^ this thread is like a broken record.

I concur. These are the facts.

It's, like, 5 seconds long.

It's two chords played, like, over and over.

It's, like, the GREATEST THING EVER!

It's, like, a disappointment.

It's like a broken record

OH and it sounds, like, The Who... forgot that one...

:D

So I guess that that means that my two cents don't matter.... *hmph*

(No, but really. It's a lame teaser.)

It's weird though, it doesn't sound very Green Dayish yet. And tbh I expected a bit more than just 2 chords played over and over again as a preview.

Yeah, I agree.

Why is everyone going absolutely nuts about it? It's only 2 chords and Billie Joe's distorted voice

God, what will things will be like when the actual album comes out?? :ermm:

And I expect you're the ring leader of it all! I should have known!! :P

I am going to take that as a compliment and put your name down for the 'lets follow the boys round the country even though we can't afford it' tour :D

Not long til we can actually do that

Well I'm definitely up for following them around Dublin [again] :D

I'd love to squeeze in a show in the UK too, but I dunno how feasible that is :/

Yay I heard it

I love it, it sounds like the slow building start of an epic album to me. Roll on May!

Do you have an mp3 player Hermione? (not an iPod) most libraries will let you plug a USB mp3 player into the computers and download stuff.

Thanks for the advice, yeah I've thought of that in the past but in this library they won't let you plug anything into the computer, they're worried about viruses or something. But nevermind my wonderful brother downloaded it for me

I was sickened when it cut off right about when you could tell it was gonna explode into the song :(

Haha me too, I am so desperate to hear that song now. I reckon it's a seperate track going into the song, like an intro. I remember once reading Billie Joe saying he was impressed by these albums that have stories and skits in them and when I heard this sample I thought "ooh, maybe that's what they're doing" :D

Yeah, but that was 5 years ago, so...

It sounds like the intro of something, or a transition, a loop or a coda like Quadrophenia (you know where the 4 melodies are played on top of each other, The Rock, I think)

Green Day wants nothing more than to be a British band

And that just makes me love them even more

I was going to listen to it yesterday, but I couldn't. So I had to wait almost 24 hours to hear it.

I'm so excited. Can't wait to hear the whole song. :woot:

Your two cents is always welcome... Doesn't mean it's right, but it's welcome! :D lol

You can put my name down on that list, too... though I live in a different country than you...

But rest assured, if I had the money, I'd follow them for the entire tour. I never get tired of seeing them live

this was more of a soundbite than a sample. can't really form much of an opinion based on this but at least stuff is happening now after how many years of waiting!

Hello? Green Day is one good example that these are not exclusive concepts.

They grew a larger fan-base with AI, because it was a fucking awesome masterpiece, that went just straight into the hearts of millions of people, because it is just so damned passionate and true and amazing. And If you read all the interviews they gave and all the stuff they said about that record, you can clearly see, that they were not aiming for a larger fanbase, but that they were really proud of what they have achieved with it as musicians. I doubt, there was any thought of making millions of dollars out of it while they recorded it. Does anyone remember the time, in which that record came out? A punk-rock-opera? It was a pretty bold move, I would say and I am so glad, they made it.

Idk, powerpop means Broadway Calls for me and I fucking love them.

i totally agree...with all the interviews during AI, they were amazing and talked more about the album/storyline than anything else. it just shows how they aren't obsessed about earning money. idk many bands that do amazing interviews and just have so much passion like green day has

you're so damn right! Green Day've reached the point in their carreer where they absolutely don't care (and don't even have to care, I think) about the money. They make music for the fans and for their own plessure! And they do it gooooooooooood :]

Amen to that. To me, any true artist should always be looking to improve and keep an open mind at all times. To me, American Idiot, and, most likely what CBD will be, is the sound of a band who is absolutely dedicated and in love with what they do. It's never been about what people think or how much money they make, and they'll always be that way. That's why I love them. People STILL talk about how AI was such a sell out record - I'm sorry, but making that album, making such strong statements and completely going out of their comfort zone took more guts than I've personally seen any band take. Today it seems that there's not much originality in the music industry, but I so deeply respect those who do what they want, not what everyone else wants them to do. I'm so proud to be a fan of these guys.

I dont get the impression they ever cared about the money. Seems to me as if it was always about the music.
