Reason number one.

That makes ZERO sense, sir.

It's just exciting to know that there is an actual album coming out soon. So hush.

But that's the point. They're not gonna post the whole song on the page. A nibble, man, a nibble. Just enough to get us wondering what it's about, if it's gonna suck, what direction they're taking... yeah.

That's right. A nibble. :bunny:

Tre could hit the snare drum once and walk away and that would be the sample and everyone would be excited over it.

I'm not asking them to release a whole song, I don't think I have even given that impression.

Nuh uh!

I mean, that's a little silly. And obviously not everyone is excited. But it's something, it's more than we've had outta them in a long while. I think it's worth getting a little excited over :) Would I have liked more? Of course. But this is something, and I think it's nice.

this song's guitar is heavily influenced by their relationship with U2. whoever the guitarist maybe in that song, which is probably Jason, he's playing with a lot of tiembre, which is something the Edge is famous for doing. that repeated piano crashing got awfully annoying though, the guitar should've played quitely through instead of the piano.

I friggin hope this album doesn't go the same way as U2's new one.

Get on Your Boots isn't necessarily a bad song, it's just they had a good song and messed with it too much. if they would've left that ridiculous bridge out of the song, then it wouldn't be "bad". i personally think it's okay, but if that's going to be the best song than that album is piss poor.

Ok, first of all... No.

Second of all... Green Day will NEVER be U2.

They're much more Who-inspired than anything, no matter how much Bono rubs off on bj (why does that have to sound so wrong?) they will never be like U2. the end.

Get on your boots is terrible in every way possible. It screams of middle aged men.

Not really, I think all this excitement is mostly due to momentum from what happened in the last few days.

U2 aren't even in the same league.

it was a piano mixed with an acoustic guitar.

it was very classic rock like mixed with U2 influences; i don't know if you've ever listened to Pink Floyd, but they did a lot of radio sampling in their songs where it would suddenly fade off to Old Time Radio shows and random talking. a good example would be Wish You Were Here. at the same time, the song did have alot of U2 influences, the guitar is a prime example.

Wish You Were Here was the first thing I thought of when I listened to it, and Pinball Wizard.

yeah, i guess you can say that the guitar tracks are Pink Floyd influenced as they have songs where the guitar is soft too.

i wasn't thinking about Pinball Wizard at all, the acoustic guitar blended in with the piano. i think the piano is more dominant.

It reminds me of the beginning of PW, and when I hear it I imagine bj doing/ripping off pete townsend windmills.

I didn't get too much U2 so much as The Who, but that's to be expected, really.... Yeah, I've listened to Pink Floyd, and I could see that, too. but it's such a small sample, it's hard to make calls on who influenced them. But I still heard a lil Who lol

why are we talking about U2???

Comparing, Jose. Comparing them.

OKAY

so I just listened to it because I hadn't had a chance to listen to do so

personally, I thought it would be better, but its a preview so its ok.

the strumming really got on my nerves, I hope the actual song doesn't have such a repetitive intro.

overall, it sounds like something even I could have done in garage band.

hopefully this is just like an intro to the album.

and now I see why people talk about U2, I definitely see a U2 kind of thing, but it also reminded me of an abbey road-ish atmosphere.

that's just my two pesos
