farley drexel hatcher
Jesus, how many times do people need telling that he is NOT abandoning guitar. He might not play some songs, but that doesn't mean he won't play any. I would be very surprised if that were the case. Can you see someone else playing Basketcase or Hitchin A Ride or any any of those? I've said it before but people take things way too literally. Nobody_Likes_You
I wouldn't like Billie Joe not playing guitar. That just wouldn't be Billie Joe and i don't think he won't be playing guitar. Billie Joe ist becoming a little Bono?...please...no!And i also don't like the idea of playing the whole new album and don't playing old songs. I've never been to a Green Day concert, but I'd love to see some older stuff. Or maybe they could play 3-hours-shows, like "Die Ärzte" do in Germany That'd rule, but we'll see
Princess Consuela
If they hadn't written about that no one probably would notice any difference, including me.It's another irrelevant issue that poeple tend to play up (I believe that's the right expression)

piratepalmer
1. They're knackered, any help is appreciated.2. I think this bodes well - the more layers of guitar the better.3. As long as we still hear the VoG all is well
Hermione
I got no problem with this. He's obviously still gonna play some guitar. And I don't mind him being free for more "frontman-ing" at all
J'net
I feel a little sadness that Billie will be playing less guitar on this tour. I've always loved his stage presence with a guitar. But, I know they've done a very physical album and they want the shows to be hugely impressive, so if this is what they feel they need to do, then who am I to judge? Billie has certainly proven himself to be an incredible frontman sans guitar over the years, since the Warning tour, so I'm sure he will only be better this time around. I'm excited about the news of these TV appearances so we get to see some live footage right away. And bands on SNL get two songs during the show, so that's extra exciting.I completely agree! Billie's guitar was the only thing I missed at the Foxtubs' shows, but I certainly had nothing to complain about - those shows were great! BUT, not only have they done a more physical album, it sounds like it may be more challenging in other ways and more multi-layered. If it's a lot more complex, there could be a need for another guitarist with Billie still playing quite a bit himself. Whatever he does, Billie will give his all for each show, and I can't imagine that I could possibly be disappointed in that.Yeah, can't wait for SNL! Haz
I have a plan. Billie runs around on stage with a guitar and sings. This Jeff Bloke stays in the wings and plays the guitar and everyone thinks Billie is playing when he isn't, his guitar isn't plugged in.Ok, maybe not...Or even better. Jeff will be playing guitar because Billie will be busy playing the piano.
Hermione
Or even better. Jeff will be playing guitar because Billie will be busy playing the piano.I can only hope

Haz
Jools Holland is the most awesome show to ever grace BBC television(Apart from J.Ross, TOTP, Doctor Who, Torchwood and any other good BBC shows)
Hermione
Urgh, I remember last time they were on Jools Holland when I was first getting into them and was desperate to see them on anything, and I turned it on just after they'd finished playing. I was NOT happy. Be great to see them on there again
Radioactive1
I'm not digging the idea of more people in the "live band"...Same I can't believe the tour may last 19 months. Man, I don't know how they do that.
nimrod-41
Cool. But I doubt he'll play in every song. It'll probably be like when they played St. Jimmy during the American Idiot tour, just the new songs are more complex and needs an extra guitar. And awesome about Jools Holland! Anybody know when the show's back on?
Mommy's Little Nightmare
I hope the Billie playing less guitar part proves to be untrue. He definitely played less guitar on the AI tour... he doesn't need to play any less than that.I definitely want to see Billie Joe on guitar. Welshy
I don't mind, and it'll give Billie freedom to run around those big arena stages. they're going to be on Jools Holland. wonder if i can get tickets
