mayer Interview

Here's a fantastic interview with Michael Mayer on July 21st. It sounds like he's really doing it justice. The interview really made me super excited and I really really wish I was going on the opening day but I'm not.

Wow, lots happening on this thread since the last time I was on here! :woot:

MassHysteria, you have done an amazing job with all the cast research, thanks so much for that. I have been geeked about this production from the very early days, and all this additional information has me even more geeky about it! Bring on September!

miss_ing - thanks so much for those links for Tony Vincent. I had checked out his website and listened to some of his solo work, but that Queen performance was nothing short of amazing!

Yay! We finally have one more confirmed character link! I just listened to the interview, and finally we know who JOS aka Johnny is John Gallagher Jr. I had a hunch that might be the fact.... now to make the other connections. Can't wait to come back in a month!

Awesome interview! I love how passionate Michael Mayer is about the material. I also love that he named John Gallagher Jr.'s character "Johnny" and that they're definitely thinking of an NY run next! Can't make it out to Berkeley, but I'll definitely be there if/when it comes to NYC! Thanks for posting! :)

So all this cast talk made me want to go back and listen to some of John Gallagher Jr.'s songs, which then made me feel like listening to the Spring Awakening Holiday Concert (Christmas in July...sure, why not!). So I've been listening to them all morning and I thought I'd share. I tried to include something for all the people I've actually seen perform live. Sorry if these have already been posted and I missed them. Note: I did not record these. Special thanks to the SA fans who did! :)

Brian Charles Johnson

I don't have anything solo for Brian, but I have always adored his solo during "Touch Me". He's the one in the blue shirt and green hat.

Looks like we have another cast member to introduce today, Declan Bennett:

bennett.jpg

Here is biography from his official website:

Declan Bennett is a dynamic acoustic singer-songwriter with a hard-hitting, witty and poetic way with words, unique take on life and unashamed and honest tales of life, love and sexuality , which have already won him a diverse and devoted fan base around the UK, across the US and beyond...

Declan is no stranger to fame, with mainstream chart success by the age of 20 as part of a pop/rock outfit, a lead role in an award-winning West End show at 21 and a starring role as Roger in cult rock opera RENT in a seven-month run on Broadway New York and an eight-month US tour.

From the moment Declan began introducing his solo repertoire at intimate unplugged nights around London a few years ago under the pseudonym sumladfromcov, he began to get repeated requests for recorded material from a rapidly expanding fan base. Having already experienced the frustration that writing for a major label could entail, he decided to go it alone, and, in 2005, brought out his debut album ‘The Painters Ball’ on his own label CovBoy Records. This was followed in 2007 by an iTunes only EP ’10 Nelson Road’.

In April 2008, Declan released his second full-length album ‘An Innocent Evening Of Drinking’. Recorded in London, New York and Coventry, the album has already gained a number of four-star reviews in the mainstream music press and radio airplay in the UK and US.

Now appearing under his own name, Declan has, in the past few years, been playing numerous respected acoustic venues and festivals around the UK and also across the US, since being given the unmissable chance to venture Stateside after being spotted singing by an American casting director. With sellout headline shows of his own at venues from New York’s Living Room, Joe’s Pub and Rockwood Music Hall, to London’s prestigious Soho Revue Bar, Declan has also supported at sell-out gigs for artists as diverse as Boy George (including the whole of his October 2008 UK tour, where Declan plays a 45-minute set each night), and Seth Lakeman.

Declan is now splitting his time between the UK and the US, and is soon to start work on his next album.

BOY GEORGE ON DECLAN BENNETT IN TIME OUT ‘He has a voice full of emotion and yearning, his lyrics and melodies have a pop edge without being lazy or radio-desperate’

MERCURY MOON MAGAZINE ‘His are unusually honest, intelligent and subtle pieces of work. Openness and vulnerability are a running thread with him… the recurrent theme is this desire for truth, integrity.’

POWPOWPOW ‘ 'Unlike many other peers swimming in the acoustic pool, Declan Bennett effortlessly stands apart. He's a confident and charismatic performer, with deliciously simple, welcoming melodies and captivating lyrical themes.’

AWARD-WINNING SONGWRITER LINDA THOMPSON ‘Declan is the real thing. He sings from the heart, and I defy anyone not to be touched by his songs.’

GAY TIMES ‘As far from the world of boyband pop as the earth is from Pluto...’

LITTLE BRITAIN'S MATT LUCAS ‘I'm absolutely convinced that Declan Bennett is going to be massive. I have his album on constant repeat’

I am constantly amazed at how on top of cast announcements you are! Thanks for posting!!

BTW, are you going to see the show in Berkeley? I think I'm going to have to wait for the NYC run, but I'm totally pumped for everyone that does get to see it this fall!

Yep, I'm seeing it on Sept. 4th with J'net and the others, I'm really excited for it! It will be once in a lifetime to see a musical on opening night, let alone one based on Green Day! Plus, it will probably never come to Utah, or at least not for quite awhile (guess it all depends on if it moves on from Berkeley, and I hope that it will!)
