MassHysteria
Lol I love this portion I just read in one of the Playbill articles when they're interviewing Michael Esper: "I've done those drugs that my character does. He really just smokes pot and drinks a lot, and I've done all the research that I need to do on those things. I'm done." Way to go the extra mile. With Tre & Gerard (I'm sure theres others) around, it couldn't have been hard to research. http://www.playbill.com/features/article/138911-PLAYBILL-ON-OPENING-NIGHT-American-Idiot-Green-Days-Red-Letter-Day

karma1215
Nope, she never even talked to me until we were about to go to the Red Carpet. She was really friendly to me, but I still don't really care for her. She acted like this was just like an everyday thing or something.. idk. and she was making fun of all the green day fans, which was also a bunch of GDCers that were inside the barricade waiting since earlier in the day just to see the band. she was like "Those Green Day fans have been outside since like 2pm, if they want to see the band so bad why don't they just go to one of their concerts" She was pretty arrogant and she was also there more for the musical part of it, it felt like she wasn't really a big Green Day fan at all. But thats okay, thats what they have me for! and to represent GDC! You represented GDC ... amazingly well. Thank you for sharing your experience with all of us. Cheers to you and your mom
sundaymorning6am
OMG. I saw a show two blocks from the St. James tonight that was also an hour and a half and I ran over to the St. James after and caught the tail-end of Green Day performing 'American Idiot' and then they did 'Basketcase.' So amazing! If anyone was there for the whole thing, did they do any songs besides those? I took a video of Basketcase, but i think it's pretty bad... sundaymorning6am
I walked in! Literally just walked in. At that point, after curtain call, no one cares if you were a ticket holder that night or not.

plaid ducky
Heh... After the cast did "Good Riddance," the stage hands came out with mics and out came Billie, Tre, and Mike. The cast was so in awed and were rocking out. They played "American Idiot" and then "Basket Case." MTV was filming along with many, many others. Ben Thompson probably had the best view as he was recording on stage. Theo tried to crowd surf but only made it to the 4th row. Quite epic. Bastard of 1967
http://twitpic.com/1hn9im I guess they are on to Basket Case now. It's like a mini concert ! OMG what a night. . So much to say about tonight's show, but will have to wait for tomorrow b/c (a) I'm peckking this out on my blackberry right now, (b) my day started at 5am, it's past midnight now, and I am effin' SPENT, and © I need some time to process it all. The show itself just ROCKS. I'll go into details tomorrow....for now, everyone of y'all who is able to come and see this should. It's that good. And yes, the band and Billie's family were there tonight, and yes they did play 2 songs (AI and Basketcase) for us after curtain call. What a wonderful treat, and a great appetizer for the Camden show this summer. Nite all...promise, I will write more tomorrow.

SOMERTEN
Just wanted to say it has been great reading all the stories this week it has really cheered me up! J'net in the middle of things as usual to give us a report. I also love the utube videos from Rebel (sorry don't know your name) a worthy winner. Shame about the girl with the pink hair getting the other prize if she's not so much of a fan. Although she does claim to be into the band for a long time, I find that hard to believe if she doesn't understand why fans were waiting outside. I'd have been trying to get more people in! Has anyone managed to get footage of the show (or are cameras banned?) It'll be ages till I see it based in the UK.
