Welshy
http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/286...n_idiot_musicalThink this is an interview or article about the AI musical, haven't read it yet. It's an interview with both Billie and Michael Mayer about the musical."He's not afraid of being uncool. And you know what? That's the coolest thing of all."Thought that was...cool
simone18
why the hell didn´t they made a movie out of the story?i´m not able to see the theatre version cause i don´t think they will play it in germany
farley drexel hatcher
In that article he mentions how Michael Mayer mentioned in an interview how he wanted to do an AI musical, and how "one of the kids on the fansite put that up" and that's how it came about. Was the fansite GDA?"The idea was, "Wouldn't it be great to make a film out if it?" Then the film idea fell through the cracks, which was a bummer. The enthusiasm got lost. Then the guy from Spring Awakening, Michael Mayer — he was doing an interview. Someone asked him what he wanted to do next, and he said he'd love to do the musical of American Idiot. One of the kids from the fan sites put that up. And a year and a half later, lo and behold, we get a call from him."

MassHysteria
Yay! I was able to work it so I go to the show on the 4th! Woot!
MassHysteria
Me! For Sept 4th- if I can't make it, I can always sell the ticket I guess- It's a really GOOD SEAT!Here are my opinions on the whole thing:I've been reading all the comments on here and for the first time I am seeing a LOT of negativity amongst the fans. Well, you don't have to like the idea of American Idiot becoming a theatrical production, but no one is twisting your arm to see it either. It's not like it's going to invade your world through the TV or the radio- you don't even have to push a button or turn a knob to get rid of it. You either go to the show or you don't. If they can make a series of Friday the 13th movies, whats so bad about rehashing American Idiot in a completely different medium? To think that American Idiot meant enough to Michael Mayer to devote his time and energy into it must mean that he loves Green Days work as much as we do. Combine that passion with the fact that Billie Joe has discussed the treatment and given his approval for it is good enough for me. Billie is smart and he wouldn't give the go ahead on something that really sucked. Has he EVER let us down before? And to Who-ever said The Who > Green Day, why don't you go hang out on the Who's forum? And to Who-ever said, There would be no Green Day with out The Who: Just because The Who was a band before Green Day was born and were an influence to Green Day doesn't make them any greater of a band. BTW- I saw Tommy in the theater when I was 9 years old...I like The Who.It's a short run of 5 shows- Billies family and friends could probably sell out one of them all by themselves, seeing it is in his hometown. Thank you so much for selling me the ticket!

farley drexel hatcher
I don't know, this seems like the kind of thing GDA would pick up ... I don't think the IC would have posted anything like that, specially back then when it hardly ever posted news at all.How cool would it be if somehow this musical came to be through the help of gda, though xD
MassHysteria
The music is being sung by the cast correct? If so, do you think they'll ever release a CD of a cast recording? I doubt there will be unless this makes it to Broadway, but an interesting thought none the less.
Soroush
I know this thread is gonna be closed soon but this question has come to my mind and I didn't find anything about that. Does anyone know who are the american musical cast?actors?actresses?
Katarina.
I have no idea. I just checked a few theater sites, but they didn't have the info. You should check those sites too. I guess we'll hear more about it soon enough.

Katarina.
So.. that means JOS and/or Saint Jimmy will be (played by) women? Interesting..
Anja
So.. that means JOS and/or Saint Jimmy will be (played by) women? Interesting..Well, I can only rely on what Tré said: "It's interesting to hear Green Day songs sung by women." Now interprete that whatever way you like
badwolf
Hannah Montana should be in it.
Grouch
Well, I can only rely on what Tré said: "It's interesting to hear Green Day songs sung by women." Now interprete that whatever way you like I interpret that as the Whatsername character will be singing the songs that are from her perspective on the album. That makes the most sense. Obviously they'll have backups and extras and such doing the choruses on songs too, but yeah, Letterbomb will very likely be sung by a woman, as 95% of that song is Whatsername talking to Jimmy.
