American Idiot Musical (Theatrical Production)

I don't think Mike and Tre would fit into the show that well. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love them to death, but still. It's a Broadway show. They can't just bring in two more people with absolutely no Broadway experience, even if they wrote the music. XD Billie Joe fit in well, but I just can't see Mike or Tre working out as well. However, I do hope that they show up and come on stage for the encore at some shows. I was there the one night when Mike came up on stage, and it was really awesome.

Mr. Havok signed on for a special limited engagement of two weeks, concluding March 13. The musical’s spokeswoman said it was not yet known who would play St. Jimmy from March 15 to April 3.

welll they better figure it out soon

I bet the understudy will do it for a few weeks.

Its too bad Lady Gaga is on tour right now. I think that she would be the best St. Jimmy ever, aside from Billie.

woah I never thought of that but she actually indeed would be :o

I just think back of her performance of Paprazzi at 2009's VMAS :o

I LOVED that performance

:ninja:

apparently the show was a trainwreck tonight... PJ was on and came in late for his resident solo in holiday... and the sound system was malfunctioning really badly... and my friend hated davey - said he was a joke and people were laughing at him, and not in a good way. oof.

Not surprised about the show closing at all, with the ticket sales, a lack of Billie, the cast turnovers, etc. But, hey, it's not a clusterfuck like Spiderman, so, hey, it's quite the accomplishment!

It'll get new life on the road.

I was at the show tonight. PJ wasn't late. He didn't do the line; Brian did. PJ only did certain songs because he just learned it. I was told he'll be Jimmy in the interim between Davey & Billie.

The show was kinda nutso. Stark's mic was off for 'Shitbag' in JOS, then uber loud for 'Leave me alone' and then off again for the first part of 'City of the Damned' in BOBD.

Jeanna got confused & missed the magazine cue in TMTS and was heading off stage before Dec grabed her, knocking over his guitar.

I really don't have an opinion for Davey. *shrugs* Some parts were fine, others, I just didn't pay attention because there was so much going on on stage.

In all honesty, I greatly enjoyed the show. With all the understudies, it felt like I was experiencing the show for the first time.

Chase was great. Declan was amazing. I absolutely loved his 'Give Me Novacaine.' Aspen was fierce, especially for not feeling well. It was a fun show.

I was in the 2nd row but I didn't hear any laughing *at* Davey.

Oh, and Stark told my friends & I himself that Sunday was his last day. He was loading up his things in a SUV after the show. :(

Shit. My friend had been telling me like a week ago that she heard he was leaving, but I didn't believe her. :( Do we know who'll be playing Tunny?

Yeah, Stark leaving has been circulating for a while. However, he himself until tonight wasn't giving a definite answer. New Tunny was cast. Actually saw him today walking from the St. James to his current Broadway show, which he's leaving on Sunday. He should sart on Tuesday along with Joshua Henry as Favoeite Son. St. Jimmy seems to be the one role up in the air, but I think it's PJ.

Aw, that's what you talking about on Twitter. I loved his tattoos. He's got the greatest tattoos ever. Seriously amazing.

Technically, he was pretty great. HIt everything he was supposed to. Unfortunately, he was BJ playing the part. Pretty much down to a tee, but without Billie's emotional quality, or looseness. He was pretty stiff. There were a few parts where I generally laughed with him. The part where he encourages Johnny to kiss Whatsername was funny, but there were some other parts that were funny not in a good way, like when he hisses the cast out of their trances. His voice is strong, that's for sure, but almost a little too high in a way. There wasn't that much emotion coming from him. I was really rooting for him, for sure. I'm glad I saw him.

Chase, on the other, was freaking phenomenal as Johnny. His emotion was right on target, though Van is a little funnier in the role. But Chase really got me in the gut during Whatsername, and Wake Me Up When September Ends. And the story about stealing the money for the bus tickets was really great.

Tunny's mic was really messed up tonight, that's for sure.

And yes, I loved Declan. Plaid Ducky is right about him in Nobody Likes You. I didn't see the guitar being knocked over. Aspen sings that role so well, she is really good, but nobody spins around like Christina did on that wire. I really miss that part. It's my favorite part of Extrordianary Girl, and I'm not that much into that whole scene.

Haha, and it really caught me off guard when Brian sang that line during Holiday. But, it worked great!

Aww ... Poor Davey. He simply must feel out of his element on Broadway ... :(

I actually like Davey. Ok, yeah, the hisses are out of nowhere, and people laughed at them, but I...see his St. Jimmy as being kinda diva-ish and aloof rather than stiff. My friend dubbed him Princess Jimmy. lol. *shrugs* I just see it as a different interpretation? Whether it's on purpose or not, I have no idea, but that's how I and my friends saw him. He seems to be having an awesome time; I talked to him before he started his run when he was just hanging around the theater and he was SO excited. It's kinda funny though, I've noticed among people that St. Jimmy is the character people have the most strong opinions over. lol.

Loved the show tonight with all the u/s, so, so glad I got to see Aspen as EG, thought I was gonna have to miss that! Vocally awesome, she did look a little tentative at the flying, but I think we all know how scared she is of it, so awesome job anyway. I love Dec's Will, so glad I got to see it again; his Give Me Novocaine is beautiful. I kinda wish they didn't cut him singing LNOE before Berkeley previews, I'm dying to hear him sing it! Chase is a solid Johnny, glad he's finally able to go on, and Dec was positively giddy at stagedoor at the fact they got to go on together. lol

Yeah, PJ doesn't really know the major choreo yet, and sat out some of the ensemble songs, like She's a Rebel and KYE. But from what I hear he was mostly hired to cover St. Jimmy, and I'm guessing he'll be doing the next couple of weeks.

I had an awesome time at the show tonight; I love it when u/s go on and the show's just a little cracky b/c of that. lol. And my friend came up from Philly last minute and says it was totally worth it. lol.

Sounds like an interesting show last night! I think it would be fun to see all the understudies and a few screw ups....live theater is awesome.

I think Aspen is amazing as EG. No one is as good as Christina but Aspen is definitely next best and she doesn't even do the role that often.

I must have missed PJ in the addition/subtraction of cast members lately, no idea who he is. Oh well, hopefully he will do a splendid job as St. Jimmy. I guess anyone coming into that role must feel a little overwhelmed.

Good luck to Stark! Sad that he is leaving but it's been a great run for him. So weird to have so many of the "main" characters being played by someone else. Is Rebecca the only OBC and Berkeley cast member in a major role now?

It must be tough to play St. Jimmy, especially when you've seen the show before, and put your own spin on it. I mean, if I was doing it, hopefully I'd make the role my own, but I was so blown away by the way Billie played it that I know I'd have a lot of influence from him. So you have to consciously do something different in order to avoid just imitating those who've gone before. So it can't be an easy job.

Absolutely, especially since there have now been four major St. Jimmy's plus understudies.

Its always hard to not copy too much of what the person sounds like on the OBCR or acts like in the show if you've seen it.
