lizziebix
sometimes closing dates gets pushed back just saying Hate to be repetitive, but while that may be true, it is unlikely. That's why the tour is so exciting.
carasway
I had heard that the contract with Jujamcyn (the theatre group) expires May - so doubt there's any chance of extension .... But fingers crossed the tour goes worldwide!
oda
I wonder what show st. James will be hosting next. I think st. James and American Idiot sounds so good together.
sundaymorning6am
I had heard that the contract with Jujamcyn (the theatre group) expires May - so doubt there's any chance of extension .... But fingers crossed the tour goes worldwide! I think what happened was probably that Jujamcyn stop-claused them (I think that's what it's called), which is written in to every theatre contract when you rent the theatre. It means that the theatre owners can kick you out if you make under a certain amount for 2 consecutive weeks. Especially since there's a wait-list for Broadway theatres right now for tons of shows waiting to get in, the owners know there might be another show that will be a lot more profitable that they can book into the theatre. Tripe
Becky, great news about the musical coming to Minnesota! Hoping to hear about some Ohio dates soon. Wallace posted on FB tonight that Billie Joe and Adrienne sent him flowers - this weekend is his last as the Favorite Son, right?. He was amazed and stated he has never experienced "such love and respect."
vla313
Apparently there's already a show booked for the St. James in the fall, and shorter things interested in booking over the summer. Don't really know what, but I'm sure that had something to do with closing it in April.
plaid ducky
So, Jordan Roth tweeted about it being Stark, Wallace & Davey's last day. *le sigh* Come Tuesday, PJ will be St. Jimmy, Joshua Henry will be Favorite Son and David Larsen, who is currently in the ensemble of "Billy Elliot," will be Tunny. Stark leaving is the toughest for me. But Wallace & Davey will be missed too even though I've never seen them. do you guys think there is any chance of JGJ ESPER AND STARK returning for the last day in April ? i don't think so either. JGJ is in Engerland, right? all are so busy with their new projects.
oda
Does any audio of Aspen as EG exist? I'd really love to hear that.
plaid ducky
If John, Stark, Michael or other former cast members return, they're not going to perform. They might go on the stage after curtain but not perform in the actual show. I posted some audio with Aspen!EG before.

Moffie
In honor of Stark's last day, I feel the need to ~reminisce: I remember when it was announced that Matt Caplan wouldn't be joining the cast to Broadway and a lot of fans were upset by that. Especially since they had no idea who the fuck Stark Sands was. It was like, "HE'S NEVER BEEN IN A MUSICAL? WHAT THE HELL? WAY TO DO THAT TO MATT." And then they saw a picture of him and were like, "....he's pretty." and then they heard his "City Of The Damned" and it became, "Matt who?!" I'm gonna miss him a lot. Tripe
I really liked Matt in Berkeley....and being a creature of habit, I was disappointed that such a major character was recast for Broadway. BUT, Stark totally won me over and I saw the Broadway version a lot more than the Berkeley one so I am also like "Matt Who?"
Bastard of 1967
I really liked Matt in Berkeley....and being a creature of habit, I was disappointed that such a major character was recast for Broadway. BUT, Stark totally won me over and I saw the Broadway version a lot more than the Berkeley one so I am also like "Matt Who?" The difference in the quality of Stark's acting and the command he had of his character from when I first saw him opening week to when I saw the show for a second time two months ago was like night and day. He owned that damn thing just as well as the other OBC members eventually grew to own their own characters, and like the others he too will be missed. plaid ducky
Tonight was just a simple show. Nothing fancy. This was my first time seeing Justin. I liked him. He wasn't terrible. There was a little timing issue before 'Novacaine.' He was very nice as stagedoor. Totally fanboyed over Esper. Esper, you see, came to the show. He originally was sitting in like Row N but was moved up to Row D. It's his first time ever seeing the show from the audience. And he was giddyily smiling throughout. I was in front of him but I looked back every once in a while. He was so happy during TMTS. Justin didn't realize that he was watching until Good Riddance and Esper was giving him the thumbs up during the guitar solo. However, most adorable thing was him jumping for Stark's pick at the of Good Riddance. Speaking of Stark, he really pulled a fantastic, emotional performance. I heard that he really broke down during '21 Guns' in the matinee. I'll miss him. Not only was he talented, but a genuinely nice guy like some of you have witnessed in person. Wallace was good. He made me cry during Whatsername when he had his Favorite Son solo and tears were running down his face. For those in Chicago, go check out his new project, "White Noise." I have to say, Davey just didn't do it for me. The only song that I liked was 'Death of St. Jimmy.' I had no real opinion the first time I saw him but tonight, it just wasn't... *shrugs* I hope that he enjoyed his time at Idiot, though. The rest of the cast was great. Seemed a little bit tired but still worked it. This might have been the best I've seen Libby!EG. Ok, that's it for me right now. Nite, nite! Whatsername1533
Just found this. It's not on the Gamage Theater site yet though so it might not be accurate. http://www.ballparks.com/tickets/theater/american_idiot_tickets_phoenix.htm edit: actually it probably is listed on the official site I looked at april for this year not next. GDM
AKA Matt Caplan had no ability to act the part. Lol. I didn't find him that horrible when I saw him in Berkeley, but yea, Stark acted the part much better, for sure.
sundaymorning6am
Lol. I didn't find him that horrible when I saw him in Berkeley, but yea, Stark acted the part much better, for sure. I'm just biased, but I think his acting abilities are apparent from his lack of training. He was awful in Rent, annoying in High Fidelity (but that kinda fit the part), lackluster and whiny in AI, and annoying again in Spider-man (but again you kinda don't notice because his role is obnoxious). Sigh. Oh yeah, and to whoever said that the St. James was already re-booked, I found out tonight that it is not. In fact, and you didn't hear it from me, the HAIR tour has a ten week gap and they might come in to the St. James during the summer (or whenever the gap is). luvgirlcl
AKA Matt Caplan had no ability to act the part. Although I never got the chance to see AI on B'way (and much less on Berkeley), I remember seeing some pics of Matt Caplan as Tunny and he seemed to be consistently angry or mad at something, whereas Stark showed a more wide range of emotions (and face expressions ). And you guys, Steve is in love
plaid ducky
I love that Joshua Henry will be back, but I'm sad that he (probably) won't have his guitar solo back during "Good Riddance."
alaniluau
I never even saw Matt, so I wasn't particularly attached. I joke that I repel Tunny, since most every time I have seen the musical there has been an understudy on for that character. Stark truly owned it, so I will miss him dearly. I'm super excited to see where his career goes next through, I think he can go far.
